    Very helpful video - thank you! I am going to attempt to repaint my grandmother’s vintage concrete statues. They still have quite a bit of
    paint on them, but it’s very worn or in some spots completely gone. Do you still recommend wetting the statues first before applying the new paint?

      Thank you for the feedback! I still recommend wetting the statue. The main issue is making sure it’s nice and clean, free of any debris.

    How does using stain compare to the paint? Does it wear as well? I’m looking to give a garden statue an aged bronze look. Thanks for the info & hopefully a reply! 😉

    My Mom has a horse statue that needs a new paint job. It's been painted over 15 years ago. Do you still recommend the water based acrylic latex paint when you don't know what type the original paint is?

    • @rubbermoldman8544
      @rubbermoldman8544  Рік тому +1

      Personally yes, it locks everything in and allows you to start fresh from a clean base coat.

    Thank you for your wonderful videos! I was wondering, for the basecoat, do you let it completely dry just the 5 mins before you start the finishing coats, or do you let it dry overnight? Also, do you water down your finishing coat paint as well, or is it the original consistency?

    • @rubbermoldman8544
      @rubbermoldman8544  Рік тому

      I let it completely dry in most cases. It usually does not require overnight, but its not a problem to let is dry longer. The base coat is the only watered down coat, thanks

    How about sealing concrete fountains that are going to be submerged in water / holding water and pouring over it. What sealer do you use for fountains?

    • @rubbermoldman8544
      @rubbermoldman8544  Рік тому

      I actually use the exact same sealer I use on all my concrete statues, I just will sometimes do a few coats of it. Here’s the video on how I seal- ua-cam.com/video/f_Qisp1CmTk/v-deo.html

    hi there i wonder if you could help me with a project
    so my grandmother has a pair of concrete statues shed like painted the one shes tried herself over the years and lets just say...its rough shes used all sorts of random junk she has laying around and he looks a bit worse for wear so I've offered to do it for her
    the first statue is a concrete budha with a smooth finish which wed like to paint gold (or gold ish not expecting a high shine)
    the second one however is a tortoise but is quite old so has a rough weathered surface finish with pock marks all over it
    what paints would you recommend for them both

    • @rubbermoldman8544
      @rubbermoldman8544  Рік тому

      Sounds like quite the project! Heres a few things I'd reccomend. First fill in the pits on the tortoise using our technique in this video. ua-cam.com/video/DcvgUbHMwcY/v-deo.html
      You can use this mixture to fill or smooth out any imperfections.
      For the gold buddha I have a video on a bronze finish that has a few tips on painting with metalic tones. ua-cam.com/video/KeOXhBLm8K8/v-deo.html
      We use water based exterior latex paint for all our statues. Feel free to reach out with anymore questions, good luck!

      Spray paint does not make a good base coat, it may look good at first but Ive never found any that last.
