  • This is part 2 of a travel-by-glider adventure. In the first part, we flew from Hollister to Warner Springs, in California. Now, we'll attempt to fly back the next day.
    Discover what flying sailplanes is really like. This is the story of a full glider flight, from take-off to landing, shown in time-lapse. It includes voice-over commentary, 3D visualizations, instrument overlays, statistical overlays, 360 video, and post-flight analysis.

    If you want to know what was going through my head....
    Across the mountains, even though the wind was high and the clouds were few, I thought the chances of continuing to find climbs was actually very good. It was the middle of the day, and there was tons of sun on the slopes. We couldn't go absolutely baller because the terrain was so high as to cut into our working band, but I didn't see any reason to go very slow or deviate much.
    The jump to the grapevine was more of an experiment. I did see some wisps there, so I was pretty sure I would find something. I forgot that people told me that the wind funnels through there, so I did not take into account that I would be lower than I would expect. I barely arrived above the terrain...I'll definitely remember that for the future though :)
    Thanks for doing my homework for me! Nice one.

    Thanks for the mention at 8:35
    Fun flying with you guys! I was chasing Ramy and didn’t realize you wear all behind us until we converged in that thermal.

    14:10 "I figure this is my chance to catch up to Ramy", said no one correctly, ever. Lol. He does have you beat by about 15%? all day, so no shame there I'd say. Nice flight!

    Great video. My buddies and I used to do similar flights out of Tehachapi.

    Really enjoy your videos. Great work!
    I was over your way in April, tried 3 weeks to tee up with a local club for a fly with no success.

      Sorry you weren't able to get a flight in. Are you a new pilot, or just visiting?

    The safety risks when outlanding in the US is coming from the owner of the field you're landing on . He could welcome you wth a salvo of his "assault rifle" for daring to land on his piece of dirt without his permission .

    How do you like the ls6 handling in 17.5m compared to 15m?

      @BenHirashima  Місяць тому +2

      @@RoelBaardman I've never really used the 15m tips. No reason to unless you're racing.
