The authentic is meant to be worn just as much as the swingman is. LMAO They introduced that line for people who didn't want to pay the premium for an authentic, but could have a similar look. They also made them for those who didn't want to necessarily buy the replica with screen printing.
Yeah but don't the swingman jerseys last a much shorter time? Genuine question, I'm trying to pick between the two. Thanks dudes and thanks Cap Swap for the vid
agreed. and some people want that piece that they hang there hat on and others want to buy a collection to rock. swingman makes that an affordable option.
@@MrET114 market out there for everyone some people wont ever do that they want it brand new with tags and genuine. I think we are assuming that its alternative when really there is a customer for various options. Thanks for watching!
The biggest difference for me is the actual shape of the jerseys. The swingman has larger shoulders, the authentic had thinner shoulders and a more hour glass shape to the body of the jersey
I collect Retro J's and just started rocking Authentic M&N Jordan jerseys to rock with goodies, slim fit jeans and my J's. I'm addicted to them!!!!! I have to have the Authentic because I feel like if I'm going to do it, I'm doing it right. I already have 8 or 9 Authentics. One Swingman Bulls Rodman and I can DEFINITELY tell the difference. I feel it and I see it. The weight is the biggest thing.
I can’t believe he said he struggle to see the difference.. lol I can spot a swing man any where an I can spot a authentic jersey, just like fake Jordan’s.
Big difference is the fact that one is 97-98 and the rep is 00-01 jersey were alot different for those years anyway. He should of compared the authentic 00-01 jersey
I dropped $299 on an Adidas Rev 30 Authentic from the NBA Store Sacramento Kings Cousins and $205 on a Rev 30 Authentic Paul Pierce Celtics. They gotten alot more expensive over the years.
Correct MN sizing info!!! I recently received my MN 96-97 Kobe Authentic player Jersey 8 in Size M (40) and it fits perfect. Not tight or baggy, it just looks like it fits well. I am 6 feet, 160 lbs, waist 30-31 and broad shoulders. I plan to wear only t-shirts underneath but if I was to wear a hoodie it might be to tight. In that case I would go with a L. I also tried on a random MN Swingman Jersey in size M and L. For these in particular I wear a size L. The M fit but it was a little to tight in the chest and midsection, and it just looked to short. In summary, the MN Authentic player jerseys are slightly bigger overall (in length and width) than the MN Swingman jerseys. A lot of people say they fit the same but they do not! Knowing this will help especially if you are borderline between sizes. Also, be careful when people say authentic MN jerseys because that doesn’t always mean that they are referring to the “Authentic player jersey” line. Often times they are referring to the Swingman jerseys which are also authentic but different than the Authentic player jerseys. The tag on the front bottom left will let you know which one they are actually referring too. I hope this helps!
Hey so I usually wear a large and I fit a M&N swingman in large too but now do you think I should get a M size authentic player jersey? Im 5'8 & 175 lbs broad shoulders. Should I go for medium???
I’m pretty short g, I’m 5’1 and 125lb what would you recommend to buy and which type of jerseys would be a little loose but not too loose. Would really help if you could respond
J Jax I just bought a 97-98 Mitchell and Ness Jordan jersey in a XL. I’m 5’7 and about 190 pounds. I’ve read that they run slim. I hope I bought right. Won’t get it till August and if I had to exchange it I would be out of luck. I think the Jordan jerseys were only released due to “The Last Dance”
The 2000-01 looks like that for a reason, because they took the boarder from around Sixers logo that the 1997-98 jersey. It’s just like today when company’s make New Jersey’s for team. That’s why the dates are different.
Not so small detail at all. But i have not heard of anyone else having this issue ill keep an eye out for other people with same problem, thanks for your comment.
Dude, you’re in the apparel industry, and if you “can’t even tell the two apart,” then you need to get your eyes checked or find a new industry. Give me the authentic all day.
The Swingman is based on the style after the Authentic your comparing it too. If you notice the wordmark-logos "SIXERS" are not the same. The Authentic has a patch like logo. This style came after the "shooting stars" version. After the "patch", they went to the logo(which is bigger) on the Swingman. The most Authentic jerseys, historically, are sewn/have embroidered wordmark-logos and numbers-letters for names on the back. Others were silk screen. By the late 90's early 2000's, sublimation.
