This is the first of why they left big stories from the series. Half Sack was written out because the actor had mental issues and they were starting to get scared of him. He was supposed to last a lot longer on the show and Cherry was supposed to come back for his storyline. After the show he wound up brutally murdering his old lady landlord and her cat. When the cops showed up he climbed up on the roof naked, fell off and died. They found no drugs or alcohol in his system. The actor's name was Johnny Lewis. It happened in California and made all the papers. You can look up the entire story.
My favorite season to season transition still has to be 3-4 though. The town changed so much with Eli coming in, it truly felt like a year had passed which is of course what they intended with that transition. Super cool.
David Labrava (Happy) is a former member of Hells Angels. Other former Hells Angels members are Rusty Coones (Quinn), Chuck Zito (Frankie Diamonds), and Ralph Sonny Barger (Lenny "The Pimp"), who was one of the founding members of the Hells Angels.
But also I've seen him in interviews and stuff he's Scary but he has a good heart he's perfect as Happy an I think my favorite character in the show other then Chibbs! ❤ ❤

Honestly man. Lol I picked this show up in the beginning of the week, and had all 7 seasons finished by the end of the week. Never binge watched something that fast before, but did cause it was soooooo good, just got hooked immediately. ❤
Half Sack wasn’t supposed to die so early but the actor wanted to leave the show and they gave him a heroic ending. Sadly the actor died IRL afterward. I never understood why they didn’t take 5 secs and shoot zobelle..he was alone, with no where to go…walk in, kill him, go help Jax 🤷♀️
Yeah Zobelle escaping was something of a loophole, but I think the idea was meant to portray the strength of their brotherhood, i.e. when a member is in need, everyone drops whatever they're doing to help him. Even if that means letting their enemy get away. At least that's how I've come to see it after multiple viewings.
I cried so hard when Half-Sack died and Abel was taken when I first watched this. My heart was POUNDING once it reached Tara calling Jax to try and tell him about Gemma. Biggest twist finale so far, and it was only season 2!
@Triple-Four Highly doubt that it would've gotten canceled (he wasn't the main character nor did his future actions have anything to do with SOA), but it definitely would've thrown things into disarray had Half-Sack lived on, for sure. Still the best prospect of the show, though 🏍
That last 5 minutes in particular is one of Charlie Hunnam's best scenes in the entire show, dude is criminally underrated (no pun intended), he deserves triple A huge Hollywood movies alongside like Brad Pitt, Leo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise and other star power like that, he's that good

This is one of those episodes that I am so glad I wasn't watching as it aired so I didn't have to wait. That end gives me chills every time. Johnny Lewis (Half Sack) actually wanted to leave the show and be killed off, and the writers didn't want him to be. His life story is actually terribly sad and heartbreaking how his life took a bad turn.
30:14 "Sheriff, help! The SOA are after me!" "Yeahhh we'll get someone out there ASAP" 🤣 This and the S3 finale are two of my favorite hours of TV EVER. And like someone else said downthread, this was BEFORE streaming. Back then, we had to wait almost a YEAR after the finale for a new season 😭
The writing was phenomenal, but it’s the actor that brings the character to life , the writing takes a story so far , you need someone to be able to deliver

It's Stahl's fault Abel was kidnapped. She set this whole thing in motion since last season. She's the pebble in SOA's shoe, killing an FBI informant and blaming Gemma for her fuck up, and now Gemma's on the lam. Stahl has a lot of blood on her hands, and she needs to pay. She's such a c**!😩😣
Actor Johnny Lewis, AKA "Half sack" had to get written out of the show due to many run ins with law enforcement IRL. Eventually after he was written out, he had some unfortunate set of events, (you can google it) and he ended up passing away not much longer after. Very unfortunate.

