This video just answered a question I was gonna ask about water splashing up onto rocks and bridge piers. Using water effects would make everything that much more spectacular.. I look forward to your next vid..
Weird... just got my surface water/water waves from Amazon. It's more like real water. Came to see if I was doing something wrong or had to wait or somethin'... but this looks way thicker right out of jar. Mine you could pour out like a glass of water. It still dries clear... double checked the label, it says water waves. Should be thick, right?
Please call Customer Service at 573-346-5555 to get a replacement sent to you. The bottle you have is a bad batch. However, you can use it to create an effect similar to water ripples, so it does not go to waste.
The product should not be runny. It is likely bad product that went through undetected. Please contact Customer Service directly and they will send you replacement product.
@@ModelSceneryExpertsee you wrote that it was a bad batch...bought a new one since I live in Sweden. That jar was bad too. Utter garbage, could not refund at my local hobby shop. Very, very disapointed
Our four Surface Water products, Waves, Ripples, Water Effects, and White Water Highlight would be very useful for making a watery disaster scene where lots of water is moving around. For the main body of water, both Realistic Water and Deep Pour could work. Realistic Water is simpler to use, but it does not solidify into a hardened state so anything you put on it will stick. Deep Pour is a two-part product that requires mixing. It can be poured deeper than Realistic Water and solidifies to a hardened state. The Water Undercoats and Tints may be useful if you want the water to appear a certain color underneath the Surface Water products.
i,d love u to do a model of a place over here in austalia in cairns called harveys ck its crystal clear comes off the mountain its a great swimming place my grandkids love it justa thought of it when watchin this!
Serious issue with product... any advice?? I bought this "woodland scenic water waves" today from a hobby store, didn't open it yet, but can see the resin inside is not a gelatin, it runs like thick paint. Looks nothing like in the video. Did I get a bad batch or is it supposed to be like that?? It looks nothing like in the video.
We're sorry to here this. It is possible you received a bad batch of Water Waves. We recommend returning the product for a replacement with the proper viscosity.
@@ModelSceneryExpert Thank you for the reply, I figured it was a defect. I am returning the product tomorrow and will just order straight from your website instead of a 3rd party storefront.
Does the white effect for rapids occur naturally from drying several layers, or is that a tint that needs to be applied? I didn’t see any white tints on your website.
We apologize for the delayed response, as we are just now seeing this comment. Actually, the white effect was done in another video showcasing our White Water Highlight (CW4529). You can watch that here ua-cam.com/video/DUKwVm_BJkQ/v-deo.html
Don't take this the wrong way. It is a genuin question, not an arm chair you tube expert sarcastic comment. When you do the rapid effect, would it be better to build it from the top and build in a down stream direction? My thinking is that you would be more natural to shape in the direction of flow. I have been out of modeling for a long time and have never done any form of landscape. looking at getting back into it and found this interesting. These videos are very helpful, thanks.
That decision would be up to the modeler depending on the effect they are trying to create. There are lots of ways to use our products depending on the look you want to achieve.
in looking to detail out the Darilium mine on my layout ive noted that most mines use the slurry method to clear/deposit tailing away from the mine. would water effects/waves be the best way to represent this?
Hi, William! Yes, Water Effects and Water Waves would work depending on your level of knowledge, since this will take alittle bit of work. We would suggest using a clear Plexiglas rod for the water stream and then covering it with Water Waves. We would also suggest using Water Waves for the splash.
Water Waves is designed to be used on water features, so there will be no problem using it on Deep Pour Water or Realistic Water. If you want to have the waves crashing onto the beach, we recommend sealing the beach material with Deep Pour Water. Apply the beach material and let it dry. Then when you are pouring Deep Pour Water, drizzle the Deep Pour Water over the area that the waves will be crashing onto the beach. The Deep Pour material will self-level and seep into the beach material--it won’t stay on the surface. After Deep Pour Water is cured, apply the Water Waves as desired.
i buy this item, but why is that mine dont look like that like a gel...the one i bought its like a water effect a liquid...but doesnt.look like a gel like yours? may i know why?
Please contact Customer Service directly at 573-346-5555 or email sales@woodlandscenics.com to inquire about a replacement. Let them know that you have a bad batch of Water Waves that is a runny liquid.
You will not get volume or be able to build up waves as you can with Water Waves. We recommend Water Waves to do this. Then you can use Water Effects to create the froth, which is more in line with it's purpose. Water Effects is designed for modeling fast-moving water features, such as waterfalls, rapids, waves or churning water.

We're sorry, but the bubbles cannot be removed once Water Waves has dried. It is normal to have a small amount of bubbles in the Water Waves material. Vigorously stirring the product in the jar and/or overworking the material on the water feature can greatly increase the amount of bubbles. If you notice bubbles forming in your Water Waves as you work with it, you can lightly mist the application with rubbing alcohol. Only a light mist is needed, don’t apply the alcohol heavily or it may make the application look dull. However, as was said before, once dried the bubbles can't be removed.
I just bought some and it nothing like this, it's slimmy and not like a Vaseline texture, it like they mixed up labels cause the containers of water ripples and water waves are exactly the same. I suggest they change colors of containers so the labelers don't get it muddled up.
Water Waves are manufactured as a stiffer product so you have the ability to create larger waves. Water Ripples are manufactured so it is softer and creates more of a ripple effect.
You can use our Water Tints. They are compatible. We do not test products other than on our own and are not able to offer advice on the compatibility of other products with our system. We do not recommend altering the system in any way.

I'm going to be doing a beach scene on my layout, can I use this product to make waves for my beach
Do you intend to use the Water Waves on the beach itself or on a water feature?
On both the beach and the water
Water Waves is designed to be used on water features, so there will be no problem using it on Deep Pour Water or Realistic Water.
If you want to have the waves crashing onto the beach, we recommend sealing the beach material with Deep Pour Water. Apply the beach material and let it dry. Then when you are pouring Deep Pour Water, drizzle the Deep Pour Water over the area that the waves will be crashing onto the beach. The Deep Pour material will self-level and seep into the beach material--it won’t stay on the surface. After Deep Pour Water is cured, apply the Water Waves as desired.
Does water waves dry hard?
Water Waves can dry as hard as plastic. We suggest letting them cure for 24 hours.

After drying, water waves has tiny bubbles. Did I do something wrong, is this normal, how do I remove them ? Thanks

Yea this is great for small projects but the price point is totally unrealistic for larger ones.

anyone know the diference between this and Surface Water Ripples?
Water Waves are manufactured as a stiffer product so you have the ability to create larger waves. Water Ripples are manufactured so it is softer and creates more of a ripple effect.
how about clean up in case i get clumsy (again)
If that's the case I think removal of the waves with a knife or blade and restarting in the area would be the best course of action to take
Just bought some and went to use it and it’s all runny…..
What type of paint can we use to tint it? Oil based, or acrylic?
