I chuckle at how many defendants seem to think that once they're served with papers to come to court they can't contact the plaintiff and settle out of court. Of course, those defendants who DO realize they can settle often don't wind up on The People's Court.

The Plaintiff reminded me of that one time some random woman who approached me, but she was kind enough not to interrupt my conversation with my friend, and when I turned my attention towards her I asked her what she needed help with, she responded "Hi can you speak English?", I was so caught off guard as I gave her a weird look and responded "You obviously knew I just spoke to you in English, plus you stood there while I was still talking to him(my friend), in English". She said because of the area she wasn't sure if people spoke English, and I was like "Madam, I get that your not from around here, but don't assume, people will think your a bigot.". She gave me an evil look and than cat-walked away in her stiletto's. My friend and I didn't even talked about the encounter till like 3 years later when a similar situation reminded us about it.
What a great couple. He's so handsome and she is so beautiful. He seems to be very sensitive, and she is very shrewd but fair. Both are very wise. They balance each other out perfectly. Love does conquer all if we let it.

The arborist was bilking both female neighbors, JJ empowered the women to not allow him to do that, they were quite conciliatory to each other in the courtroom, hugged in the exit interview, that got back to JM so she appeared wanting to get in on the hugs, then the two litigants left arm in arm! First and only time I think Doug was dumbfounded (I believe it was during the Doug Llewellyn days) it was one of the best episodes I've seen on PC! *EDIT* Another individual was kind enough to post the episodes name; 'Beamer Bummer', for those interested in watching it for the first time, or to rewatch a delightful case!
I love how the defendant makes a statement at the end about the plaintiff deciding to sue her instead of coming to her and talking. First tye defendant knew already so she could've just paid but second the defendant isn't the type of person you can talk too. With her attitude and down talk (about the fence) she would definitely not make it easy. I wonder if the defendant is the type of person who complains that nobody ever just discusses things with her instead of admitting that she can be a difficult person and then working on that.
All that was required here was a little communication and cooperation from these ladies and the whole thing would have come to an amicable resolution. Why is that so hard for people? It's just a fence.
It may be "just a fence" but if someone else damages ur property, they should pay to repair it. Based on the defendant rolling her eyes and head, I don't know if I would find it easy to interact with her. She refused to give the plaintiff the phone number. In some cases, it's best to allow someone else to settle it for you. This seems like one of those cases to me.

I can tell the Defendant is the problem. The amount of times she rolled her eyes, spoke over the judge, insulted the plaintiff, & was utterly unreasonable demonstrates that. The fact that plaintiff even let the Defendant’s tree cover up half the side of her house for that long without saying anything, shows that she is a reasonable & even kind person. Defendant just comes off like a jerk. Then, she thinks the Plaintiff has to hire her people to fix it? Ridiculous. And so what if the plaintiff’s fence was cheap. It doesn’t matter. This reminded me of an Audit the Audit video. Roof contractor was replacing a roof, it started to rain. Damaged the renter's property. Roof guy offered to put them up in a hotel for 2 nights, offered insurance to cover all damages. The renters instead refused to let him leave (he was going to the hotel to pay for the room) and called 911. Renters wouldnt listen. Yeah, bad thing happened, its inconvenient, but roof guy was legit working to make it right. Even after the renter was threatening him.

That is a huge tree and it would take a professional to go up the tree to cut the huge branches safely and by going up the tree, he would have to go onto the neighbour's property, so she would have to ask permission from the neighbour and then end up paying for something that should be done by the neighbour, in the first place...

The terrible woman is too stingy to cough up a measly 150 bucks fo fix the fence because (a) the fence is not good enough for her (b) she has a relative who will do an el cheapo job to fix it (although he hadn't bothered to do it). Her el cheapo solution is the "third world kind of job" that she thinks she is too good for. She gets continuous complaints about things because she doesn't do the right thing. I bet the reason the fence got damaged is because she employed an el cheapo contractor.