Wait so Mitchell and Ness has never made any on court jerseys but they’re the most expensive ????? Why ???? Someone please tell me before I give up on all sports apparel
The first minute is establishing he has 2 jerseys, 1 that's 300 and 1 that's 130 and of the 2 one is more expensive than the other, although they almost look the same one is 300 and the other 130 but you should definitely understand that there is a difference between the one thats 300 and the one thats 130 but don't let that take away the fact that they are 2 different jerseys.
The authentics are way better than the crappy swingmans....If you want a jersey to be proud of for the rest of your life I would definately save up the extra 170 dollars to get an authentic.
Dude they are different jerseys from different years. The 01 jerseys were made out of that shiny material not mess hence it is swingman. The authentic jersey you have is complete different as it was 4years earlier. You can't compare these two without that knowledge
It's all good man. You can definitely see how the quality is different between the 01 authentic and swingman. I like your content and would enjoy seeing more comparison videos, I've been trying to build my authentic collection and I'm trying to decide what to get next so a close look would be good. Thanks.
I can tell you one thing for sure that makes the Authentic worth getting over the swingman. I bought a Mutumbo Nuggets swingman, and the details on the lettering, the color outline I think the numbers on the back are white, detailed/outlined in blue, the blue is just painted on, I wore it to the gym with it one day, the next day I noticed some of the blue paint had chipped off. I was livid.
what I was wondering was when you see Magic footage his jersey looks a certain way. When you see a photo of an authentic M&N jersey it looks different in style, more like the baggier style of jersey that you see today. Its almost like the shape isn't the same. Does authentic mean they actually model if off the actual worn jerseys?
authentic means they model it off the jersey that was worn at the time. They try and replicate the look and feel of the exact jersey. thanks for the comment !
So if I'm buying a jersey strictly to get it autographed, which would you recommend... would you say paying the additional $170 would be worth it in that case?
The swingman jerseys used vinyl numbers and stitching. The authentic Stitching is different. With swing man jerseys after a few washed the numbers get wrinkled and scratched. Authentic numbers do not.
The swingman is sublimation. Basically the design is stamped on a twill patch then sewn to the jersey. The authentic uses multi layer tackle twill to build the design
Correct me if I'm mistaken because It's been literal years since I bought a jersey (1990's). But as I look at this isn't the authentic team logo/name/number embroidered and sewn on while the swingman has printed team logo/name/numbers? If that's the case then this guy really needs to find another line of work if that huge difference isn't noticeable. However, if they're both sewn on logos/names/numbers then I can see how it will be difficult to distinguish the two.
Is their a diff of buying a M&N swingman from the nba store vs from the actual M&N site ??? I got a swingman from the site and the logo and letters was sewn on the edges & I bought one off nba store and the letters & logo were fuckin iron pressed on it looks like . What’s going on here ???
The $300 one has the same quality that players wore on the court and iverson also wore it during late 90s,the swingman is not embroidered and m&n wanted it to matvh with swingmans of other brands so they made the same quality
What about the numbers and letters, I know on the authentic jersey the numbers and letters are stitched on. Is the swingman stitched or heat pressed on?
One thing I've noticed about M&N jerseys is that they look like women's dresses (coca cola cut). Other brands (Nike , reebok , Adidas, champion) are straight. But all of these are really nice
@@CapSwagUsa sure, but for some Authentic jerseys, they use an entirely different fabric than the swingman (which seems to be the same for every jersey in that collection line). Curryy and D. Rose's rookie authentic jerseys both have a dazzle fabric without the mesh fabric as opposed to the swingman jersey (which has the standard mesh fabric)
I just got the Miami Heat Shaquille O'Neal Mitchell & Ness Black 2005-06 Hardwood Classics Swingman Jersey had to see why they called Swingman I was about to cancel my order
Mitchell and Ness runs true to size! I recently ordered a Swingman and sized up because I thought they would run smaller but they don’t! I had to return it for a smaller size.
Let me break it down because I’ll give a true analysis and won’t ramble. Authentic Jersey: All Embroidered, Better Material, wont fade easily, usually runs true to size, colors are more defined, the sleeveless cut outs are more curved out Swing man: Hear Printed lettering, not as good material (mesh), will fade more easily, colors are darker and not more vibrant like Authentic, run smaller so size up, sleeve cut outs are more straight then bowed
The newer M&N swingman aren't stitched any more. It's painted applique that is glued on. But the ones before that where stitched, but only one layer, which means it's still painted applique that will fade easily if you wash to often. Authentic is all stitched, except for the ones from periods where they heat printed.
