I started Crossfit a little over a year ago and I weighed 390 lbs. I am now down to 275 lbs and do Crossfit 5 days a week. There are still movements that I have to scale but there are movements for anyone of any size. The hardest part for me was walking into the box for the 1st time, after I got past that I was fine. The sense of community in crossfit box's is an awesome feeling. Everyone is there to support you and get you through that workout. If you are overweight no matter how over weight, Just try it. You will not be disappointed.
Wow, this is a great video many people need to see. Glad you’re humble enough to share your insecurities, accomplishments, successes, etc. This is one of the things I love about Crossfit, it’s like another church you join. I’ve seen Crossfit bring the best out of people.
Just had my first Foundations course earlier tonight. I was certainly nervous beforehand even though I've been active and relatively fit for a while. The welcoming feel of the gym and the awesome coaching took all the nervousness away and made me so excited to go again! (By the way, thanks for the insightful and hilarious vid!)
My husband had been doing Crossfit for 3 months and I thought I had to be more fit to join. I had never played sports or rarely worked out before joining and now I’m 5 years in and loving it! ☺️ Also, a good gym should offer a foundation course like Mike went through.
I really want to do cross fit and I have always been scared because my left knee is trashed. I can hardly jump rope without something happening too it. Now I want to go to my local cross fit gym and see if they have a foundation class.

I didn’t have my first full cup of coffee till I was 30. I just never liked it, but after a surgery the doc said drink a cup of coffee, it’ll help. (If you have had surgery you might know why.) That cup wasn’t horrible. Still haven’t had one since.
I wanted to tr crossfit just as conditioning for thaiboxing. I didn't do it because it's so expensive. The gym where I do Thaiboxing cost 40 bucks a month and there's 4 classes every week. The crossfit gym costs 20 bucks for one session and like 119 a month. That's just insane pricing when I just want to do it as conditioning.
I wish I knew crossfit was scalable before starting my weight loss journey. I didn't start until after losing all my weight. But at the right gym anything is possible for anyone.
Just seeing this, my daughter and I started 3 weeks ago…she is thin, but not fit and I am 245# and in terrible shape…I am loving CrossFit, even as I feel like I am dying each day!!!
I tried the box near me a few months back for about six weeks (they didn't have a foundation class or anything like that). The members and community there are amazing, but I just didn't feel comfortable with the coaches (who were both pretty young). I have primary lymphedema in both my lower legs and bad knees. More often times than not I was running over time as the next class was coming in as I was still trying to finish my version of the WoD, so the coach would tell me to finish what I was doing and wrap up since the next class needed to start. It was a bit disheartening. So... I'm still hoping to find someone who can coach me and help me deal with my knee and lower leg issues. :(
