Fantastic instructional videos! I just replaced the antenna on my 2003 SC 430 and followed every step. Now works perfectly. You probably just saved me a couple of hundred dollars. Thanks!

No many people have this problem, but this is all I need for my 02 sc430. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. It took awhile and is not so simple, but it worked perfectly. The goop sealing the section where the broken plastic ribbed tail of the antenna has to be removed, is real messy, as you mentioned.

Thank you for the video. I was able to remove my 2002 SC430 antenna motor , clean it, replace it and installed the new mast, all possible with the step by step instructions of your video.

THANK YOU for this great video and your patience! - DrJLT had a good comment below as well for the simple mast replacement (car wash hit).

Did DrJLT's comment/instructions work for the simple mast replacement (car wash hit)? I need to replace mine this week. Thanks!

Hi. I have a 2003 SC430. My antenna motor is working. My antenna goes all the way up but not all the way down. (1/2 way down). If I put it all the way up, shut off the power leaving it up, and remove the old antenna and cable do you think it is possible thatinserting a new antenna and cable it will fully retract? OR, do you think there could be a broken piece of cable in the motor assembly, preventing it from fully retracting, and it should be pulled out of the car for inspection? I look forward to your advice. Thanks. David

Great video. However, this just made me decide to disconnect the whole thing, and plug it up with a rubber stopper. Actually, I don't even use the DIN unit at all. I use my cell-phone and a blue-tooth connection to the amp. I might gut the double-din radio and put something useful there. Any ideas? I could always use it for storage, since there is none in the trunk.

My antenna mast was broken in the car wash. The cable still works, so when the radio is turned on, the broken antenna flops over the side of the car...it does retract when the radio is turned off.
My question is: can I simply turn on the radio and simultaneously pull the entire cable out, then replace the new antenna and cable, or do I have to go through all the steps in all 3 of your videos?
    Thanks, Johann

I’ve have the same problem and I expect the same solution as you. Did you try it? Is it work? Or you do the complete solution of the 3 videos?

As I understand from another source that is a Lexus mech. You can take the nut off and tpull the whole mast out and replace with a new one.

You should turn the key to LOCK, press and hold DISC and AM and turn the key to ACC (after removing the retaining nut). The motor will spit out the mast. Feed the new mast in, with the teeth facing towards the rear, and turn the key to LOCK again and the motor will take in the new mast. Do not pull forcibly, or you risk having to do what this guy in the video did.

I have the same problem. My antena broke at a car wash but it comes in and out when I turn on the radio. The problem is that it flops down when it comes out. I wonder if I have to go through all those steps to replace it or if it's an easier job.

Thanks for the how-to video. I have a question I hope you can answer. Once the antenna goes all the way up, it makes the sound of stripped gears then goes back down a few inches. It retracts all the way in once the radio is cut off. Can you please advise me on what I may need to do to eliminate this issue? Again thanks for your video. It was very helpful.

Buddy -- did you ever get this problem figured out? I'm having the exact same issue, and have uninstalled/re-installed the mast 10 times, each time yielding the same effect as you described. 2004 SC430.

@@bretcurran9262 7/20/21 backwards for me as it makes a racket after antenna back down, (stripping sound?) this is second time doing this mast r&r and all fine first time. Fan up & down several times still makes the racket until reel triggers stop? WTF now????

might be terrible, but the info was invaluable. I can over look a mech trying to be a Vlogger.
