Making the cheese sauce first is an excellent idea! How many times have I dumped everything into the pan and when I serve, tiny clumps of cheese powder are in the macaroni. I’m in my 60s and never knew this tip. Thanks, Maegen!
It makes a lot of sense to make the cheese sauce first for the macaroni and cheese. I personally have never tried doing it that way before, but I will now. As for adding sliced American cheese cheese to it, I've been doing that for decades! Boxed mac and cheese does need that extra bit of cheesiness, in my opinion. 😋
my mom has been doing that as well with boxed mac and cheese! it makes it so much better. especially if you throw in a handful of sharp cheddar along with the American

Great video! The shrimp looked really good. I also add a slice of cheese to boxed macaroni and cheese, and love Mandy’s green bean recipe. I got the ingredients to make the pollo loco she made recently from Kroger today.
Hi Maegan. I really enjoyed this video. I don’t like shrimp but your shrimp dish looked delicious. The acidity was probably the combination of the tomato and the artichoke. I haven’t bought boxed macaroni and cheese in a long time but I’m using that hack the next time I do. Tamara and Mandy are two of my favorite UA-camrs. Oh I’m sorry. Salt really enhances flavors. Have you tried salt free seasonings like the Mrs Dash ones? Maybe the garlic herb one would be good. Or, if you can have Parmesan cheese, toss your green beans with some oil and seasonings and grated Parmesan. Bake them until tender. We love them that way, and I think the Parmesan would add some saltiness