So this was the first episode of Sons I ever seen. I was high as hell at a friends house on a weekend after my big 12 university’s football game and she was like sorry I have to watch my show it’s the finale. I asked how I could watch season 1 and she let me borrow the DVD box set. And I have been addicted ever since!
Dude never in my life I got pissed in a cliff hanger like this ending. I had to wait so many months to the season 3 premier. I can't wait for your reaction to the third season.
R.I.P. Edward Kip "Half Sack" Epps aka Prospect. ( his final episode aired on Dec 1, 2009 ) You will be missed. R.I.P Jonathan Kendrick Lewis. ( he passed away on September 26, 2012 ) On October 30, 2011, Lewis suffered head injuries from a high-speed motorcycle accident. Though an MRI was recommended, and Lewis' father scheduled MRI tests twice, Lewis refused to take them. His father later stated that he "pursued and encouraged psychiatric treatment for his son. It was Johnny who refused to comply." Lewis started manifesting bizarre and illogical behavior from that point on and concurrent to his ensuing legal troubles. Bill Jensen reported in that Lewis' family and attorneys pushed for rehab for marijuana addiction to avoid trial. When counselors observing Lewis rejected this, they pursued rehab for alcoholism instead. In early August 2012, Lewis was well enough to be granted provisional out-patient status after agreeing to be detained for "time served". He was assured that he would likely just spend a couple more days in jail; however, this turned into nearly two more months of detention, during which he suffered a severe downturn in health and spirits. Lewis was released from jail on September 21, 2012. On September 26, 2012, Lewis and his 81-year-old landlady, Catherine Davis, were found dead at Davis' home in Los Angeles. Davis was known in Hollywood circles for operating the Writers' Villa, a bed-and-breakfast for up-and-coming performers, directors and writers in her home. Lewis, who had previously lived there in 2009, had recently moved back in. Police were called by neighbors after Lewis violently attacked two people at the property next door, and Davis was heard screaming. Officers from the LAPD found Lewis' body on the home's driveway. Davis was found dead inside the house with severe head injuries; her pet cat was also found dead in a bathroom. Neighbors reported that Lewis had jumped over a fence to the next-door property, assaulted a house painter and the homeowner (to whom Lewis had earlier introduced himself as "John, your new neighbor") and then jumped back over the fence onto Davis' property. This is the episode that hooked me to this series.. by the time i started watching they had 3 full season on stream. I watched the first 2 season in 2/3 weeks, the 3rd season i watched it in a day
Johnny Lewis who played half sack was such a tragic figure. His death and his actions before it was so terrible. Mental health is still treated as a stigma. Such a devastating story.
To all who are just now discovering SOA or any series that has had its original run. You can binge watch them all in a couple weeks. The fans who watched it when it originally aired, we had to wait 9 months from the season finale to the season premiere for 6 years after the first season😳 That was pure torture.
David Labrava. Was originally hired by the show as a "technical consultant" and ended up playing one of the most iconic characters in the series...not to mention a fan favourite.
fun fact: David Labrava aka Happy, is a legit biker. former Hell's Angel and was originally hired as a technical advisor. while no longer considered a 'member' of the Angels he is an 'associate' who is in good standing with the MC.

One of my all time favorite finales of the show easily top 3. Lots to unpack first Zobelle being an FBI informant makes him all but bulletproof to the local cops to the ATF and even Samcro. Weston is one of the most vilest villains on the show and to see Jax was the one to kill him and avenge Gemma was poetic. Without Weston and his boys Zobelle has to rely on Alvarez and the Mayans which is bad since they have a grudge with the Sons but as expected the Mayans got played by Samcro. No shock Stahl’s plans back fired due to her incompetence and framing Gemma for the murder of Cameron’s son covers her mistake and puts Gemma on the run even if Gemma finally got revenge for Polly but Cameron took Abel as a consequence of Stahl’s lie. As infuriating as it was to see Zobelle get away even Hale refused to help him the most morally conscious character on the show was willing to let the Sons kill him because he was such a poison to Charming but as much as they wanted to kill Zobelle trying to save Abel was more important. Unfortunately they were too late and so season 3 is set. Half-Sack’s death was both tragic and dark IRL the actor wanted to be written out of the show since it was too much for him and his life after took a dark turn afterwards.
I know it sucked Clay and SAMCRO didn't get their revenge on Zobell, but don't think he got away 'Scott Free." He lost everything. His daughter was killed and now thinks to SAMCRO having it spread to the Aryans that he is a FBI informant he lost that connection and most likely they will kill him
I’ve been waiting for you to get to this episode! One of the most memorable episodes in my opinion, especially because of the ending. Action-packed, really really good story building, and heartbreaking with the death of Half-Sack, and the kidnapping. I’ve watched the whole show through and through a couple of times, but I still get emotionally attached, and I still get excited to see what happens in season 3 after this ending, even though I obviously already know! That’s a clear indicator of a show being good 🤘 Let me just says this… If you’re on the edge of your seats with a feeling of “Let’s just get on with it NOW”, I get it and with good reason 😊 On another note, you’re absolutely still one of my absolute favorite on UA-cam. I really enjoy following your channel. Big props here from Denmark 🇩🇰
I completely forgot that the kidnapping ended this season. I thought it happened in Season 2. Cannot wait for your reaction to the remixed version of opening credit song in season 3.
I think the idea surrounding Weston going to the tattoo shop was knowing, due to the sheer numbers the SoA have not only in the US, but Ireland as well, that he'd not get far on the run. He'd EVENTUALLY get caught. So he made sure his son saw what he needed him to see, then surrendered his life when it was time. Like you said, he absolutely knew it was coming, and just surrendered himself to the idea.
I remember Nikki saying in one episode that it was saying guest staring ryan hurst and then hes in the actual credits, thats because he was only supposed to be in a few episodes and then killed off
ive watched this episode so many times and never noticed the chance that Tara had at taking the gun from Cameron. She really could have taken that thing.

