Seeing you go from struggle to ease and the time it took is very inspiring. It shows that it’s possible. Often in these videos they make it seem like it should come quickly and it makes you feel like you’re just not cut out for it. This one makes me feel good 😌

I practice handstand for 8 years. I am 59 years old. I can hold it for 2 minutes. I practice almost every day. At first it's even difficult to breathe. Nowadays I can sing, talk and feel floating. I watched every video, every tip that exists on youtube, and it helped. But the most important thing is simply to turn yourself upside down and your body by itself will begin to "learn" for you. Every achievement is a victory, and learning the handstand never ends, it's levels of improvement.
The three tips you gave are basic and correct. I would say that as soon as a person feels progressing, feels comfortable in the position, they should start doing handstand pushups against the wall. Use books to adjust height and graduate. This will help to strengthen the shoulders a lot, balance.
Handstand only brings me pleasure, and through it I learned many other skills, because many skills are connected, intertwined, and in this chain, handstant is basic.
It takes time to learn, but we don't even notice it, because it's addictive and fun.

This was a really cool video. And I don't mean just for handstands, or exercise. But for learning anything in general. It takes a lot of skills we don't normally use to achieve long term goals like this, especially in this day and age of instant everything. And this gets right to the heart of it, especially the part about celebrating the little wins, and enjoying them. Before just moving on. ✌️

Phenomenal video. Inspired me to finally achieve my handstand. Starting my journey today. So often I find myself failing because results don’t come quick enough. Not because I can’t do something, simply because I’m not patient enough to take the time. Just like you said about videos saying do this in five minutes do that in three days. That’s not how true skill works. It takes years of work to achieve your goals. Patience and determination. So thank you for helping me realize that.

Hey! Never seen anything from your channel before and this was the first vid I watched. It was awesome man! Thank you! I am very on and off with breakdancing, but for the last 3 years ive been on my fully committed no stopping handstand journey and about a year into the full calisthenics journey. I am doing really good so far with it all! but you are so damn right when you mentioned that you always want something better and you dont take the time to appreciate where you are. I am always trying to do the next cool combo, or spin on one hand and do it better, or combo down to a shoulder hold from my hands and back up, but I never stop and truly appreciate how far ive come. This video reminded me to do that and just be a bit more considerate and humbled with myself. Awesome vid man and shoutout from South Africa!

Great video man. I really admire the processes you went through and your perseverance. Your free standing Hstands are perfectly straight and perpendicular, amazing! Those presses must require a lot of shoulder power and stability.
I'm 62 and have never done a Hstand before. Your video has inspired me so have a go.

Just started doing handstands every day at the beginning of this year! Been training gymnastics since I went to uni 5 years ago and progressed nicely for someone with zero experience haha, but my handstands kept sucking. Made it a priority and BAM, now I can hold a free standing one for like 15 seconds. Thanks for the tip to also celebrate those victories ;) Still also doing powerlifting quite seriously so it is possible to get strong and jacked, but also stay mobile and aware of your body haha. Loved the vid

Really inspiring stuff Josh. Instant gratification has become a disease in our culture. So awesome to see you reflect on putting in the work. I connect deeply with the mentality of staying hungry for more but doing my best to stop and appreciate the small wins. It can be easy to gloss over, but those small wins are where a lot of the beauty of this life lies. It's also incredible what kind of doors injury can open if you keep the right mindset and take responsibility. Keep doing your thing!

I am at my 4th month of handstand journey, thank you for all your advice, especially to enjoy the small steps achieved. I felt a huge progress since my starting day, but there is still so much to master. Seeing where you are in your journey after 5 years gave me a new boost, new motivation to continue learning the process to get a proper handstand and to not give up

Awesome big picture video, thanks Josh! I'm 53 and could handwalk back in high school. Excited to get back to it, very empowering! I'm about 2 months in and going very slowly. Beginning to feel more natural kicking up against a wall. Will start extending my wallstands next. It's helping my posture and cheers me up to get this ability back. Want to actually learn to handstand instead of handwalking this time around too.

Josh I had comment, as a 60 year old man, I now train to stay healthy, I started doing handstands less than a month ago . Handstands are now put of my regular routine , slowly getting better and more confident. I wish I had found you a long time ago! Your casual persona so inspirational !! 😊 Alex

Txs very much!. Took me 1 yr and the half to begin to find the starting point.... 1 second against the wall. But wasn't so regular as suggested. Did it 1 or 2 times a week. But recently, I did it every day, within my comfort zone, after warm up. That encourages me. Even with 60 yo, it's fun! I'll continue the journey as you advised: regularly, and I'll push a bit more into the ground ! Thanks for your positive spirit Josh!!

I used to only focus on lifting weights and never really paid attention to athleticism and/or calisthenics.
But the older I get, the more I would love to be able to just make my body do what I want it to do

Thanks for the video. Very encouraging and you put in a lot more realism into learning handstand. I've been practicing HS for 2 years now, and I can't do more than 3 secs. But i do feel like i am learning something about the body every time i practice: where i am not squeezing hard enough, and yes, pressing the floor and pushing through the shoulders more. thanks for the inspiration.