@@thejohn6040 sorry man, i am going to disagree here they actually are stitched. Of course, there is a quality difference but I don't see the price difference warrant the double price difference.
@@CapSwagUsa really, I promise you that the swingman produced in 2019 and after, for sure are not stitched, and instead glued. Looks the same as the earlier ones on the outside, but on the inside there is no stitching to be found. And they are all bought legit, either from the M&N store, M&N online store, lids, lids.com, fanatics.com, macys etc... There are also a few other youtubers that are already covering this subject.

Simply the straps are thinner in authentic. This is the easiest way to spot swingman or authentic from long range. If you can’t see much difference... well, I don’t know what else to say :) still thank you for video
The reason the straps are different because the straps are bigger on the 00-01 jersey regardless of authentic or rep. He was comparing two completely different jerseys lol
quality is different for sure my take is value vs price. your not wrong but this is a video about what makes sense at what price point. appreciate the comment my guy.

Actually not true, that may have changed from the time that i did this review but swing man was stitched down as well. Both name and number were stitched down.
Harry CM most of those differences are actually due to the jerseys being representing two different seasons. There are M&N authentics of the wider shoulder style with the different logo
The authentic is based off the 97-98 season: •red outline surrounding Sixers logo •narrow space between the neck and arm holes While the Swingman represents AI's 00-01 MVP season: •no red outline surrounding the Sixers logo •wider spacing between the neck and arm holes An authentic version of the 2001 jersey would also use dazzle material rather than mesh.
I like the narrow shoulder of the original, but i wear a 2xl in nike, reebok, champion, regular Adidas.. but Mitchell and ness not even close to fitting the swingman fit sucks.
M&N swingmans are juste like adidas swingmans, poor quality for the price, nothing sewed. I have both models The mesh in authentic are way thicker, and almost important thing the embroidery !!!
Shakman Densetsu exactly. Aren’t the swingmans heat pressed? In terms of the actual quality of the materials I don’t think they’re bad. The jersey material is good and the light tackle twill are good. It’s just the heat pressed crap. Numbers, letters, logos will all start to peel off eventually. I don’t think you can fix that Either. Not sure why they went to that over sewed swingmans they had a few years back.
Shakman, there is deff a difference in quality but the price is half its not meant to be an authentic is meant to be a alternate to the original costly authentic.
scramblingscholartv phantom is 500k a chrysler 300 not even a 10th the price you expect there to be major quality difference. This is a comparison of a $130 jersey and a $300 jersey, analogy is very flawed my friend. Mitchell produced an affordable jersey that outsells any “authentic” by alot, and people are arguing with that fact?
@@CapSwagUsa well show a detailed comparison for the consumer to make an educated decision on which one they would prefer. The stitching on one is multilayer, thicker mesh and cut a bit different. You spent more time replying about the phantom than you did the differences on the jerseys. It makes you look like you don't know the products.
What is the difference between buying a mitchell and ness authentic compared to say a nike authentic? Is it just the brand or does it have significant "authentic" meaning? Am looking at buying my 1st jersey and want to get the most authentic one i can. Thanks.
beamernz1 if your going to buy an authentic jersey the brand doesn’t really make a difference. Both those brands will be using top of the line material and quality will be very good.
those Mitchell jerseys are not based off jersey from back in the old days smh they solid no mesh jerseys witch as years went on they changed the jersey to be able to breath
The thickness in the shoulder looks more like the authentic jersey. That's how they were made in that era. The authentic doesn't look as real. Look it up.
Stop being a salesman! One is all stitched tackle twill and the other is screen print on tackle twill that will fade after 10 washes. There you go, consumers.
i buy cheap shirts from DHgate lol, it's same anyway barring a few stitch errors but you can actually work out in a 20 dollar shirt, wtf are you gonna do with a 350 dollar ripoff shirt, I'd be afraid to get mayonaise on it
Bro stop it. How can you struggle with the difference?? They're WAY different. The cuts are different, the mesh is different, there's less stitching and materials used, etc.
The biggest difference you missed was the silhouette of the jersey around the shoulder... The authentic jersey has a slimmer fit... ijs. If you’re gonna do it, you gotta do it right! Lol. Ball out on the authentic jersey...
The shoulders look so stupid on the $130 jerseys.. Why are they like that? I never liked those because they’re not what the jersey looks like.. Who decided to make the shoulders bigger?.. FYI, swingman jerseys have been around for longer than this guys says..
