- The Pimax Crystal is the newest Virtual Reality headset from Pimax, and is the first Standalone All-In-One VR Glasses from the line. This means that the headset can be used completely without the use of external Computer and cables! This significantly increases ease of use. The tracking of movements is done in the headset itself. By means of built-in cameras, the headset can determine the space around itself and thus accurately image the Controllers.
The Pimax Crystal uses aspherical lenses to improve light transmittance (compared to with plastic lenses). These lenses also ensure that the pixel density (PPD) is maximized, making the screen particularly sharp.

Awesome, as an old HTC Vive user I really can appreciate the addition of the Vive in the comparison. It really gives a good idea of how far the improvement has gone, and I think the Crystal might be the first headset I feel excited for as a good replacement of the Vive without compromises.

got the 5k + when it came and except for the high FOV i was pretty damn disappointed. I use Reverb G2 now and i like that one alot
@@ProGen6 Me too! Thought It will be a decent upgrade to my Pico Neo 3 but the image quality sucks. It's like looking through a 90's TV screen with those dull colors and poor resolution. The FOV is indeed nice!
How can I change resolution for the Crystal in AC? Would like to use openxr an just override, but the overlay doesn't show up.
What about the HP Reverb G2?
On par I assume, I have G2 and by looking at this video it seems that crystal is somewhere equal to it, best case just a fraction better.
@@ali09gaming58 if it's equal than no point of getting Crystal. I already have the G2 from HP.
I think the G2 is comparable to 8KX
@@ali09gaming58 The Reverb G2 is 24 PPD vs the Crystal's 35 PPD. Plus Fresnel lenses vs glass aspheric lenses. LCD vs QLED. And Crystal has a significantly wider FOV, too. So no, the G2 is hardly on par. And it's not close.

And what kind of GPU can run this Resolution at 90hz or more?
Nothing, I have a pico 4 which is lower resolution and my 4090 can't run automobilista at 90hz unless I turn down settings, limit the amount of cars and have dry clear weather.
@@SimVRRacing exactly all those VR Very high Ress cant be used other than lower the setting very much on even 4090 High end GPU
@@Tripokaridos22 4090 seems to easily run everything in ultra settings in MSFS in VR from the videos I've seen.
If they implement foveated rendering with eye tracking, you could easily hit high fps even with a 3070. This technology allows a PS5 to hit 120 fps with PSVR2 and I am pretty sure that a PC with a 3070 is at least as good if not better than a PS5 hardware.
@@tarksable Dirt Rally 2.0 on Ultra setting and 120 fps ? I dont think that even 4090 can do that. And even if it can we are talking about a very very old game . And also one very very new and expensive GPU

Battery life only lasts 4 hours and has to be plugged in.... what a horrible design decision, no on in their right mind should buy this.
My quest 2 lasts 2 hours.
@@ToureTaylor your quest 2 lasts indefinitely when plugged in to a proper usb outlet...
@@crimsom2977 I usually take it out when it reaches 95%. Leaving it plugged in can do harm on the battery's lifespan. But the facial interface is not comfortable no matter what 3rd party facial interface I use. So usually, I am taking intervals of breaks after 30 minutes of usage.
I also have the Pimax 5K Super, which is more comfortable yet, too much to work with.
@@ToureTaylor you might be the only person in the world who thinks a pimax is more comfortable than a quest 2
