Sermon 1 Kings 11-14 Sunday Aug 9, 2020

This morning we are going to do a survey of 1 Kings 11-14 which features a man who could have been so much more. Jeroboam was the first king of Israel during the time of the divided kingdom. He became - not a standard of righteousness, but of evil- to which all the other evil kings of Israel were compared. It didn't have to be this way because to him were given some incredible (but conditional) promises by God. He, like so many people, chose to rebel against God, make his own religion, and do his own thing. I think you'll find the text very interesting.
