Hi Rachel, I have the same set. I've owned this set for exactly one year and have not experienced the discoloration on the washer door seal. My washer does shake which can be extremely annoying but overall I'm enjoying the set.
I have the same washer have not had the issues that you’re having front load washers. Do shake if there’s a large load that is normal. Other than that it is an exceptional washing machine.
I just hooked up a hose to the dryer and tried the steam setting with just a dry rag in it. I stopped it after 5 minutes because it seamed to be puddleing water instead of steam. Is this normal? Does it just squirt water in the dryer then the heat turns it to steam? I'm concerned. Love your in depth review and love this set
When filling up does the water turn on and off and on and off? I have an LG front loading washing machine and it turn the water on and off shaking, rattling, knocking my pipes like crazy. I even put water shocks on the water lines and it doesn't help. I'm hoping that this washing machine has a constant flow of water while filling up.
@@Theoneandonlyearthhuman Yes, look it up. It's like a reverse refrigerator as I understand it. Shouldn't be placed in a corner though as it requires airflow.
Thanks for the update. I just got the new (50/95 series that is replacing the 850/ 85 series. I think I have the same issue with my dryer as you had; I'm going to have to contact GE. Sounds like a subwoofer in the bathroom. It's sad that quality control isn't better; especially for the prices we have to pay for these machines now a days. Otherwise these seem like great washers and dryers.
Mine also smelled like burning rubber at the very beginning of the issue but it didn’t smell by the time I had it replaced. Hope you can get serviced quickly! Ever since that issue I haven’t had any problems. I love my machines!!! You will too! Good luck
Thought of another question: how small of loads can be gotten away with (beyond a kid's uniform)? Is the large size a problem for smaller loads? Oh and what's the shortest wash duration? Thanks!
I have the same question. We had to get a new washer and it came yesterday. I was reading the manual and saw only 3 items for quick wash. We had quick wash on our previous Samsung and used it a lot for normal loads. I do know I’ll never buy Samsung for anything but maybe a tv. The washer only lasted 3 1/2 years and the control board needed to be replaced. They don’t make that part anymore.
@@toonces7166 I thought a 20 minute wash would only be so short if you had an outfit or two in there? It can't be set for time but only as it senses how bog a load you have correct? For a medium sized load, how many minutes long would the quick wash be? Thanks so much!
Hello - thanks for the detailed vid! Has anyone here noticed the electric bill going up with the ultra fresh setting being constantly used? Thanks! @@thankgodformentalillness6221 Yes I guess I knew that after all. However that setting only works for like a pair of running shorts and a tank top - it can't handle even a small load of clothes. Still curious about the electric bill from that.
You said in your video, that you run the self clean cycle once a month…with bleach, but do you use the Ultrafresh vent system after every use? It states to do it at the conclusion of every wash day, whether that includes one wash cycle or multiple, could be why your getting that discoloration maybe
Hello! Yes I use ultrafresh vent after every use. It automatically comes on after self clean as well. The discolouration hasn’t gotten any worse since I made the video 🙌
Great review! some online reviews say this washer is surprisingly loud. Have you found that to be the case? I want to put one next to a kitchen and tv room, but worried about the noise.
Hello! My washer is in the hallway next to my living room. I don’t notice it at all, except for when it’s on the final spin cycle. The spin cycle usually lasts about 10 minutes
Now that's its been nearly a year since this post, how are you liking them still? I've been debating between the GE GFW850SPNRS vs LG WM4500HBA...I like some of the features LG has but the microban thing and the vents in the door allowing us not to have to keep the door open ALL the time is very convincing...plus I LOVE the blue color haha. Seems so fancy.
I’ve got to say that I still absolutely love both my machines! I highly recommend them. They both smell brand new. The sanitize and allergen feature is still my favourite thing about them. It is a game changer! If you love the feeling of brand new sheets, like I do, then you should try it too! My only complaint is that I’ve noticed my washer is a little louder on the final spin cycle than it was when I bought it, but it still pales in comparison to my old one. Love both machines! Hope my review helped!!
You have lots of metal in your washer this is why you have rust in the water. Beside bleach you should use 2 cascade or finish tabs for cleaning cycle. Bleach does not remove extra detergent or other things stuck in the washers. The shave is because the washer is not properly level, or you have uneven floor.did the shipping bolts were .remouves?
Mine is perfectly leveled and it shakes with most all loads. Putting a rubber horse stall mat underneath at least stopped it from shaking the house, mostly, but the machine still shakes.
Absolutely zero issues with mold since I’ve owned it. No smell of wet in the washer after it’s done the ultra fresh vent cycle whatsoever. I highly recommend that machine in that aspect. In terms of shaking, it’s very minimal. Since it’s such a heavy machine I would say it shakes minimally. I can hear it when I’m upstairs on the second floor when it’s on the last spin cycle but I would say it still much quieter than any other machine I’ve owned
Do you think bleach could have discolored the gasket? Could you run the wrinkle dry cycle if you forget to pull the clothes out over night over the app?
Woohoo!! I’m not sure, it says in the manual to use a cup of bleach for the self clean cycle. Yes!! There is a button called extended tumble on the app
