I'm just starting out in ventriloquism I was just wondering is there a trick to finding a voice for my puppet without it still sounding like me but as you've been doing it for so long and you're extremely good at what you do I just thought I would ask your opinion if you don't mind

Hi Barry H, It really depends on who the character is. Is it human? If it's an animal ? sometimes I get inspired by cartoon character voices. Does help if you know who the character is? What's his background story? Once you know more about them it's easier to try and fit a voice that suits. My character Sam has a falsetto voice as he's a young teenager. Try singing a bit see what notes you can get and then try venting them. Pz
