    Great Video, watched it after I set up. Wished I would have found this video before hand.

    Where do I get a storage rack for material like you have. That looks perfect for small sheet goods….Thanks in Advance!

      This actually came from Hobby Lobby. It was what they had photo mattes on. They were selling several fixtures and we nabbed this for like $15. Wish we could have gotten more!!!

    Hey there! it looks like you are set up in a retail space?was wondering if you have or had any issues with people complaining about fumes? Ive been having a hard time getting anyone to lease me a space when I tell them im laser engraving 😧

    • @malonecustomdesigns
      @malonecustomdesigns  Рік тому

      Hey Shannon, yes we are in a retail space. Our machine is vented through the exterior wall. On our exterior wall side, we don't have anyone right next to us so it hasn't been an issue. In fact, so many people walk into our store and immediately talk about how good it smells in here. Most of what we cut/engrave is wood. However, we have had some "sidewalk walkers" come inside to let us know we had smoke coming out the side of our building lol.
      Just make sure whoever you are leasing from provides you with a way to vent outside your building and you shouldn't have much problem with a fume smell.

    Jay, I am in the process of setting up my Thunder 35/80. I received the same blower fan that you have on yours. The newer Thunder machines are being shipped with an in line cannister blower (looks much improved!). Many people have replaced the blower like yours with an Amazon model 8", cannister in line model blower. Are you happy with the blower you received with your Thunder, or do you feel the need to upgrade to an Amazon model? Thanks.....Mike in Nashville

      Hey Mike. We have actually replaced ours as well. We replaced it with a 6” Infinity. It doesn’t necessarily work “better” than the stock fan, but it is WAY QUIETER! I did buy the adapter to plug it into the back of the laser, that way, it will automatically kick on while you are using the laser. Here’s a link to the fan that we have. amzn.to/3KfePJj

    When putting the vent hose on, put the fan on a table and put the hoses on the fan first. It will be easier, and you are not kneeling on the floor all hunched over.

    great video Jay! My Nova 35/100 is coming on Monday! I am coming from a Glowforge as well! Thank you for the videos. excited to see what you guys cut and engrave first! Are you guys using Lightburn or something else? Mac or Windows?
    Best of luck with your first burns.

    • @malonecustomdesigns
      @malonecustomdesigns  2 роки тому +2

      That’s awesome! We are using LightBurn with a Mac. In fact, we purchased the LightBridge so we can use it wirelessly from both of our computers! It’s working wonderfully!
      It is a totally different machine than the Glowforge. Learning the speed and power settings for everything is the biggest deal. It takes lots of testing.
      Thanks for watching! Best of luck with yours!

    Hi!!! Love your tutorials!!! I have a GF Pro and looking to upgrade (for speed and size) to a thunder 35/100, but I’m scared! LoL! Few questions for ya:
    1. I hear you don’t have to mask anymore? Is this true?
    2. How much faster does it cut and engrave than a GlowForge?
    3. No camera? How do you manage? Coming from a GF I feel like I would be lost without a camera!! How do you do it?
    Thanks a bunch!!

    • @malonecustomdesigns
      @malonecustomdesigns  2 роки тому

      Hey Becka, you won’t regret it.
      1. Wrong, we still mask or sand all of our wood items that are engraved. The cuts however, are cleaner. If you were to add an additional air compressor, your cuts would be perfect. We still use the included air pump.
      2. We do have a video talking about this, but most engraves are about 2-3 times faster on our Thunder.
      3. Watch my video on getting perfect alignment, or the video about using a knife jig. We can get way better alignment WITHOUT a camera. You can literally start your laser head anywhere you want to start it. And you can frame it before you engrave it. We no longer have a need for the camera. With that being said, you can add one. We purchased one and have never installed it lol.
      Be sure to watch a few other videos and you will see how we use “origin” to start our laser where we want it. It’s AWESOME.

    How much area did this actually use? Looks like you are in a 10 x 10 space ? I have a Thunder 35 arriving in the next few weeks and need to make space for it :)

    • @malonecustomdesigns
      @malonecustomdesigns  2 роки тому

      Oh you are gonna love it! The dimensions on the 80W machine are 59.1" x 43.5" x 40.9" but you need to have space to place your chiller on the left side of it and room behind it for your exaust. The laser is at our store, we are closed until Tuesday, but as soon as I can get you an overall "footprint" I will!

    Hey Jay,Two question. What size is the hose for the vent 4", or 6" and do you plug a laptop to the back off it thanks my wife machine is coming any day now thunder 35

    • @malonecustomdesigns
      @malonecustomdesigns  2 роки тому

      Hey Fred. The outlet hose is 6”. And you can plug a laptop into the side of the machine…however, we have never hooked it directly to the machine. We use a LightBurn LightBridge. It’s a wireless device that connects to the laser and allows multiple computers to connect over wifi to the laser. We use two computers in our shop connected to it. I need to do a shop tour soon!!
