Hi Jemima! I think it is two reasons - out of all the weight loss fads that have come and gone, Ozempic is the one with the most success. People have never experienced weight loss like this.
And it is partially our fault. Once we found Shein, Cider, Fashion Nova etc we have been ordering up a storm. During the Panamanian we were all at home ordering Shein and this was a huge loss of money for plus size brands.
I agree with you about plus size marketing. They should have it down pat by now! It's like we're going backwards in fashion.

You‘ve still got it real good in the States. Also, your sizes seem to me to be true to size. In Germany I need for 4XL an have to cross my fingers that it will fit. Been to the US in November last year and I was shocked that L or XL fit me.
Big time bummer, though, shoe sizes for women don’t go beyond a 10! Or was that just a coincidence?

Ozempic has played a MASSIVE role in the change in plus fashion and everything. People are losing weight so quickly and so many former fat people and turning their backs on the community but that is a whole other conversation. As a plus actress/model I have said no to every weight loss job and trust me there are A LOT of them
I think it’s so sad that plus size fashion isn’t progressing like it should. No matter anyone’s size we all need clothing and everyone deserves to wear what they want and to be able to show their style.
The thing with Ozempic is that, weight loss has never been this accessible before, and it's going to get even more so with Medicaid allowing GPL-1s for obesity. Also the newest body trend is definitely moving towards slim figures, I mean it has always been the standard and always will be but now it's something that more and more people can achieve. Also the gym culture and pretty privileged commentary, are definitely pushing ideals in one sort of way, not the super skinny but the athletic and slim thick build are coming back. Also all the current it girlies have pretty much the same build, slim with curves or slim thick and on average petite. I feel like this new era will be starting some new conversations.
The correlation, you actually hit on the head. Fashion has never truly been exclusive, high fashion loves skinny, and there's a lot of reasons for that. A lot of brands that aren't made specifically for plus size people only caved because of the trends and pressure, heck a lot of them didn't even cave so that should tell you something. As soon as these brands see they can go back to what they've been doing they will, it doesn't matter about the money, it's the "look" for them. The people they want to wear their clothes will buy and because the "look" is always in trend they will continue to sell.
Then of course some of us use Ozempic because we have diabetes. It is wonderful because it helps the disease as well as assisting in the weight loss as well!

Stores have been slowly removing plus size from in -store as well. It went from being in store just like 2 years ago and now it's oh back to you can order online. That's great if I don't need anything in less than 5-7 days

At first I thought oh things sold out..but then everything can't sell out right away. And I've seen others online complain about this as well. When you check the website it's in full stock.

Depends on the reason. Some people are on it for health reasons. It's not just for weight loss. It's real job is to regulate blood sugars. Weight loss is a side effect

It was a fad, and they did not want to be seen as uncooperative, so they rode the wave. I take Ozempic because I have type 2 diabetes and bible I haven't lost not one pound so them saying it's not hiring plus size models cause of Ozempic craze that's bull....!! 1. I know you mentioned wanting to get back into achieving your vision board goals. Creating a manifest journey definitely did that for me. Not only are my goals right in my face, but journaling them is a constant reminder that I need to focus on them. It also is a way for me to be specific in my prayers to God. I have a manifest & a gratitude journal. The gratitude journal was a suggestion of my therapist because she says I’m so goal oriented and driven for success that I don’t stop and show gratitude for where I am in this moment, and I’m missing out on some wonderful experiences. You will find so much peace in journaling.
2. You are not wrong for not connecting the latest weight loss fad to the decline in plussize opportunities. You also hit the nail on the hammer with the real reason. As someone who is in corporate America, a plussize baddie😜, and a chocolate girl who loves makeup, I can tell you this is an experience happening across so many genres, and it’s only gonna get worse. Not only are companies no longer getting huge tax breaks for being inclusive and DE&I oriented/focused, with so many companies focusing on inclusion all at once, companies are not getting the recognition and boost in sales for being inclusive they once saw. Also based on this upcoming election, we have a potential candidate who is so bent on banishing inclusive culture that he is going to start fining companies who focus on it. A lot of companies whether it was related to size, skin tone etc never cared about being diverse. It just looks good on their tax cut resume.
