13. First Coat Slip Engobe

Engobe is a formulated slip, a liquid clay. Decide whether you want a thin covering of slip or a thick, opaque surface. Apply, let set up, and reapply 3 coats if you seek opacity. Be sure to work with sgraffito and mishima. Line quality can be enhanced with slip, carving, inlay, and stencils too.
