Well...fans are the problem too. Fans enjoy vibes more than the art itself. Then there are those who care more about trends, sales and charting numbers. Yes, it's nothing new but the streaming era made matters worse. I don't even want to talk about the long-term negative impact of TikTok.
Aye, Scru, been watching you since the Upchurch beef. I really love watching your mind go to work and you pointing out things most people wouldn't. Thank you for being such a real G. As far as the statement from Tyler, I totally agree. There are so many artists, let alone rappers, that just want a cash grab and don't look into the culture and the art. I've seen a massive decline in the love and culture in recent years. There were a lot of people with potential and that was dying out. Hell, one of the most significant rappers in my music journey was Xxxtentacion. The decline, in my eyes, started after his death. He influenced so many artists to do what they love. Rico Nasty, Billie Eilish, Bhad Bhabie, Doja Cat, Ski Mask the Slump God, and so many more were directly associated with him and evolved because of his ideals, culture, and love of music. If we had more people like him, Kendrick, and Tyler, we would see rap flourish.
Hip Hop is not exclusively black music. I don't say this to thumb peoples eyes, although it might be misconstrued to seem that way. If people want to take it the wrong way.. that their problem, not mine. It started in my backyard in SouthBronx.. American Blacks, Jamaicans, and latinos like Puerto Ricans and Dominicans (the Carribean connection, which used as historical reference, and a drug reference, double entendre) Jamaicans branched off and made Dancehall. Puerto Ricans like Vico C, took it to Puerto Rico mixed it with Muerengue and other carribean sounds and made Reggaeton. Dominicans took it, did their rapping, and made their Dembows. Each of these respective cultures took the people that were more closely tied to these lands. But the Americanized people stayed with Hip Hop, and grew hip hop. I don't understand where we began to hyper racialize an art form that has been embraced by every race and skintone... it's the music of the poorman. The voice of the voiceless. It's basically the new aged folk music, you got kids in Palestine, Israel, Russia, France f ***ing JAPAN!!!!! These people out here rapping poetry. If one was to say that the American blacks, were the stewarts and servants in the greater garden of Hip Hop. I would actually agree, and those talents would have earned all the Love and admiration. Because people like KRS-Ones was all American. He couldn't just go to Jamaica where his heritage is from, beyond blood his heart, and soul has no tie to that land. The music became corporate -the hands began chopping up pieces of the pie and marketting to them specifically. Big money stole the soul... And you du mb as ses stay falling for it. I am of the firm belief that there are people out here, who posses the walking, breathing and thinking materialized form of the soul. And others that are the shadows mimicking the material form of the soul...
Ghostface, Common, Rakim, Tha Dogg Pound; So much real rap dropped this year and its been 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Its been a long time since I truly loved hiphop like I did this year.
Rap and hiphop was sort of heading into a pop hiphop hybrid that people were starting to accept. Then Kendrick and Drake started rapping and making actually hiphop and people were like oh this I remember this this is what it should be.

W video Scru!❤ Oh and I think you should really react to lattos new album sugar honey iced tea. I know ALOT of female rappers don't be rapping like that but latto was dropping bars from the very first song and I think you would really enjoy it!
Bars are back in season. All that "Lyrics don't matter; my music a vibe. I'm about a bop" talk just might be over. I'm gonna be honest, I thought we were stuck like that but maybe I was wrong. Maybe now you'll tell what region an artist is from. For a minute there, guys from DC, LA, NO, NY, Chi, LA and ATL could all drop and all the songs would sound alike. That's not how it's supposed to be. Hopefully, those days are over.
Hip Hop been on this decline since 2016 if we being honest. It’s just taken some people longer than others to finally realize it. There’s still some great shit out there, but you gotta dig for it

I love this reaction, maybe you could make a video of underrated talent that should be getting the attention people like Ian take up. You know, like Doechii for example - she so fire but gets not enough recognition This really feels like a breaking point in the culture and how great would it be if the next generation is full of respect and love for the origins ♥
All Tyler the Creator albums really massive because people are listening to him on a streaming service cuz when you tell me something massive when it comes to artists I'm thinking about actually sold
The only take I disagreed with was the one on Lul baby. Even though his music isn’t hitting quite the same, I think that he had a great start to his career that lasted for a good while. 🤷🏾🤷🏾
Rap is experiencing what Rock went through in the 90s when labels were just signing any wack Nirvana rip-off band and losing money. Nowadays labels will sign any tiktok hit maker, that makes generic sounding trap music. But because the music has such a short lifespan it’s not enough for the artists to be rappers. They have to make content, they have to work with content creators and sell an image. Selling an image isn’t anything new to music but it’s more prevalent than ever before. Also with the rise of at-home studios and the ubiquitousness of recording pretty much anyone could pretend to be the next Yeat. Clearly the new generation doesn’t care about authenticity anymore. That’s how rappers like Lil Mabu and Ian get popular. Mainstream hip hop is starting to rot, just like rock did 30 years ago
I don’t like that Jack Harlow is in the thumbnail because Jack doesn’t do what Tyler was talking about , people hate on Jack because hes white but he’s a real rapper , he actually studies and cares about music just like Tyler does.