Say what you want about the character Weston , but Henry Rollins !!!! WOW !!! What a great performance, he made Weston such a despicable character
BUT also made you feel bad when killed because of his kid being in the same building.
It could be argued that the writing made him despicable. He complemented the writing well enough.

Police were called by neighbors after Lewis violently attacked two people at the property next door, and Davis was heard screaming. Officers from the LAPD found Lewis' body on the home's driveway.
Davis was found dead inside the house with severe head injuries; her pet cat was also found dead in a bathroom.
Neighbors reported that Lewis had jumped over a fence to the next-door property, assaulted a house painter and the homeowner (to whom Lewis had earlier introduced himself as "John, your new neighbor") and then jumped back over the fence onto Davis' property.
According to the LAPD, Lewis then either fell or jumped from the roof, garage or patio of Davis' house.
His death was investigated as a homicide, and it was later determined that he had killed Davis by manual strangulation and blunt force trauma to her head.
An autopsy report released on November 29, 2012, stated that Lewis did not have any drugs or alcohol in his system when he died. He had a history of drug abuse, leading to speculation by his attorney that the actor may have suffered a drug-induced psychosis when he allegedly killed Davis.
Toxicology reports came back negative for alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, psychedelic drugs or anti-psychotic medication. The autopsy indicated he had suffered partial strangulation and had fingernail marks on his neck when he died.
There was no indication that Lewis had been pushed or that he jumped from the roof in an act of suicide. His death was ruled accidental.
Lewis' family has spoken out about his history of untreated head trauma, leading some to speculate that he developed a psychological disorder, which led to his sudden spurts of violence.
Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter tweeted about his death: "It was a tragic end for an extremely talented guy, who unfortunately had lost his way. I wish I could say that I was shocked by the events last night, but I was not. I am deeply sorry that an innocent life had to be thrown into his destructive path. Yes, it's a day of mourning, but it's also a day of awareness and gratitude. Sadly, some of us carry the message by dying."

This is the episode that hooked me to this series.. by the time i started watching they had 3 full season on stream. I watched the first 2 season in 2/3 weeks, the 3rd season i watched it in a day
The series has aged so well. I watch it every year, Jax is my favorite character of all time.
Season 2 is in my opinion the best season of the show. It was great front to back. That ending was just an amazing way to bring everything together.
Johnny Lewis who played half sack was such a tragic figure. His death and his actions before it was so terrible. Mental health is still treated as a stigma. Such a devastating story.
Westin handled that death like a man. I really like how he spoke to his son knowing he was about to die and it was his last words to his kid

David Labrava. Was originally hired by the show as a "technical consultant" and ended up playing one of the most iconic characters in the series...not to mention a fan favourite.

fun fact: David Labrava aka Happy, is a legit biker. former Hell's Angel and was originally hired as a technical advisor. while no longer considered a 'member' of the Angels he is an 'associate' who is in good standing with the MC.

The finale was great but for me it's the opposite. I wasn't a fan of the whole Ireland story line

Zoebel lived on so he could direct several later SOA epidodes.

One of my all time favorite finales of the show easily top 3. Lots to unpack first Zobelle being an FBI informant makes him all but bulletproof to the local cops to the ATF and even Samcro. Weston is one of the most vilest villains on the show and to see Jax was the one to kill him and avenge Gemma was poetic. Without Weston and his boys Zobelle has to rely on Alvarez and the Mayans which is bad since they have a grudge with the Sons but as expected the Mayans got played by Samcro. No shock Stahl’s plans back fired due to her incompetence and framing Gemma for the murder of Cameron’s son covers her mistake and puts Gemma on the run even if Gemma finally got revenge for Polly but Cameron took Abel as a consequence of Stahl’s lie. As infuriating as it was to see Zobelle get away even Hale refused to help him the most morally conscious character on the show was willing to let the Sons kill him because he was such a poison to Charming but as much as they wanted to kill Zobelle trying to save Abel was more important. Unfortunately they were too late and so season 3 is set. Half-Sack’s death was both tragic and dark IRL the actor wanted to be written out of the show since it was too much for him and his life after took a dark turn afterwards.

I’ve been waiting for you to get to this episode! One of the most memorable episodes in my opinion, especially because of the ending. Action-packed, really really good story building, and heartbreaking with the death of Half-Sack, and the kidnapping. I’ve watched the whole show through and through a couple of times, but I still get emotionally attached, and I still get excited to see what happens in season 3 after this ending, even though I obviously already know! That’s a clear indicator of a show being good 🤘
Let me just says this… If you’re on the edge of your seats with a feeling of “Let’s just get on with it NOW”, I get it and with good reason 😊

I think the idea surrounding Weston going to the tattoo shop was knowing, due to the sheer numbers the SoA have not only in the US, but Ireland as well, that he'd not get far on the run. He'd EVENTUALLY get caught. So he made sure his son saw what he needed him to see, then surrendered his life when it was time. Like you said, he absolutely knew it was coming, and just surrendered himself to the idea.
