Well we almost flipped the mill...

I guess that's reason enough to go through and re-level it all. Long story short, we've had a heck of a time trying to level this mill. Personally I just don't think the semi-permanent sub structure with these locking pin style jacks is very good. It just doesn't give the flexibility that you need to truly level the mill on moderately unlevel ground.
Anyway, we went through and cut these big oak rounds and buried them down in the gravel. This way they can't shift side to side. Theoretically they could frost heave, but our ground doesn't ever freeze below the surface anyway. The biggest struggle is just having to have it on a bunch of random little shims. Let's hope this leveling effort lasts long enough to make it worth all the downtime.