And it's not just hip hop, even if you look at the current pop artist. If you take the one hit wonder artists and their songs and put them in the radio as new releases they'll probably outsell and be at the top of billboard charts more than the songs on now!! Honestly of the 100 songs on the billboard how many songs are there that are actually hit songs. Not many I'm afraid!!
12:02 There’s something about YOU that you accepted in the branding. Scru I don’t know if they are ready for this realness and call to introspection! 💯
Do not slander Logic by putting him in the same conversation as those clowns Logic has at least 2 albums that are leagues better than anything Jack or Hopsin could ever dream of, and one of them came out this year. Logic’s a real one
Tyler caught himself being known more for comedy and not musical talent during that moment in the restaurant that he talked about in an interview and put his foot down for the love of the art that’s why he can stand tall on his take
Also, when Ice Spice dropped Munch, maybe a couple other singles, I was hearing raw talent. She had something which means if she can recapture that hunger she can do it again. The question is this though l; was that hunger or was she cosplaying a hungry, raw ass rapper chick? If she keeps putting out soulless fart music, I guess we'll get the answer. I actually donwant her to become an artist that can genuinely sit next to Taylor Swift at the Super Bowl cuz she's like that, not bc she had a moment. If that's all it is, she'll be washed before 30. A worse example of this is Sexy Redd.

YoungBoy has over 15B views on UA-cam
Kendrick has only 4B views on his channel , Kendrick has 15M subscribers YB has 13M
Kendrick has been in the game at least 10 yeas before YB
stop disrespecting the new generation Lyrical rap is dead
Might delete later should be considered as one of the more dope albums to come out of this year
u got good taste my friend 🫱🏾🫲🏽
pi is still top 5 rap songs to come out this year
hunting wabbitz is gas
Tyler kinda put alot of people on notice with his points when he dropped 'Igor' the same time as DJ Khaled and had better numbers. Khaled still hasn't recovered from that 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Crazy how Ian management team or whoever went off at Tyler when they literally proved his point
"Everybody Dies" by J.Cole... Perfect song for this occasion
To add to the Kid Laroi part, I thought he rapped better than everyone else in that Lyrical Lemonade song he was in from the All is Yellow album
I'm gonna say this right now
Before the interview, I had absolutely no idea who this Ian kid is
I listened to one snippet of one of his songs and holy fucking hell is he garbage 😭
Remember, the effort has to go into the art, not the wave, Everybody talking 'bout they own their masters, But if the music don't age well, it don't matter, It's like you own a hundred percent of nothing - Royce da 5’9
You're a creative genius, no joke!
WE WON'T BUY YOUR ONLYFANS RRAAAAAHHHHHH GET OUT OF HERE BOT RRAAAHHHH
Well...fans are the problem too.
Fans enjoy vibes more than the art itself.
Then there are those who care more about trends, sales and charting numbers. Yes, it's nothing new but the streaming era made matters worse.
I don't even want to talk about the long-term negative impact of TikTok.
Fans get manipulated by the industry who pushes this crap to the forefront
I’m so glad people are finally seeing what I been saw about Lil Baby.
If we had more people like him, Kendrick, and Tyler, we would see rap flourish.
would love to see more of Tyler on ur channel scru🙏🏾
I remember when NF was saying this same thing on Motto and Scru was hating 2:38 😂 I’m not even an NF fan, but it’s just funny
Bro doesn't waste time to show the merch much respect. Blow ur own trumpet unc.
Tyler the Creator doing something for attention? Dude it’s Tyler the Creator we were already paying attention to him.
Eminem said the same stuff on Kamikaze and was called a bitter old head…. Make it make sense dog lol
Hip Hop is not exclusively black music. I don't say this to thumb peoples eyes, although it might be misconstrued to seem that way. If people want to take it the wrong way.. that their problem, not mine.
It started in my backyard in SouthBronx.. American Blacks, Jamaicans, and latinos like Puerto Ricans and Dominicans (the Carribean connection, which used as historical reference, and a drug reference, double entendre)
Jamaicans branched off and made Dancehall.
Stormzy and Chase & Status - Backbone
Ghostface, Common, Rakim, Tha Dogg Pound; So much real rap dropped this year and its been 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Its been a long time since I truly loved hiphop like I did this year.
The group main source made a song 'fakin the funk' in 1991. The lyrics describe this era so well.
I love the eggs metaphor 😂.
