    Hi all there. Again I am preparing another inorganic salt. I hope I will use it to titrate a pottasium permanganate solution in a future video.

    Your experiments are amazing, exactly the same as I have done. Very helpful, but when filtering it should use a glass funnel

      Yeah this video is pretty old, back in the begining of the channel haha. I invite you to visit my last videos, im sure you will like them ;)

      Hi Science K! At the moment of filming that video I didnt even have a balance so... No idea of yields and weights at all. But this is a pretty easy crystallisation and high yields are expected :D

    How long did it take the crystals to form? (for example in days)

    • @Glattuh
      @Glattuh  3 роки тому

      That particular clip took a few hours only, since they are form by recrystallization from hot solution.

    Why does the iron(II)sulfate- solution need to be hot during filtration?

    • @Glattuh
      @Glattuh  6 років тому +1

      Hi! The point of that is to decrease the volume and so increase the concentration in hot conditions. All of that is done in order to purify it by crystallization from hot solution method. You can also leave it and let it evaporate if that is the question too. The crystalls grow much better (in terms of purity) when they grow slowly but for my video the method I used was more than enough, and also for time saving ;)
      Thanks for the question :)

    I thought that mohr's salt is supposed to be pinkish purplish?

    • @Glattuh
      @Glattuh  7 років тому +2

      Well normally iron salts are green-blue (iron II) and brown (iron III). Maybe you are thinking in a manganese II chloride wich is white pink or even a permanganate wich is very strong purple.
      Chemsitry dont lies, my crystalls are blue-green as expected :D
      Thanks for commenting ;)

    Hola, un par de recomendaciones:
    1. Los clavos vienen galvanizados, mejor utiliza clavos que se vean oxidados por fuera
    2. siempre mantén un exceso de H2SO4

      Funcionó igual de bien con los clavos que use. Me di cuenta de mi error con el ácido sulfúrico y lo corregí, en el video se ve.
      Igualmente gracias por la aportación.
      Un saludo ;)
