I followed this video step by step and it was very easy to remove the panels. I used kicker Kicker CS Series 150 Watt 6 x 9 Inch and they work great. the magnet is about half inch bigger but the windows cleared perfectly.
Thank you for posting this great tutorial. You made it a lot easier to get this done. The window definitely must be rolled down in order for the door trim to come off easily.
Also, can you add to the comment the tools you use. I’ve honestly never taken the covers off the doors to get to things like the speakers before. Thanks again for the video!
Thank you for watching. The tools I used are fillips screw driver. Also, plastic sticks for removing plastic components from the door without causing damage to the parts. www.amazon.com/Drilax-Plastic-Removal-Stereo-Install/dp/B073T2N4PV Have a good one
I watched your video on replacing the door speaker with Kickers. Great video! Are you still happy with the new speaker performance and are there any problems with the 4 ohms speaker.
The window down makes it much easier and the clip to remove the window button is actually at the top of the plate vs. middle or bottom so if you push it inside at the top it will ease it to come out or you can damage the clip on the other side.
Hey question. It seems like you posted a follow-on video that you were unhappy with the foam repair. I’m so conflicted of trying to foam repair or just replace. I guess you are an advocate to replacing the speaker vs attempting the foam repair. Anything else to add before i abandon the foam repair (sorry i can’t respond to your other video as its turned off, adding here).
Thank you for watching. Yes, the foam repair did work but the sound quality was just horrible. I have posted another video on how to replace speaker and what I installed and also how happy I am with the sound. Have a great day
@@klaasbies1567 I am afraid I cannot tell you because I did not keep the receipt. You need 3 ways speakers as the door tweeter and midrange will not work if you just plug in standard speakers, or so I have been told, but it sounds OK to me.
Well, that was probably a mistake. That sound system was considered arguably the best stock system in any car that year, so taking them out devalues the car. Also, they are easy to fix. So, if you were hellbent on replacing them you could have sold them for over $200 per speaker with about 20 minutes worth of effort, likely paying for your new speakers plus some drink money.
When I do my door speaker I am going to try to replace it using an adaptor plate I will make. You can also buy adaptor plates on eBay. I would never trust a repaired speaker when the original design was faulty anyway.
Putting down the window enables the door liner to be easily removed. I replaced my speakers with Kenwood units. You have to trim the inside of the plastic cradle holholanddfing the speaker and the speaker fits. You then have to trim the plastic on the inside of the grille that is on the inside of the door trim. Do all that and you get much superior speakers than the originals and they will last.

Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial! I was able to remove the door panel completely by lowering the window.
Glad it helped!

What a great video on how to access the door speakers for a SC430! Simple steps and easy to take out and fix speakers. Thanks for the documentation.
I am about to do a door speaker in my SC430 and the tip about lowering the window to get the door panel off sounds logical to me.

if you removing a door panel off a car always roll the window down so it does get in the way when disconnecting/connecting the door cables
Thank you for posting this, super helpful!

Reverse engineering at its finest ! Well done! ✌️🇦🇺
Great video! Very detailed. Thank you. Helped so much.
Glad it helped!
I replaced the speakers with aftermarket speakers, it was relatively easy and i would not be bothered trying to repair the original speakers.
Hi Jeffrey, what kind of speakers did you use ? best Klaas

Can the the speaker cover on the door be taken off to access and fix the speaker without taking the whole door panel off?
Good question. No, you can not take the cover off
What kind of wheels do you have ???
Thank you for watching. I will post a video soon on the wheels. Have a great day.
Thanks!
I fixed my on the right door thx
