On most stations I see a list of users and additional information however on a few nothing shows up. How can I get their information to show up?
Thanks Guys! Even thought the post is 2 years old there's a lot of great info here for us novices!!! Appreciate it and may be talking to you soon!
Another new Echolink user here. Thanks to you and John for the overview, it's been a great help - there's a bit too much information in the Echolink user guide to take in all at once!

Great video. I'm a new HAM, and this just totally taught me how to use the EchoLink software!
Thanks so much for your comment! KI4CFS
Best video I have seen on Echo Link. Learned a lot
Thanks!
Thanks so much, this has really helped me understand how EchoLink works.
Glad it helped!
Thanks for all the information.
Excellent program review John, Thank you!!

Really awesome info here. I was really unsure on the how-to's of Echolink and you guys went through it super thoroughly.
Thanks!
Loved this presentation of Echolink KI5LMY
Thanks so much!
"Exactly what people are looking for" is correct. Brand new ham operator here (yesterday) and downloaded the ECHO LINK APP, but was struggling to figure it out. Followed through all those set-up tabs you guys discussed, but still cannot connect to the Test Server or most stations. They are timing out. I was able to connect to a repeater in Allen Tx, but that was it. Still working the learning curve I guess. KI5YUU
Please see out a local club or a Echolink facebook group for more help. Wish you the best. KI4CFS
Just got EchoLink set up, Thanks for the excellent video, it explained a lot. Two thing I have found so far is to double check your sound source (mine was using my webcab rather than my head set) and I changed the PTT to momentary so the spacebar acts more like a PPT. Looking forward to playing around.
Great to hear!! Where are you out of? Maybe we can talk sometime on EchoLink! Martin KI4CFS
Great tutorial! Answered my questions about using this form of amateur radio. Keep up the good work, KD8EZK Jack
Thanks so much. It is also the way I learn. KI4CFS
Greetings from England. Very informative, and it's furthered my knowledge of this.

Thank you for posting this! I am having a very difficult time waiting till testing reopens, to get started!
You are welcome but you do need at least a Technician license to talk on it but you can learn it. Also consider joining my volunteer group on Facebook - Learning and Passing your Ham Radio Exams facebook.com/groups/LearningHamRadio/
KI4CFS - Ham Radio - Martin Brossman I’m ready for the technician test and now working on the general class material. Logged into the FCC site and received my FRN so I’m ready for the test. Just waiting till the earliest testing on May 9th in Wake Forest according to ARRL. 73s
@@KenBigley1 Great and glad you enjoyed the video.
KI4CFS - Ham Radio - Martin Brossman I’ve been using it for the Cary CERT stay at home net daily at 11:00 hours. de KO4DHJ
Hi, thanks for the elaborate instruction on the EchoLink software. What I am trying to understand how do you link with your HT to say a repeater nearby that has a EchoLink to come out on a repeater elsewhere? Connecting to a repeater nearby I understand, is done with sending the DTFM node number from your HT. But how do you connect to that other repeater elsewhere? OR you type/dial the node number of the repeater elsewhere directly sending the DTFM to that repeater nearby? 😁
My first Amateur QSO was on EchoLink with KO4CR in Largo, FL
Thanks for your comment!
One of the many reasons I love it!
The Best video on the subject thanks
Thanks! KI4CFS
Great explanation.
Thanks
Excellent video on Echolink! Thank you. 73 KI5CSG

Hey can you use a boafeng radio to talk international without using a computer to programmed it
Nice tutorial. I noticed I can see my WAN IP address and was wondering if that could be a security risk?
the lightning boly and connections are greyed out?
This is really helpful information.
Thanks so much for responding! KI4CFS
I hope that one day some one made a UHF add on board for the raspberry pi. A mobile Pi node with 30 mAh uhf module and svxlink or open repeater project software would be perfect.
What is the different between echolink and and any android app walkie talkie that u can talk global and local? There on those walkie talkie apps u can use talk anywhere too so what is the different
Great question and it is the key is anyone with an Android can join the walkie-talkie app but you have to earn and pass the license to talk on Ham Radio and that changes the dynamics. Also, you are not to talk about politics and you are always connected to your call sign so people often act better than they are on Social Media or an open discussion. Ham Radio is something earned not just bought. Martin KI4CFS
@@KI4CFSHamRadioMartinBrossman so basically is the educational u get from getting lisence and the knowledge of understanding how radio frequencies communication works that makes a difference is what ur saying correct. They both do the same thing ham radios and walkie talkie besides wifi and RF communicating , but I do see the different on listening on the apps walkie talkies there is no respect, no way of who people are and no point of communicating there . Well thank you for the reply I will get my hands soon on my lisence 👍👍
@@SuAmigoElilegal One is a hobby with a required license to get into it with a lifetime of things to learn and do and the other had no barrier to get in but on a phone. They both have their place and are different. Wish you the best!
Has the layout in the program changed now ? I don't see name sin the station column now , nothing for WORLD
Holy smokes, you sound like John Goodman
What if the internet goes down. Then what happens?
It's a hobby, and Echolink has helped a lot of people get connected. An example is how I helped one disabled Vet get his license and get on the air first with Echolink. From that people donated him a radio and he enjoys many aspects of the hobby. That is they the hobby is so great and broad there is something for everyone. If you don't like one thing that, do something else in the hobby.

have a motorola handheld n I have gmrs lisence . I programmed my radio to a repeater frequency around 465. UHF and I'm able to talk around 100 milles . Is it the same thing when programing the echo link to my radio or do I need another radio with different frequency and how do I know that echolink is goin to reach like Argentina or like another county
The key to Echolink it is is mostly over the internet and that is useful for new Amateur Radio operators that have a computer or Smartphone and internet but no radio yet.
@@KI4CFSHamRadioMartinBrossman oh but I see videos on UA-cam that people using baofeng radios talking international. How r they doing that ny echo links ot just frequency n what frequency

"zero all that out" "overdriving" sounds like JDR is an audio engineer
If you have a problem connecting you may need to turn OFF the Wi-fi connection and only run over cell phone data. Also sometimes you have to close and restart the app. photos.app.goo.gl/mN84XMvGsJtUf4yB7

Echo link is crap, I have download the software on my iphone but it won't let me validate and points me to the web site, when I go to the web site it tells me to install the software to begin validation , it is an endless circle. Complete crap.
You need to be a licensed Amateur Radio Operator to use EchoLink...What about 3rd party privileges?
