Way to build up a shelter for two amazing hard Working young happy couple . We are laughing and getting happy with you guys outside and brave . We like all your getting happy videos togetherness with both of our outdoor heros Dave and Brooke. Stay pinned to Jesus! We love you both ❤ 💖 💓 💗 ♥ 💕
What a badass couple. You two work well together. Your husband is a real MAN. Any guy that can make a legit REAL debris shelter (with help from his awesome wife of course) and drink spider tea by the fire is no doubt a badass. You guys are the best!
I agree. If you know any guys like Dave looking around for a woods girl, I'm looking. Until I found you guys, I always hid my lumber jill skills, too many guys got downright annoyed that I could build a fire, tent, shelter, chop trees by hand, chop massive firewood logs by hand, grow and make food, build a toilet, build a cabin, etc. and go hiking in the wilderness alone. The guys I have met in my life did NOT like a woods girl! I remember even back in jr high school escaping the city by going down to the river with my bacon and eggs and frying pan and starting a fire in the snow to make breakie! You guys are my long lost bosom buddies! (ps and being good at fishing also annoyed them) AND I even had a collie exactly like yours. Wow. Kind of makes me feel like I should never have moved back to the city. But that's okay, cuz I am leaving the city in less than two weeks and never looking back. Just got to find a dog and a guy like Dave. I don't suppose you rent him out? ha ha ha
I think it's a perfect date night, love it!!!! And yall are freaking hilarious. I was literally having a rough day, came here, watched this & feel better. Love & hugs.
Love how you two go about things, appreciating the simple pleasures of wilderness without reviewing saws, knives and hatchets that are expensive. Love the review of the one dollar saw. You rock!
I’m in the process of watching every video you’ve ever made. I love you guys, but this old date night shelter build is one of my favorites! And there’s Maysie/Daisy and some kitties!!! 😘❤️🙏🏼
Well in an ultimate emergency now I know what to do! hehe....Here in AL all we have is leaves and sticks (very thin skinny trees). Would totally work. Also a nice camo effect ! Love the tent life there while building your own little homes, outhouse and shower house. So cool! Lots of work but so worth it! My hubby is a roofer and has already built sheds and small structures. Might be cool to upgrade and see how that turns out! Thank you to you and your husband for inspiration!
OK, now I'm REALLY hoping you two find each other on the next episode of "Alone". What a team! :) I really liked the hatchet tip and the smoking-out-the-shelter tip. I'm not so much freaked out about spiders as I am about *ticks* and all the diseases they can transmit. ((shudder))
You 2 are like peas in a pad.me and my old man have the same,it great to have a union like that. Work to gether stay together .Dave keep your women happy and you got the world by the tail. Cheers too you both.
Congrats on your sense! Of all the debris shelter videos I have watched, and all the survival books I have read. You are the only ones I can recall to build a smudge fire in your shelter and smoke out the buggies! Having been the meal plan for any number of fleas, mites, chiggers, ticks and mosquitoes, and having been attacked by yellow jackets and wasps, the less insectoid and arachnoid cohabitants, the better. Cheers!
Dave Canterbury has been pointing out the need for smoking your debris hut for decades. In fact, it needs to be done every evening. Huge pita and fire risk, too.
Watched you guys on Alone on tv . Thought you were going to win easily . You guys got bored after you built the cabin but lack of food was key . You guys built the best shelter ever and my wife and I were rootin for ya . The brothers from Canada were just miserable there at the end . What a tough competition . You are all winners in my book . My wife and I are both disabled , so watchin what you were capable of was amazing . God Bless .
food is always key. Shelters, etc, for this show and for all survival stuff, must be kept simple, and easily portable, at least until you've fed yourself well for at least a month and have put ahead at least 100 lbs of preserved food (per person) you can't eat firewood or shelters, guys. you need to be making a pontoon outrigger raft and lots of netting, so you can be fishing out beyond the kelp beds and so you'll have the fishheads and guts with which to bait in a bear and arrow it from a tree blind. Juice the kelp for your carb needs.
Thanks Buzzx04 we didn't get bored at all... and our shelter kept us occupied for a long time and that's important. It was a simple lack of food. That's a really tough time of year to START out there.
Hi, Brooke! Hi, Dave! Relatively new Subscriber, here. I love what you guys do. Your so blessed to have one another and the wholesome, meaningful lives your leading. Thanks so much for your efforts to share with the rest of us. Incidentally...I was so rooting for you guys on this season's "Alone," & still can't quite understand how you weren't the grand winners... (...of the t.v. show, that is!) Best to both of you... ~D.S.
Loving your date night bushcraft videos! It's UNIQUE! Love your chat about working together... Keep it up - You'll definitely gain audience with that angle! :)
I been wanting to build a debris shelter in our backwoods for awhile now. I really like your design and the double ridge pull. There is quite a variety if trees., hardwoods, poplar and birch and pines. I should be to come up with some thing ya would think... Thanks for the inspiration.
Haha nice video nice couple you are, thanks for sharing. Brook you make me laugh ! Nice Cuppa Tea with the English accent 😎 Do we really sound like that lol 👍🇬🇧
Can't wait to get my Ukrainian country girl to the wilds of Maine so we can have our own adventures like yours. The best date nights ever. Awesome hat, lady. And Subbed!
Hey woman! Nice lookin shelter you 2 made! U guys work awesome together! Both of u compliment each other... that's a great partnership! Nice to see both of you n a video... I'm slowly catching up on the old vids.
Very Cool little bit of background Info. I too lived in Alaska for a few years(Fairbanks, Anchorage & Seward) and am now a UP transplant...lol..... My wife is from there, long story short, She won the Coin Toss....
Brooke, I love both you and Dave's channels. You guys should do a video on safe drinking water in the bush. Streams, natural springs and ground water. If you already have, let me know where I can find it. Thanks
Nice video. I think my wife would be there right up to the spider part then she would say "have fun see you tomorrow." We live in Michigan and I take my son up to the UP every year for hiking and fishing for a week. That tea sounds good by the way.
I binge watched all your son's videos. I was going to do the same with yours. But then I checked how many you have and O.O This one was good xD really good. ty
I know this video is old but I just saw this and loved it. I was wondering how did you both learn all of this, I mean your cabins are just beautiful. And what do you both do for a living. I mean you guys should have your own tv show. You guys rock.
I’m late to this party, but I got questions...does the smoke get rid of the spiders? Do they stay away? How long do you smoke the shelter? Have you had bad bites before? My fear of insects prevents me from living a true life of outdoor happiness.
I got hurt at work so I'm stuck in the house binge watching UA-cam. You should do some more videos with your husband you guys are really entertaining together. Also if you can, Please do some more parody videos those were great. Maybe Lars from Survival Russia that would be hilarious. Haven't got to see you on ALONE yet I'm hoping maybe tomorrow. Thanks for all the good videos I'm going crazy stuck in the house they really help.
Sorry about your injury! Glad you can kick back and at least enjoy some tube time- sometimes that's nice too. I have more parodies lined up... stay tuned!
I guess the maple sap on the west coast is a different make up than the heavy [syrup] sap on the east coast? Does it taste syrupy? Am lovin' going through all your old videos' Thanks much and be well!
Well done. I have used a debris hut in the winter. I want to build one for summer use but the idea of spiders and snakes have kept me from it. Would you use this smoking technique every time you used it in warm weather? What would stop them from coming back (while you are sleeping) after the smoke fire is out? Thanks for any tips and help on this subject
On our first date, I told my wife that I wanted to take her camping in Colorado.....so about a month and a half later, and just a few weeks after emergency gallbladder surgery, we did just that! It's just too bad that it was just a little too early in September before the aspens really lit up!
I really enjoy watching the two of you together. I'm a bit concerned having a fire near your brushpile shelter. Isn't that risky? And what about snakes?