Authentic is basically player version. Swingman is fan version.

Where tf do I buy a swing man Kobe jersey? There either all sold out or have smaller size....😔
sold out but we will be restocking some heat!
Where do u even buy authentic jerseys
I'm 5'9 160lbs what size jersey should I get?
check out our sizing chart hope this helps!
www.capswag.com/pages/size-chart
@ PUNNANA DESTROYER5000 Your a size 44 (Large) or go up to 48 (XL) for a loose fit.
Mitchell and Ness runs true to size! I recently ordered a Swingman and sized up because I thought they would run smaller but they don’t! I had to return it for a smaller size.
You can tell right from the back that there different you can look right threw the 130$ one
Let me break it down because I’ll give a true analysis and won’t ramble.
Authentic Jersey: All Embroidered, Better Material, wont fade easily, usually runs true to size, colors are more defined, the sleeveless cut outs are more curved out
Swing man: Hear Printed lettering, not as good material (mesh), will fade more easily, colors are darker and not more vibrant like Authentic, run smaller so size up, sleeve cut outs are more straight then bowed

Swing mans ARE stitched on. Not sure if your familiar with actual product but your a bit off on this.
And the reason why I know this, is because I have quite a few, both from before the glue era and after. And they are all bought legit, either from the M&N store, M&N online store, lids, lids.com, fanatics.com, macys etc...
There are also a few other youtubers that are already covering this subject.
Yo cap! I bought a Timberwolves sleeved jerseys of an official website but it's through eBay and I checked out the jersey it real I compared it to fakes and authentic and stuff and it's defo a swingman jersey but on the tag at the bottom it has the adidas logo and the NBA logo but it doesn't have a size symbol now I'm not sure if it's an older jersey or what but when I googled people wearing the jersey there's had it so I'm just wondering if you could help me out and let me know what u think I have here?
not sure too sure about that one bro, how much did you pay for it?
Cap Swag Tv where can I buy authentic NBA jersey cause when I try find them all that comes up is game worn ones which are too expensive I just want one they wear on the court
Swingman used to be stitched
last i check mitchell ones still are.
Difference is the cut on shoulder and the sixers logo.hwc is bigger
Simply the straps are thinner in authentic. This is the easiest way to spot swingman or authentic from long range. If you can’t see much difference... well, I don’t know what else to say :) still thank you for video
The reason the straps are different because the straps are bigger on the 00-01 jersey regardless of authentic or rep. He was comparing two completely different jerseys lol
Wish you would of xoomed in with the camera so we could see more details. But good video, very informative.
Where is your shop
Nah bruh. The quality on the swingmans is substantially lower than the authentics. I completely disagree with your take.
quality is different for sure my take is value vs price. your not wrong but this is a video about what makes sense at what price point. appreciate the comment my guy.
Where is your store located? I live in the Philly area.
We have stores in Ocean City, NJ and Wildwood, NJ on the boardwalk. But we also have a Berlin, NJ location at the Berlin Mart. You can also shop our online store: www.capswag.com
located at the jersey shore in ocean city nj and wildwood nj but you can order online atwww.capswag.com/collections/nba-vintage-throwback-legend-swingman-basketball-jerseys
Is there a way to obtain a ‘champion’ brand one?
Hi Joel, sorry but we don’t carry them

@@CapSwagUsa tYPe a MeSsAGe lmao
Quality of Swingman worth every penny.
nahh swingmans suck
Can you please lower the volume or turn the music off.
no.
Cap Swag TV lol someone is talking and the music is too loud. Yeah right. No worries.
@@veronicaisl its good to see you have a sense of humour this is a fleeting attribute these days. Ima think of you on the next video and keep the music to a level that is acceptable that's a promise!
Cap Swag TV thank you. You’re the subject of the video and all of our attention is on you then it’s kinda rude if someone is talking and someone is playing the music too loud. Nice review btw. I got few M&N jersey. I like swingman but i got 2 MJ’s authentic. Cheers
This is like saying an AMG and an c class are the same thing basically. Authentic all the way
I have both the swing man and the authentic jerseys. Both are great
Which One would you recommend me getting
@@yetyetpinappleskeet7251 definitely authentic
Did mitchel and ness make the jerseys for the nba at one point in time? How can they be actually authentic if they were not the nbas fabricator
Have got 2 and i prefer the swingman for street wear..
One will definitely get you roasted if you’re around certain circles.
so the cheaper one isnt stitched ?
