Ah, so many books in one video! I loved this video, made me want to pop onto book depository and buy a crateful, so I could have all my books for the year sorted, like you do!

Neverwhere and The Giver are great books. There's a series with The Giver. The next book is called Gathering Blue, then Messenger, which is finally ended with Son. All of them are great!!!

@wintersfire Yes, I'm a pretty big fan of that show. It's kind of the reason I wanted to read Sherlock Holmes in the first place.

I'm at a lost for words. I'm so happy I found your channel. I've been looking for good books to read for about a year now. I always end up stumbling upon some good ones, but more so, not so good ones. Thank you for letting us see your Library!

I can't remember how much of it I've read, but I did really enjoy the story. It's one of those really tragic books (which I'm a big fan of).

@orangejeepgirl9328 It was for my BA in English Lit & Culture and I wrote about The Lady of Shalott and compared 'Song of the Sparrow' and 'Avalon High'. I mainly looked at the way the poem was incorporated in the books and the different ways the author's had interpreted it.

They were in the cupboard under the stairs. (No but really, they were in one of the compartments of my bed and I forgot to show them. I own the entire series in English and Dutch).

  • @booksandquills
    @booksandquills  13 років тому

@jolikeshedgehogs Hahaha of course I do! But I completely forgot to show them. They're in a different cabinet above my bed. I own all of them in Dutch and English (and I have two French versions)

I have a public library tab open alongside this one; i am searching and placing holds on the books I think are interesting. When they come in I will need to pull my over-sized book bag to get them home.

The old book that you pull out at 6:50, I have a book with a similar cover - I don't even know what it is but I bought it because of the inscription on the inside cover "from mother and father, Xmas 1914" - I was just amazed by the times that the book has lived through!

I loved Eragon and Eldest but about half way through Brisingr I felt a bit bored of it... I'm going to have to read it and see if the break was enough to get back into it... also have Inheritance. Which of course I haven't read yet since i need to finish Brisingr first.
I wish I had all your shelves! I would have more books! My to read list is huge!.

I love your books. I had to read A Marble Fawn for class too and I unfortunately don't think I finished it now that I'm thinking about it. Read Canterbury Tales in high school English...kind of want to reread it. Sherlock Homes is now on my (ever growing) to read list because I just finished watching the BBC version.

Sometimes I get this need to reread books, but the amount of new and unread ones on my selves discourages me from rereading. Sometimes I fear that this will go on forever, because lately (on a large acount because of you!) I have become obsessed with buying new books. So thanks for mentioning the Book Depository, so much cheaper than any other side! :)

@jullachris90 The only anthology I own is the one in my video (the Norton one). There are different volumes (with 2000 super thin pages each) and they have lotttttts of poetry, but also essays and info on authors etc. Maybe if you already know which poet/time period you like, you could start searching for a collection based on that. And yes, of course you can count them in the challenge :)

I had to read the great gatsby in school yrs ago and it felt like a chore so hopefully ill enjoy it more this time. You have quite a few books that I own, and books that I would like to read. I organize my bookshelves like a bookstore; so by genre and then by author. Which sometimes put a tiny book beside a large book, and that annoys my symmetry focused mind.

Hi, remarkable library, indeed, but I haven't seen any Italian book! I suggest you for example Buzzati (the tartar Steppe , not sure about the english title), Pavese (anything), Calvino (The Baron on the trees), Fenoglio (A private affair)... in their books they describe mostly the post-war scenario, but they wrote such great books!

I just saw that one of your great ideas books was Utopia. I just finished my module on early modern utopian writing for university and I highly recommend the book. But I think the reading experience would be really helped if you had some background knowledge on humanism and Thomas More's life. It's kind of a tough book to get through, not exactly light reading. But it really does deal with some interesting questions, made even more fascinating in the context of early modern philosophy.

Most of Austen's novels are also in my "to-read" bookshelf, as are Neverwhere and 1984 (same editions as yours :P) . I've read The Glass Books of the Dream Eathers a couple of years ago and I really liked it. I loved the setting and characters in it. I have seen the movie of Never Let Me Go and I really want to read the book, but I haven't found a cheap enough edition yet. And... I also have the Twilight series in my Shelf of Shame :P
