Three Engines and a Cattle Drive! Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad

This is the only Video that you will see all of Three Engines (463, 497, 487) loading Passengers, pull a twenty five car train with two Cabooses up to Cumbres Pass, with Smoke, Steam, Whistles, Bells, Echos, Cows, Cowboys, road crossings, complex trestle crossing with the two lead engines breaking off and each engine crossing alone, then one engine pulling train over so only one engine was ever on the trestle at a time. There is Snow, Sunshine, a Cattle Drive, Wheel Spin while pulling 4 % grade. Dropping two of the engines at Cumbres Pass, the train continues on to Antonito Colorado, Switching, Engines turn around, see the Snow Shed, watering the tender, shoveling coal into fire box.

I think I was on that train. I was about 15 years old. This was the pinnacle of the C&TS in my opinion. I miss the good ole days.

Was there a large group from England on this trip? It was in September 1995 and I was told it had a very large group from England that wanted to stay together is why they made up such a long train with 3 engines instead a shorter train with 2 engines.

Hey, C&TS is working on 497, and they have 463 and a K-36... Just saying it wouldn't hurt to do this again lol