Carlos Aguilar it's stitched, but not multi-layered stitched on the logo and number outlines.
in the end some like polo ralph lauren and some like polo association ..choose wisely.
Yes, that's true. But these are made for everyone who likes to wear this, right? ;)
You can wear your Authentic Jerseys on but you'll still never fill em..
- Michael Jerk Jordan
Wow you must be from merica!
Swingman jerseys are cut short! So buy one size bigger
One is stitched all the way the other is heat pressed. Big difference on the way the are made.
Actually not true, that may have changed from the time that i did this review but swing man was stitched down as well. Both name and number were stitched down.
The swing man is much wider, it isn’t stitched and the sixers logo is much larger and doesn’t have a red outline
Harry CM most of those differences are actually due to the jerseys being representing two different seasons. There are M&N authentics of the wider shoulder style with the different logo
The authentic is based off the 97-98 season:
•red outline surrounding Sixers logo
•narrow space between the neck and arm holes
While the Swingman represents AI's 00-01 MVP season:
•no red outline surrounding the Sixers logo •wider spacing between the neck and arm holes
An authentic version of the 2001 jersey would also use dazzle material rather than mesh.
I like the narrow shoulder of the original, but i wear a 2xl in nike, reebok, champion, regular Adidas.. but Mitchell and ness not even close to fitting the swingman fit sucks.
i loved your video man
appreciate that bro!
You can see the differents in the shoulder
Shakman,
there is deff a difference in quality but the price is half its not meant to be an authentic is meant to be a alternate to the original costly authentic.
not heat pressed not sure why people keep saying this?
It's like a Chrysler 300 and a phantom. They both have 4 tires. They look about the same. Can't even tell the difference tbh. *sarcasm*
scramblingscholartv phantom is 500k a chrysler 300 not even a 10th the price you expect there to be major quality difference.
Where is your store ? I'm eye balling that Larry Bird jersey.
The store shown in this video is on the Ocean City Boardwalk in Ocean City NJ. Check the website for more details!

Cap Swag TV aw man I was literally just in Jersey I'll have to check you out when I go back.
They are in philly...
On 12th Street
What is the difference between buying a mitchell and ness authentic compared to say a nike authentic? Is it just the brand or does it have significant "authentic" meaning? Am looking at buying my 1st jersey and want to get the most authentic one i can. Thanks.
beamernz1 if your going to buy an authentic jersey the brand doesn’t really make a difference. Both those brands will be using top of the line material and quality will be very good.
8kings23 ok thanks for that. Am leaning toward the nike version...
beamernz1 which jersey did you want to get? Also make sure to get it from an authorized dealer. There’s so many fakes out there.
Should length big difference, I’d rather have the slimmer shoulder
I hate the wide shoulder Jerseys so much but not as much as short sleve jerseys
those Mitchell jerseys are not based off jersey from back in the old days smh they solid no mesh jerseys witch as years went on they changed the jersey to be able to breath
He's comparing the 97-98 jersey to a 00-01 jersey. Authentic or not. The jerseys are gonna be different
The thickness in the shoulder looks more like the authentic jersey. That's how they were made in that era. The authentic doesn't look as real. Look it up.
Stop being a salesman! One is all stitched tackle twill and the other is screen print on tackle twill that will fade after 10 washes. There you go, consumers.
i buy cheap shirts from DHgate lol, it's same anyway barring a few stitch errors but you can actually work out in a 20 dollar shirt, wtf are you gonna do with a 350 dollar ripoff shirt, I'd be afraid to get mayonaise on it
LOL! That is the point!
Bro stop it. How can you struggle with the difference?? They're WAY different. The cuts are different, the mesh is different, there's less stitching and materials used, etc.
ill go for the 300$ price never regret
big boi tings for big boi moves!
The strap thicker on the swingman
Anyone knows the cost bc a guy is trying to sell me some for the cost
buying an authentic jersey is tuff these days make sure he is an authorized dealer lots of fakes on the market.
The biggest difference you missed was the silhouette of the jersey around the shoulder... The authentic jersey has a slimmer fit... ijs. If you’re gonna do it, you gotta do it right! Lol. Ball out on the authentic jersey...
Calm down chocolate
The shoulders look so stupid on the $130 jerseys.. Why are they like that? I never liked those because they’re not what the jersey looks like.. Who decided to make the shoulders bigger?.. FYI, swingman jerseys have been around for longer than this guys says..
