I thought that that scene was quite poignant too. I understand it in terms of language. But then I think about all those languages and cultures which have been lost without the involvement of Europeans too. Currently, I'm battling with questions to whether we must play any role in safeguarding cultures or must we let them die out (like thousands of cultures before us). And then about development - how can we demand peoples to 'stay as they are' when I, myself, have adopted a western mode of living, speaking and thinking.
