Nadikar is an upcoming Indian Malayalam-language film directed by Lal Jr. and written by Suvin S. Somasekharan. Jointly produced by Godspeed Cinema and Mythri Movie Makers, the film stars Tovino Thomas, Divya Pillai, Soubin Shahir, Balu Varghese, Suresh Krishna, and Bhavana. The film follows the life of a superstar who is going through a rough patch. The film scheduled to be released in theatres on 3 May 2024.
The film tells the story of David Padikkal, an actor who shot to superstardom in the Malayalam film industry. Originally titled Nadikar Thilakam, the title of the movie was officially changed to Nadikar in January 2024 at the request of fans of Tamil actor Shivaji Ganeshan who is known by that moniker. An event was conducted on 23 January 2024 to announce the name change and was attended by Prabhu Ganeshan, the son of Ganeshan.
Jean Paul Lal, better known by his stage name Lal Jr., is an Indian film director and actor who mainly works in the Malayalam film industry. He is the son of actor-director Lal. His directorial debut movie was Honey Bee starring Asif Ali which was a hit.[1] He also played his acting debut as Solomon main villain in the movie Under World. He played a significant role in 2023 Priyadarshan movie Corona Papers.
Tovino Thomas is an Indian actor and film producer who predominantly works in Malayalam films.He made his debut in 2012 with the film Prabhuvinte Makkal. His breakthrough roles were in the films ABCD (2013), 7th Day (2014) and Ennu Ninte Moideen (2015). He starred as the titular character in the Netflix superhero film Minnal Murali (2021).
Tovino has co-produced the film Kilometers and Kilometers. On 21 January 2021, he launched his own production house - Tovino Thomas Productions. Kala is the first venture by his own production house where he also played the role of the antagonist.
He won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Ennu Ninte Moideen (2015). He also won the Kerala Film Critics Association Award and Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for his performance in Mayanadhi (2017). For his constantly evolving looks and style, Tovino is ranked among the most desirable men from Kerala as published by the Kochi Times, which, in 2018, ranked him first. In 2022, Tovino won the SIIMA Award for Best Actor, for Minnal Murali and Kala.
Soubin Shahir is an Indian actor and director who works in Malayalam cinema. He began his film career as an assistant director in 2003 and worked under several directors. Soubin made his acting debut in 2013 with a supporting role in Annayum Rasoolum. He made his directorial debut with the drama Parava (2017). In 2018, he won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his leading role in Sudani from Nigeria, which was also a major commercial success.
