Yes, ackee and saltfish is mainly a breakfast dish; especially if it's with fried dumplings. If it's with boiled food (ground provisions) then it also can be for dinner. Sometimes though Jamaicans like to eat breakfast for dinner...that's always fun. 😄

Here in Lapland, we also do the dishes by hand. Now in winter I fetch dish water from an icy pond, I heat it with a fire. You can probably guess that dishes are not left outside to dry in winter 😂. They should be dried immediately with a towel . We also love to cook by the fire and provide food from the surrounding nature. Maybe little bit more work in winter but I love it. Lowlife in countryside in Finnish Lapland. Next time you visit Finland you should visit Lapland. Life is beautiful 💙

Ackee and Saltfish is eaten any time of day. It can be had for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Calalloo and saltfish with boiled green bananas, boiled or fried dumplings is also a popular Jamaican breakfast

We have a proverb in Jamaica that says " A nuh same time leaf drop inna water it rotten." Meaning many things to do with doing the same wrong thing overtime. Literally leaving a wooden spoon in water to soak every time will in due course overtime cause it to damage rather than last for a long time.

Great video. I scrolled quickly to see if anyone answered your question and did not notice anyone had done so. The part at the bottom of the pot is called "bun bun" (Jamaican slang for burn burn, meaning burnt parts). Yes, it is very delicious. Yes, growing up, we also fought over it. As far as I can recall, the things that created delicious bun-bun were porridge (all kinds), tun caanmeal (turned cornmeal), and seasoned rice. On another note, I previously watched your video on the BoBo dreads/rastas because I thought your drive there would make me feel like going back home (I moved to the U.S. in Summer 1981 when I was 12). Though you didn't include driving past my street, seeing you in my area was good. My parent's house is on Greenvale Road at Nine Miles, and BoBo Hill/camp is top side the house (in the distance). Growing up, I would see the smoke, hear the drums beating, and, I believe, hear the singing. Once, I got nosey with binoculars but could see very little activity. I would see them and their children walking on the street with their brooms but had no idea the path they took to get home. Thank you for that video. I am also a country girl at heart; great representation of Jamaica in your videos; I love that you're clean when you cook; keep up the great work; and stay safe. Blessings!
