I think it symbolizes the sweet resurrection of our Lord... originally, the ingredients are just root crops and banana..root crops comes up from the ground, and the banana resembles a caring hand of our Lord, the coconut, the fruit from the tree of life..then, people modified the recipe to make it more flavourful..

we called it "Sampelot" here in Pampanga, we put additional ing. 2 types of kamote such as yellow and white, purple yam/ube, taro/gabi, and sago and tapioca , we put less saging and langka bcoz it's umaasim haha, and the secret of the Kapampangan version is we put some cheese, to balance the sweetness also richer the taste and more creamier, flavor taste enhancer kasi ang cheese bcoz of its saltiness

Hailing from Pampanga, my mom used to cook deserts always, but mostly when people are home - holidays, long vacations, birthdays, etc. It's a time when a lot of people congregate at home and enjoy eating.
