- Dive into the complex world of power dynamics with David McCubbin as he delves into the concept of Artificial Integrity (AI) in his thought-provoking TEDx talk. Drawing on his background in drama and leadership communication, McCubbin explores how AI operates as a psychological strategy rooted in human nature, often wielded by individuals seeking to assert control and dominance. Through compelling storytelling and insightful analysis, he unveils the deceptive nature of AI and offers strategies for recognizing and challenging it. From dissecting the narrative of "I and I alone can protect you" to advocating for genuine questioning and holding one's ground, McCubbin provides a roadmap for dismantling illegitimate power structures and fostering healthier relationships based on shared power and truth. Join us on this journey to uncover the truth behind power dynamics and learn how to navigate them with integrity and resilience.
As COUP Founder and Managing Director, David has pioneered the adoption of skills and disciplines from dramatic art as effective learning and development mechanisms in dozens of blue-chip corporations across banking, professional services, retail, pharma, telecoms, tertiary education, social housing and government. He has designed and delivered countless development programs for senior leaders and provided executive coaching to C-suite execs, CEO's and senior academics. He founded COUP with Annie in 2001. Since then they have delivered programs across Australasia and abroad. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Thank you, David. Still blown away by the term ‘artificial integrity’ and it’s impact. A great session! Thank you!
Thank you, Shanti. The worry is when Artificial Intelligence meets Artificial Integrity. I hope we keep ahead of it.
I watched "social dilemma", I think we have lost already.
Thanks for sharing David! Such a profound TEDx talk and truth needing to be shared.
Wow! That's powerful! Thank you sincerely for sharing it!
After discovering everything I had over this past few weeks, in regards to hateful manipulative actions behind my back, ( a lot of indications, hypocricey, narcissism, etc...), i just want to say thank you for sharing this clip. 🙏
Sorry to hear you've been targeted. Thanks for letting me know the talk is useful.
Just ignore it !
I think the more you focus on something that you like and want in your life !
You just don’t have a time to waste it for nonsense thing ! I call it « distraction » . . . Take it as an exercise to focus on yourself !
Awesome presentation, I thoroughly enjoyed it. And how true. Thank you for sharing pertinent information, so helpful in moving forward in freedom, without fear of power and control brokers out for themselves, using the likes of corrupt religion, government and war mongers dividing peoples against each other. ❤️🎶🍁
I really appreciate the insights!
such a powerful talk, with so many salient points. Well done🤩
Great talk - such an important subject. So well expressed and illustrated. Thank you
Thanks TP. I’ve always thought the film set was the exemplar of great teamwork and collaboration, despite the sensational horror stories. Choosing you moment, picking your battles. Definitely come to work skills for cinema professionals, don’t you think?
Great presentation, bang on point. Nice one David. Sharing now!
Thank you so much. This was a great presentation.
Every person in a relationship should watch this 😂
Every parent should see this, too 🙂
Thank you. I can’t tell you how much drama I’ve avoided by having an eye on the power dynamics.
@@SMALLDANE I agree that being explicit about power, in a practical way, helps parents make good decisions about boundaries. It’s ok to be the one in charge, as long as there are times when you’re not.
And who is Not? We are all In the relationships.
@@Chi100Maria agree. Power dynamics are present in every moment in every relationship. Not always toxic or abusive. But always present.
He was spot on !! Thank you, buddy 💜
I love this talk. The content is matched by the delivery in thoughtfulness, interest, and value.
Thank you Joshua. You’ve nailed my ambition for this talk. 🙏
Well done - great insight and presentation - important material.
Thanks Heather Jean. 🙏
Hugely insightful...and moving.
Excellent, David!! 🙏👏
Thank you Mez
Thought provoking...
"Unsubstantiated entitlement" indeed. Reward systems activated. Overreach. We just want them to stop. Stand in inquiry. Hold your ground.
And Speak the Truth.
Amen
🙂
That’s the best summation. Thank you.
Loved the 'tantrum', ....& how you managed to get up again!!!
It was a bit of a struggle 😊
Well said
Helluva talk 👍🔥
Thank you darid a the still
Great 👍
We/A Lot of us are Being Manipulated Now More than (Practically) Ever Before.

Politicians give the war cry and people still go to wars. So very sad. I stopped voting. I am not convinced! Excellent.
I stopped voting as well. Voting changes absolutely nothing (unless it's local for City councils, boards etc.).
Artificial Integrity - expose it for what it is and offer suggestions for disarming it...ooh. a major challenge
"artificial integrity" made me wince. I thought the clickbait title belied matters of determinism & agency. "Hi I'm a theater major, and today, I'm going to talk. People make me feel sad, sometimes." O rly
😂. Theatre major! Sorry you feel baited. If you'd like to talk about determinism and agency, I'd love to understand your view. How can we discuss agency without recognising the mechanisms and decisions that give a person agency? How can we talk about determinism without addressing the cues for action that give someone the power to determine their future? This isn't the forum of course. I think we live in different worlds and I'd like to understand yours. In my world, I see political leaders hoodwink vast populations, and no one can describe it in a way that puts an end to the nonsense. In our country, we have a huge issue with men killing women, often ex-intimate partners. This Theatre Major wants to shake the tree. Happy to learn from you. Reach out. 🙏
48 Laws of Power.
Yes. Read it. I’m planning to reach out to Robert Greene to discuss our shared conclusions.
nis 👍
What if you're being manipulated by media conglomerates?
You need to do your own research. But beware, there are a lot of charlatans that have convincing dialogs that are basically not true. Check their credentials, and not just what they claim (plus I have heard supposed experts say factually wrong things).
If? That's their prime objective.
The 3 card system.
You got it!
1. Destabilise
2. Reassure
3. Coerce
Awfully effective when executed well.
Ervery peeson in relationship should watsh this

Oh yeah soviet union, gulag, concentration camps, holodomor starving to death 6 million people in one year, thats what you want

No wtf, I'm not being manipulated m
People who can't see it, are most likely to be affected 👍
If you cannot see the power lines they are probably tugging at you. There's so many different goals requiring people to do different things... It's almost guaranteed.
We’re all slaves
Unless we exercise freedom by holding ground when the tyrant commands
Christ that was patronisingly dull
Sorry Dee. At least you won't have to watch it again. (Please don't call me Christ.) 😉
@@coupleader didn’t watch it. It was in my ears at work
@@DeeTeaDeeI thought it was more interesting than most Ted talks. He incorporated much gesticulating.& physical movement 🙂 So yes it's different watching vs listening, imo.
Introvert triggered by watching it and another commenting after listening to a physical presentation. Ok then.
@@lucindaarmour7422 why did you say that Lucy?😥😓
Omg, speculative talking with no real point
My point? Be aware. Your post could be described as the action "to belittle", or to "dismiss". It's easy to play simple dismissive psychological actions from the bunker of anonymity provided by online communications. Build the habit of being reckless with your actions, and you might damage important relationships. Is that who you want to be? Probably not. That's my point.
Does this feel like a slap-down? Sorry. Not my intent. When preparing the talk, I was super aware of everything I couldn't go into in 15 minutes. It's only possible to go from speculation to decisive action with a conversation, not a talk. Happy to have one with you, if you're interested.
