I'd love to see a 29-year-old Luke Skywalker revisit Tatooine, and have this experience, having a flashback (the deleted scene with Luke and Biggs Darklighter discussing the conflict between The Rebellion and The Empire) to the day before he left tatooine, in A New Hope. Anakin wasn’t a slave to the Jedi. The Jedi never forced Anakin to stay with them and would have sent Obi-Wan to look after Anakin if he did quit, per a canon comic.

The Jedi Council literally brainwashed Anakin to leave his mother behind to train to become a Jedi only to mistreat, disrespect, and mistrust the Chosen One who must fullfill the prophecy (of defeating the Sith, bringing balance to the force, saving the Galaxy) since he was 9 years old fresh out of childhood enslavement. Not to mention having to call your "mentor/friend/brother" master and other Jedis of higher ranking master must've triggered painful, traumatic memories.

I'm with Luke on his position with Darth Vader. Given what Anakin went through and how he was raised by the Jedi Order, his sense of morality was warped long before he turned to the dark side (and in my opinion the Jedis' sense of morality was worse then Anakin's). Because of all that I cannot condemn him for any of his actions as Darth Vader.
At the same time I don't condone them or justify them either. He had ample opportunities to make different decisions that would've set himself free from both his inner darkness, the Jedi order, and Darth Sidious. Granted in his position and state of mind it would've been VERY difficult for him to do, and IMPOSSIBLE for him to go it alone(which is why he ultimately sought out Darth Sidious). But it was possibilities were still there.

Despite Anakin being an arrogant and selfish person, the Jedi after Qui-Gon’s death did nothing to deal with the suppression of trauma from Anakin’s past life. Avoiding attachment and not giving real support only pushed a broken and desperate man to what he thought was his only option. Though Luke’s Order was not a utopia, it was by and large extremely better than the previous two Orders.

    • @SWDude2710

He wasn't that completely selfish, dude, because, despite his darker traits, he was still a good man who suffered so much trauma and lost his mother that it drove him to be so obsessive over his wife due to his inability to accept loss.
He was prideful and arrogant due to his power and skills too, but it should not take away the fact that Anakin was always trying to be a good person and had a good heart and cared too much for people, which is why he would act like he does in terms of his aggressive moments and such.
