    Holy sh!t I know where that syrup came from. Of course I'm NE Ohio! Thanks Buckets! Been there, seen it & done it for years. JC's for breakfast, Warren's Kitchen for lunch or dinner. Middlefield Cheese across town! Sad the Red Maple Inn closed in Burton. Many stays, beautiful place. Have to use Punderson Manor now, which is ok cuz I can fish while I'm there, have a steak dinner and a shot of bourbon too!

    I did this same thing last summer with a vets yard sale. Bought 1/2 ton of stuff & a small trailer for 310$. Filled my garage with Made in USA stuff. Glad to see I'm not the only tool & junk hoarder. He gave me an aluminum deck super recycler 5.5hp GTS B&S flathead & a tecumseh HSK 845 2 stroke in a MTD blower for free. Got some craftsman mower for 10$. Love seeing these type'a deals. Wish I could work for Taryl lol.

    • @BillMalcolm-tn3kq
      @BillMalcolm-tn3kq 7 місяців тому

      Had a Loafer as a kid living out in the country. 1960 model. Loved that damn thing, would go anywhere. Even accompanied the farmer next door when he went back into the woods to cut trees for his winter heat and wife's cooking. if it got stuck, which wasn't often, hell, you just lifted it out of the mud. Low gear was like 143 to 1. It would climb hills so steep, you ended up "walking" with it. Plus talk about tiny cornering radius. Genius little machine. Just had to keep a supply of rubber drive wheels from the drive disc handy, for after you gunned the governor to get maybe an 8 mph top speed instead of the 4.5 standard. Rubber flew apart pretty quick, and the Iron Horse sounded like what trail bikes did a decade later.
      Our regional high school janitor had a Loafer with a 21 inch Lawn Boy mower to do the school front lawn of several acres, with what looked a crazy driving style -- all the kids watched out the window at his demonic style. Took no time even with only a 21 inch swathe. That's because it was 4.5 mph everywhere, including the sharp bends! It would just lift the inside rear wheel and slow down momentarily.
      Had the thing for 10 years until the family moved when I was out of country, and they left it behind. Darn!
      When you dropped that thing directly into fourth from a stop, the front wheels came off the ground with instant acceleration. Yee haw.
      The only decent piece of that truckload of junk, IMO. The Loafer ruled, and the gold color waxed up well. Never had a gas/carburetor problem with it, it always worked.
      The Honda mower I bought in 1990, the right front wheel fell off, it wasn't welded to the housing except by two tacks under a mountain of painted slag -- piece of garbage. The old Lawn Boys were made out of decent metal, and that Loafer transmission was all gear in a sump with a real differential. No crap belts and pulleys and thin bent tin and flatulent four-stroke hot lean smells. No engine seizing from steep slopes and oil running to one side. giving no lubrication. Proper stuff.
      The thing is an absolute hoot!
