Rarely was an athlete this good.. Have the heart that Ali did ... Speed & intelligence Have the principles and be worthy of the title of "The Greatest" -- Still inspirational today 6'3" and 220lbs depending upon point in his career..
best knockout was when we locked eyes in the lobby of a hotel in the early 00s and my jaw dropped, he was 20ft away. then he kinda took a stance and my friends and i shrieked. when we were kings is so awesome. there will never be another like him!
@@lucashirst9698 Yes. They were above lightweights in weight and below Middleweights. Heavyweights of the time were considered bangers slower and more powerful. Ali changed that idea. His motto was "Float like a butterfly...Sting like a bee." And he did that. His footwork was the difference from most in his weight class.
Young Ali was so so fast, amazing. The Floyd Patterson fight was right after Ali changed his name, Patterson kept calling him Clay and Ali kept saying over and over in the fight "what's my name" as a pummeled him. Brutal.
Billy Crystal and Ali were very close friends. If you want to see something truly moving, watch Crystal's eulogy for Ali at his funeral. It was pretty incredible.
Ali won this fight by outsmarting Foreman (the dope in rope-a-Dope). Ali was getting older and Foreman was a young and crazed pitbull of a knock out king who had never been past 3 rounds. Ali knew he was in good shape but getting slower. His strategy was to tire George out by letting him punch himself out while leaning on the ropes covering up. BY the time Ali knocks George out you could have knocked him over with a feather because he was punched out! That is why he says at the end he is the scholar of boxing. He used his head to win this one. George said later in the locker room after the fight he found God. Up until then he was a mean nasty fighter out for blood.
I was at the Chuck Wepner fight. Me and my Dad. Chuck's nickname was the Bayonne Bleeder. Stallone based the first Rocky movie off that fight. Jimmy Ellis took the beating you sawfor 12 rounds. It was like Ali played with him for 11 the decided. Fuck him.
in the late 70s, early 80s, most kids could name the top ten heavyweights in the world cuz we saw them every weekend on ABC Wide World of Sports. when Tyson came along I wondered if he'd finally be the one to actually be better than Ali. unfortunately, iron Mike's demons got the better of him. Ali is the Greatest of All-Time...float like a butterfly, sting like a bee
Ali, Tyson and Roy Jones KO highlights I could watch all day! Ali will always be the GOAT! RIP Champ

Ali moved like a Welterweight but had the power of a Heavyweight. It was a pleasure to watch his career.
This might sound stupid but is a welterweight a bit like lightweight

And you have to remember they stole his prime years from him… GOAT!!!
Those other guys were badasses, but they couldn’t hold up against The Man.
