Robert Redford is a very sincere, correct and transparent person .He is an excellent actor and he has never won an Oscar for "Best Actor". On several occasions he deserved to win but never won. He is 77 years old and waited his whole life for this Oscar. He won Best Director and Honorary Oscar, but never " "Best Actor". I believe that because he is a person who is not afraid to say what he thinks and believes in what is fair. Robert Redford was not nominated " Best Actor" for Oscar 2014 and he deserved to win for "All Is Lost" . An injustice, "again" !..."Robert never forget ....you're " Best Actor " at the heart of many people"

My sentimental favorite performance by Redford was as a twenty-something, wounded police officer in a classic Twilight Zone episode, "Nothing In the Dark." Even all those years ago, you could so clearly, and eloquently see all of the marvelous heart and sensitivity of this marvelous actor. God bless him.

First saw Redford in "Jeremiah Johnson". He was awesome...and still is a greatly talented man. Loved "Ordinary People"...thought Mary Tyler Moore should have won that Oscar.

In his heyday, Robert Redford was the best looking actor in Hollywood. There is no actor today that matches how handsome he was. He was breath taking to look at whenever he was onscreen. Even the women couldn't match him onscreen.😎😍

Man when you see these two larger than life giants on the stage together, you can't help but to realize how the industry had changed. Streisand and Redford really are two of the most conic and legendary REAL movie stars we have left; both truly in league of their own.

What is missing today is DEPTH. Very few of today's Hollywood people are as educated or as intelligent and they lack the capacity to express themselves eloquently. I cannot imagine many (any?) of them reading Tolstoy or Dostoyevsky, or knowing much about really great artists such as Stravinsky, Debussy or Brahms. They are mostly 2-dimensional people living in a 3-dimensional world.
Eastwood is still around. Just as big of a giant in the acting industry. I would say more so. Also a brilliant director.
Seeing them together is like Beauty and The Beast. You can guess.

Robert Redford is one of the best from Hollywood.
I saw a clip of the way we were then this came up 20years after the event and a long time after seeing the film when I was 18, just loved the way he called her Babs, nice to see they remained friends in life.
I watch the clips from a lot of the Oscar ceremonies from years ago and I think, "Gee, who in today's generation of "artists" will leave such an indelible mark on film?" There will be very few. I hate to think that the best on the silver screen is behind us, but I find myself watching TCM more than any other channel and enjoying the same movies over and over again. Thank goodness those classics are so readily available today.
There will never be another Oscar night as great as this night right here

Robert Redford is the man. I have not seen his movies until last year, in a movie where he is certainly over 50 years old. That movie became my favorite and i watched some of his old movies and he instantly became my favorite.

This was in 1971 I was driving cab at night one of this big checker cab with a radio to get calls at that time I use to work out 10 street hudson st. that was the only company that had checker cabs in new york after that you could not see them anymore so one night working up on 90s 5th avenue a door man comes out looking for a cab so I pull up and their go's Robert Redford with his son so he get's in he tell me to take him downtown so we get to where he was going he pays for the fair then he give's me a 25 cent tip love those checker cab's

A fitting introduction from a gorgeous woman (Best female singer) to one of the 2 most gorgeous men Hollywood saw, the other is Paul Newman. Oscars were not awarded to either men on time, and if so too little too late - both unparalleled in talent and looks - to date.

This guy had such a presence in the Capt movie. Really great choice as the villain.
I do like the zany laugh-a-minute speeches if it's a particular actor/actress way to perform, but there's none better than a serious, sincere, thought provoking speech, despite these awards being only 5 months after the World Trade Center terror attacks at the time. His wonderful considered words still resonate today and definitely to me. A truly great actor and an even better human being.
Redford is one of the very few people who deserve to be honored with this award and the articulate words of Barbra's wonderful tribute.
Looking at those faces in the auditorium it is evident that women want to be close to him and men want to be him. I admire him for so many things, especially for his integrity and his very deep humanity. Bravissimo, il mio eroe e l'ispirazione creativa.

Robert Redford was one of the most handsome men alive and so super talented with so many facets. I find interesting as well about this clip is the audience. Look at these actors who were so beautiful back then. Not that they're not attractive today but they were utterly flawless back then -- Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Connelly, Ben Kingsley, Nicole Kidman, Renee Zellweger, Kate Winslet, etc etc..

If I were in charge of the Oscars, the first thing I would do is to bring back the presentation of the Honorary Awards during the ceremony like it used to be.
That's why the Oscars today isn't taken too seriously anymore. Bob Hope did it best. People were serious then. It was all career, glamor and humor last. Legends are dropping like flies. They are ignored over people (recent winners) getting recognition for being a button pusher, for reasons of sex or scandal, never something honorable or deserving like their acting and passion. Robert will always be someone I hold in high regard because he just cares about the craft, not the golden image.

Turner is virtualy the only cable movie network that shows classic films in the wide sreen/letterbox format without commercial interruption. They also have great original programming, i.e. archival interviews with iconic actors and directors, documentaries, etc.

It was an inspired idea for Bob Redford to play the HYDRA villainous character in the latest Captain America installment. He's still going strong at 78; he received deserved recognition for a great performance in "All Is Lost" and he is filming new projects. Redford's career was made by Paul Newman and the director of Butch Cassidy, George Roy Hill, insisting on Redford to play The Sundance Kid in the 1969 film. The studio, Fox, wanted virtually anyone else-Steve McQueen was initially cast; then Warren Beatty and Brando were considered. Ultimately, Redford was the perfect choice and following it up with Downhill Racer and Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here cemented his resurgence.