Brooke, you and David are two of the most refreshing personalities I have had the pleasure to watch on You Tube! Really enjoy your videos!
I never knew about smudging my shelter before using it. One more piece of useful information, thank you! You are both a pleasure to watch.
I think it's a perfect date night, love it!!!! And yall are freaking hilarious. I was literally having a rough day, came here, watched this & feel better. Love & hugs.
Hey thanks much Angie!
love those houses you guys have built!!
I LOVE the houses you've built!
Love how you two go about things, appreciating the simple pleasures of wilderness without reviewing saws, knives and hatchets that are expensive. Love the review of the one dollar saw. You rock!
"Make sure there's nothing here that's going to catch on fire."...a second later Booke is on fire and hubby is laughing...epic.

Yeah ticks are disgusting! No ticks in AK and I'm not sure there are any on Vancouver island either.
Good to see you camping together.
Yall make one heck of a team! Thanks for sharing this experience!
Nicely done, and all your cabins were beautiful!

Good times!
Working together and sharing knowledge together, I say thumbs up. Keep on keeping on.
You guys' first date was a camping trip together!!!! That's surreal!! The Whipple's are too cool!!
Agree with you about the hatchet. Some of the best bush gear I own came from yard sales.
us too!

LOL as soon as you said nothing out here is going to catch on fire xD BOOM your pants were on fire. I hope you didn't get hurt, but that was SO funny.
You guys are cute! ❤️
Very cool!
How did you get the first poles to stand up? Just leaning them against each other? Or are they tied together?
Smoke out the spiders! I have been wondering about bugs with those debis shelters.

I met my husband camping 33 years ago
On our first date, I told my wife that I wanted to take her camping in Colorado.....so about a month and a half later, and just a few weeks after emergency gallbladder surgery, we did just that! It's just too bad that it was just a little too early in September before the aspens really lit up!

I knew you were Hott~~But on fire? Haahaa!! Great work on the basket women!! :P
Cheezy corn balls are great!! LOL!! Laughing makes us live longer! Good for the soul Indeed!!
Sweeeeeeet😊👌🤝
I really enjoy watching the two of you together. I'm a bit concerned having a fire near your brushpile shelter. Isn't that risky? And what about snakes?
It's far enough out front- it's fine. And no snakes in winter.
❤❤❤
