They leaked the QR code when they entered at the chicken place and chatters were probably placing random orders for them. The woman asked if they were done ordered because stuff probably kept coming in on the app while she saw that they were not actually using the app.
Yup that's exactly what was happening, I bet people are still using it to place random orders right now lol. (At 14:27 the waiter asks if they'd like them to start cooking the orders that have already come in earlier via the QR code)
Watching this trip, they really need at least one person that is at least Cdawg-level Japanese fluency. All of their frustrations and problems would legitimately be stopped (or at least 80% lessened) with just that.
The streamer experience is completely different to the casual tourist. While I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, I had absolutely no issue communicating in Tokyo/Kyoto (major tourism centers mind you) with minimal Japanese.
@danielxp5xx I agree that many tourists would be fine with little to no Japanese language skill and just google translate. But watching these clips at restaurants where the waitresses are asking very basic questions and no one understanding is honestly really frustrating, for probably everyone involved. For the waitresses, the annoyance and stress of having customers that they can't communicate with is clear, especially if you can speak/are used to the nuances of the language. Tbh I was glad when Hasan pulled out Google translate in the middle of the shabu shabu dinner. It at least showed an attempt at communicating directly.
Time to come to New zealand. Law just changed to allow tourists to work remotely (digital nomads) for 90 days.
