- 26/05/2010 - Fatima Bhutto, writer, political commentator and outspoken critic of Pakistan's current regime will be at the Frontline Club in conversation with Owen Bennett-Jones, BBC Pakistan correspondent between 1998 and 2001 and author of Pakistan: Eye Of The Storm, to talk about her new book Songs of Blood and Sword and her vision for the future of Pakistan.
Songs of Blood and Sword tells the story of the Bhutto dynasty a history that mirrors the tumultuous events of Pakistan itself. In September 1996, a fourteen-year-old Fatima Bhutto hid in a windowless dressing room, shielding her baby brother while shots rang out in the streets outside the family home in Karachi. This was the evening that her father Murtaza was murdered, along with six of his associates.
In December 2007, Benazir Bhutto, Fatima's aunt, was assassinated in Rawalpindi. It was the latest in a long line of tragedies for one of the world's best known political dynasties.
Fatima Bhutto is an Afghan born Pakistani poetess and writer. She studied at Columbia University, and the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London. She currently writes columns for The Daily Beast, New Statesman and other publications. She lives in Karachi.

Bravo! Fatima for being soo candid and open. Imran Khan seems to be a great hope away from the circus of two parties.
Love her sense of humor, she has what it takes to be a great political leader like her grandfather, but i think she is overly cynical and mad at events and singular micro occurrences. She needs to shift her focus to ideology and the Macro side of Pakistani politics. I will vote for her any day of she could now grow out the conspiracy phase and emerge is a strong and likable leader.

Well this interview isn't in Pakistan and she isn't addressing pakistanis, this is her book launch which was out-side of Pakistan and that's why she is speaking in English and not our national language.

@prettypicture1000, how is that an ignorant comment. Do some research before you write such rubbish. Benazir was the daughter of Bhutto she had the right to use her family surname. Whereas anyone with a brain could clearly see that Fatima is speaking about her aunt frequently in this interview. Clearly Benazir has the influence and some effect on the bhutto family as a whole.

she is wrong here Benazir had nothing to do with his murder and nor did Zardari. he was murdered by the agencies who hate the Bhuttos and it was used to sack her gov. murtaza had a fight with Zardari only a few days before his murder and murtaza guards shaved his mustache. the army took advantage . he was the only son of Bhutto and it was sooooooo sad. look I can write an entire book about the political situation in Pakistan and dynastic politics but then u need to understand the prevailing situation and try to have the best out come.

No one questions the disputes between Murtaza and Zardari it is very clear but as we know that ISIS has agents who only takes orders from their directors and from the military. But it is very intressting detail that bot Murtaza and Shahnawaz married two Afghani Fasihudin sisters but they left both of them in very short period. Later Murtaza married to Syrian born Ghinwa Itaoui who was more close to Fatima . It has speclued that Fasihudin sisters where ISIS agents