Rap and hiphop was sort of heading into a pop hiphop hybrid that people were starting to accept. Then Kendrick and Drake started rapping and making actually hiphop and people were like oh this I remember this this is what it should be.
Great review, completely agree alot of these "artists" are cosplaying some of the best concerts I've been to was J. Cole, MGK, and Kevin Gates the crowd work and energy was something you can't fake...true musicians
6:20 scru I get that analogy but damn, I ain't doin that shi😂😂😂😂
it's definitely an interesting debate to have about hip hop. Tyler is one of my favorite artists but I do also enjoy Ian's music, so I'm really just interested to see how this whole situation pans out
W video Scru!❤ Oh and I think you should really react to lattos new album sugar honey iced tea.
There’s still some great shit out there, but you gotta dig for it
Tyler is special, man. He's not a rapper, he's an artist on so many levels. He's musically miles ahead of his peers and people should listen to him.
It’s like scru said “lemme see how many times I can scream while they talking then pause it and talk more” 😂😂😂 def left at 7 mins to just watch it myself lol
Loved what Tyler had to say, but I do think this dude was being harsh putting Jack Harlow next to fucking ice spice and sexy red, like his music or not, he clearly cares about becoming a better rapper
this hit the spot, it sucks seeing all these chronically online mfs ruin shit we genuinely care about
I been listening to underground hip hop and the 90s hip hop
Tyler, The Creator has been in this industry for so long. He is literally number one in my book! Makes great music and has great sense of style.
more tyler the creator reactions PLEASEEEEEEE
We still need the MGK - El Pistelero reaction
Thank you @KendrickLamar for reviving authenticity in the hip-hop culture!!!❤❤❤❤❤
He didn’t
Yessss! Finally fighting back 👊👊👊🔥🔥🔥
Ahreed KL he's got something. Him dealing with OneFour was dope.
I love this reaction, maybe you could make a video of underrated talent that should be getting the attention people like Ian take up. You know, like Doechii for example - she so fire but gets not enough recognition
This really feels like a breaking point in the culture and how great would it be if the next generation is full of respect and love for the origins ♥
😂😂 this is the most emotional(not a bad thing btw) guy I done seen on YT yet.. This was pure facts 👌
A genre usually goes mainstream whenever the art is authentic to the artist then copies follow to gain that same success
Nah Tyler speaking nothing but facts. The music the authenticity and the heart behind what we do is important!
I feel like any music genre that takes the top pisition is gonna suffer this
You a hip hop head and fan so I always love your take on shit. A Real G🙏🏿🫡
Tyler is 1000% correct and he said that he’s a real nerd about Hip-Hop. He embodies the culture of it!
You gotta react to Cassidys No Diddy. He's getting at Drake crazy on that.
I don’t like that Jack Harlow is in the thumbnail because Jack doesn’t do what Tyler was talking about , people hate on Jack because hes white but he’s a real rapper , he actually studies and cares about music just like Tyler does.
really wish you'd do some Tyler the creator reactions
Scru you are one of my favorite youtubers ever
And it's not just hip hop, even if you look at the current pop artist. If you take the one hit wonder artists and their songs and put them in the radio as new releases they'll probably outsell and be at the top of billboard charts more than the songs on now!! Honestly of the 100 songs on the billboard how many songs are there that are actually hit songs. Not many I'm afraid!!
Check out the run that Don Trip has been on. That dude is heavily slept on and has nothing but 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You need to check out Native Sons by Talib Kweli and J. Rawls, with what is happening with hip hop is mentioned in the song.
One of the best new artist out right now is Tobi Nwigwe he PERFORMS
You gotta react to immortal technique-dance with the devil!
!!
Never thought when I grew up Tyler the Creator would be the oldhead 😂
tylers a smart dude, he knows how things are
12:02 There’s something about YOU that you accepted in the branding.
Scru I don’t know if they are ready for this realness and call to introspection! 💯
You gotta show some love to Lupe man he’s a true artist in the game, review his new album samurai show everyone true art n lyricism!!
To many one hit wonders in the game.
Now he see's how Eminem feels now they need to collab
Yo Logic??? And Jack Harlow???? And Lil Dicky???? Nahhhh HOPSIN!!! Nahh bro he’s weird too
Do not slander Logic by putting him in the same conversation as those clowns
Logic has at least 2 albums that are leagues better than anything Jack or Hopsin could ever dream of, and one of them came out this year.
Scru we need the new blp kosher album reaction, its fire
so basically the old heads were right all along.
Hip-Hop should be in the Olympics, the battle part of Hip-Hop.
This is a sport!!!
Lottie Dottie, we came to party.
Tbh the abysmal state of hip-hop up until The Beef made me listen to more old-school rap 😂
Tyler 120% correct
