I was in this commercial playing the tuba, I was a "crab" (freshman) at the time . . . 1981, the next year we went to Japan to perform at the Mirage Bowl where a photo of me was on the cover of the souvenir program book. Chance of a lifetime ...
I remember seeing this commercial in the fifth or sixth grade and this was the catalyst for me becoming a part of this World Famous Tiger Marching Band!
woW MY MOM STILL HAS THIS VIDEO FROM A LOOONNNNGGGG TIME AGO!!!WOW ITS REALLY GOOD AND I THINK THAT THE BAND WAS MORE PUT TOGETHER AND WELL DISCIPLINE BACK THEN BUT THEY R STILL WONDERFUL TODAY!! AND I CAN SAY THAT I GREW UP IN GRAMBLING AND WOW I STILL LIVE IN THAT SHIT!!IGH LOLzzzz!!!:)
My band director was in that commercial:) He said they filmed this in the middle of November, so it was super cold. To appear like they were sweating, they Coke people covered them in vasiline and squirted them with water.
Just for fun, I am going to point out that that was also the years that "Gimme a Break!" made its debut! I always thought that Julie was hot! Lauri Hendler forever!
0:14 Coke was this good back when the still used real sugar. I'd kiss my cold bottle of coke too if they still made it that way. And in glass bottles!. Coke is still good but it used to be better.
I just watched this video on mute, I know, the irony. But all I could see was a drug propaganda video showing the word "Coke" and us enjoying ourselves. Media is tricky now and then.
Shawn Dowdy LOL! I watched this on mute as well, and it seems I saw the word "Coke" probably somewhere around 22 times. Even with that, I still didn't come to anything remotely concluding any type propaganda of the word "Coke"! Your mind simply took you to a place where you once was, or where you wanted to be at that moment. Say no to drugs!
Ahhhh, those were the days! Whatever happened to that band, are they still around? What was their name again...Grambalin?....something like that.. Cool moves, dynomite! Hey, btw, there's this band in Louisiana with similar uniforms, but boy do they suck in comparison. Anyway, nice commercial.
videoknife The band is the World Famed Tiger Marching Band of Grambling State University. Located in Grambling, LA. And yes we are still around and doing better than ever.
