    8:20 for this question you might find it easier to just simplify to x = 16^y and then take the log. You don't need to hold on to the 2 in the exponent, it can just be written as 16^x

    • @only1kingz
      @only1kingz 8 днів тому

      That wouldn't help as much since the answer choices clearly want to keep the 2 separate from the 4. The easiest way to do this is to actually just take the log base 4 of both sides, rather than the generic log base 10 and having to do the base change later

    For the expected value question, could you have also just multiplied each number on the side and its number of sides and summed those together and divided that sum by 12 to get the same answer? Did I just happen to get lucky when doing that or is that also another method?

    Hello coach, I've got a question:
    In the first "Repeating patterns" question, why did you try to break down that 123 exponent to the closest multiple of 4, instead of going directly to choosing 3, which is a clear multiple of 123 (3*41 = 123)?
    Because, if you followed the method I described above, it seems that we can easily interpret the 123 exponent as the base 7 to the 3rd exponent multiplied 41 times; meaning the number 5 in the units spot repeated 41 times, which lands us directly on 5 as the number in the units of 7.
    Is this reasoning correct?

    • @preppros
      @preppros  5 місяців тому +6

      No, your reasoning is mistaken. You need to go to the end of the pattern. Every multiple of 3 is not going to be a 3. For example, if we have a repeating decimal 0.12341234, the value at the 3rd point after the decimal is 3 and the value at the 6th point after the decimal is 2. The patterns only repeats on the exact multiple if you go to the back of the pattern. The fact that 123 is 3*41 is a multiple of 3 and ends up working here is just lucky...that method will not work consistently.

    • @freakyunderdog
      @freakyunderdog 5 місяців тому +3

      @@preppros Perfect, thanks coach!!
      So this method of going to the end of the pattern is guaranteed to always work right?
      I appreciate your time.

    Great video and an excellent explanation. However, question number 2 is not fully explained because it is also possible that the ellipse is vertical (not always horizontal). If it is a vertical ellipse, then the answer would be C (not B. Am I right?

    • @preppros
      @preppros  5 місяців тому +4

      I'm glad you enjoyed it! No, you are incorrect. The answer must be B and the explanation in the video is complete.
      As you can see in the video, when I solve for the ellipse, the values in the denominator tell us how far left and right and up or down the ellipse goes. Since the denominator of the x^2 term is 12, the ellipse goes left and right by root 12, and since the denominator of the y^2 term is 9, the ellipse goes up and down by 3. The only way the ellipse in this question can look is how I drew it.
      If the values in the denominator were switch (so the 9 was below the x^2 and the 12 was below the y^2), then it would be a vertical ellipse. Even if it were switched, the answer would still be B though, since for a circle to be inscribed, the radius of the circle must match the smaller portion of the ellipse.

    Can anyone tell me why (at 5:48) He uses b=3 for the radius instead of a= root 12? I just wanna clarify that because there are two options for both

    • @carsonhutteger4789
      @carsonhutteger4789 4 місяці тому

      Because it’s the smaller of the two numbers. If he were to the root 12 as the radius of the circle it wouldn’t be inscribed by the ellipse anymore but 3 fits inside of the ellipse. Hopefully that makes sense

  • @theskyisblue6810
    @theskyisblue6810 4 місяці тому +3

    Maybe this is a case of wrong formula, right answer, but for #58 logarithms, can’t you just immediately go from X = 4^2Y to log4 (X) = 2y, and then divide both sides by 2 to isolate y, getting answer B?

    • @preppros
      @preppros  4 місяці тому

      Yes, that would work as well! You clearly understand logs very well if you spotted that, so you can use that shortcut method for sure.

    My son got 33 math, 34 reading, 36 writing.
    June trail is the last trail for him as he is in grade12 (Egypt)
    Any suggestions to reach 36, is there any way to buy a certain section in your course to help him😢

    • @preppros
      @preppros  2 місяці тому

      The Ultimate ACT Course includes access to all of my ACT courses for $99/month, so that is the best way to get him access to everything for practice for the June ACT.
      For math, I would recommend getting a copy of my ACT Math Book and having him work on all level 3 and level 4 practice questions. This will help give him the best chance to improve on Math. The Reading Course should also help give him some tips to potentially improve. Also, the practice tests will be good for him to work on as well.
      What was his score in Science? And was the 36 in Writing you referred to for the English? If you sign him you, you are welcome to email me at matt@preppros.io, and I can help give more guidance on the best parts of the course for him to focus on.
