Fabulous work - I can't be the only one who would love a nerdy detailed video of the gazebo structure? What type of wood, where did you source the materials, how did you do the joins etc? I love seeing what other people have created with hard work!
Thank you. A few people have asked me about how I built the roof. I think was originally going to do a video on it but I felt it was going to be a bit boring as it got a little complicated and quite a bit of head scratching while I was figuring it out. I may be building one for someone else so if that happens. I do some video footage. Cheers.
If you fancy a trip up to south Birmingham you can build me one aswell. I’d love your input. I thought I was happy with my garden until I watched your videos
Thank you. Sometimes I can be a bit of a perfectionist and get frustrated when it doesn’t look how I envisioned it. After a while I get used to it and become a little more relaxed about it all. Cheers.
Stunning! It's like it just belongs there. What a view. I think keeping the lawn and having that view is the way to go. I actually like a bit of lawn myself and will be keeping most of mine.
Thank you David. It’s made a huge difference already to the garden. I’m literally sat there now typing this so I’m definitely going to make sure I get my moneys worth out of it. The warm weather has helped too. Cheers.
looks great, really adds to the tropical vibe, and love the repetition of circles, i feel themes that go throughout really tie the whole space together.
Thank you. Lots of the plants I grow in my garden originated from plant hunters that collected Seed from Taiwan. You must have some great plant choices for your garden there. Cheers
I love your garden. This is absolutely a big inspiration for what I want to do in my garden over time. I just have to find some different plant options, as I have to deal with a few more temperature extremes. Oklahoma, USA
I agree with your perspective on having a lawn. Besides, it's your garden right. Not to say that the videos you've shown before with no lawn and pure rainforest look aren't beautiful but to each his own. Windmills are part of the backbone in my cold zone 7B US garden. Now I'm in the process of filling in empty spots in flower beds and putting together large beds from current island beds of single plants. Your flower pots are gorgeous at the 7:20 mark. Looking great man! 😊 I love it.
Wow absolutely perfect. You’ve done an amazing job on that gazebo, it’s the best I’ve seen. Top quality. I bet you’ve spent a fortune. Your garden always looks stunning too. You should be very proud and I bet it brings you so much pleasure 👍😎🌴
@@tikitropicals65 i was also a landscape gardener in the Uk for 7 years but moved to Spain and have another job now. Still get to work on my own garden though 👌🏻
Enjoyed hearing your thought process about keeping the theme of everything round down to the beams for the hut & the pots plus you seemed to place the plants around hut in a circular pattern. It’s really nice and see how you enjoy it great job
Thank you. The circular theme suits my garden as the lawn is the dominant space so sets the theme. Then I find for me smaller circles just help to blend in with that. I think most people wouldn’t even notice the shape of the pots and fire pits etc but for me it brings continuity through the garden. Cheers.
That roof must of took a lot of skill and patience. Top job looks amazing just like everything else in your garden. Please keep the content coming. Cheers.
Thank you. Not sure about perfect but I appreciate the comment. I love to see how others create their style of tropical garden and how they get creative with the space they have. Hopefully others can take a little something from the way I do it. Cheers.
Very nice job on that garden ! I would only add a corner full of houseplants like dracanea marginatas and ficus Benjamina, even pachira just for the shake of it 😅 ! I know they are not going to survive during the winter but it will look cool even around November!
Wow, the gazebo looks amazing, very clever design, you've done an amazing job. I love all the pot displays. The different views look spectacular. I bet that's become your favourite place to sit now
Thank you Diane. I’m really happy with it and me and the wife tend to sit there most evenings but the lounge furniture down the bottom is more comfortable so we tend to sit down there later in the evening. Nice to now have the option.
It looks great mate . You remind me of how my dad used to be .with things your not happy about . My old man was the same he was an engineer . It looks fantastic just as it is ,thats the charm of it ,little imperfections in natural materials . The craftsmanship in your work is outstanding mate . Top class job, it looks perfect .
Thank you Shane. I love the rustic look and the use of natural materials but some things really bug me if they are out of my control but I see it as a good thing sometimes because I feel I can always improve them and it pushes me to make them better. Cheers.
Man, that is a piece of art! Seriously amazing job on it, I'm looking forward to the tour video. I think you've hit on an important aspect of a garden, and that is having comfortable areas to sit and take in the view from different aspects. I often see videos where there is one small seating area, usually at the back door or maybe an uncomfortable looking bench somewhere else in the garden. With all the effort many of us put into a garden, its best to try and "live" in it as much as possible.
Thank you. I noticed in your new yard you have a really nice gazebo yourself. I feel that must be essential for you with the heat you can get in Texas. I totally agree with you. As much as I love to walk through the garden and enjoy the plants we as a family also like to have a bit of outdoor living and enjoy the garden in comfort. It also makes the garden a more social space. Cheers.
Thank you. The thatch tiles were the expensive part costing with delivery about £1250. With timber I would say a bit less than £2000 in total. Labour to build it I did myself which obviously helps a lot. Cheers
Beautiful tropical garden, love the banana tree and the materials you used for the gazebo, looks like you worked very hard for it. It reminds me of being on holiday. How big is your garden?, I live in a flat and have an offer accepted on a house with a medium sized garden. I can’t wait to do gardening and your channel is giving me great ideas, I always dreamt of having a tropical garden like yours😊.
Hi and thank you. My garden is about 10 metres wide by 24 metres long. I’m putting up a Video today of a beautiful garden that’s about 3 years old that you may like. Cheers
Superb design. On a practical note, I had a similar but less accomplished gazebo. A lithium ion battery saw it go up in flames, catching the bungalow alight. Do flame proof such buildings please.
Thank you and a great point. We have been looking at fire retarding spray for the thatch so hopefully we see how that goes. Also the tap and hose is right next to it just incase. Cheers.
love your hut and the garden it lovely i see u grow a lot of plants in pots do u know the names of them as im looking for ideas for pot plants to go round my pond... your garden is WOW
Thank you. I tend to grow most of my plants in the ground but I like lots of. Colour in pots on the patio. I will try to name them in my next tour video coming soon as it will make more sense. Cheers.
Hi mate absolutely love the hut. I'm going to build one at some point soon myself to house a hot tub so shame you didn't do a how to build vid, I get why you didn't though. However, I do have a quick question, do you not need to ply and felt the roof as well?
Hi and thank you. If you were to buy the thatch tiles you can also buy the metal roof structure as well in the shape of a cone. The tile then clip onto the metal frame. This like mine is not guaranteed to be 100% water tight it will depend on how thick the tiles are. Mine are the smooth tile and these are layered which makes the thatch quite thin in places and can potentially allow drips through but if you have enough pitch the rain will generally run straight off the thatch. You can buy a thicker thatch that gives like a step look to the roof and they seem to be much thicker tiles. My gazebo down the bottom has the roof played and a breathable membrane on top but this is square shaped so much easier to cut the ply into that shape. Then thatch on top. You can see the ply from underneath which doesn’t look as nice in my opinion. I hope this helps a bit. Any more questions feel free to message me through my TikiTropicals instagram page or facebook if that helps. Cheers.

Wow, this garden is amazing. Only thing I would add is a big pond and mini water fall on that circular lawn.
