Mine loves the Winchester and Federal 170 grain loads! These Leverevolutions were okay.. but the accuracy was not as good! I'll add to your point.. using open sights at 100 yards.. the front sight covers up a good portion of the target. I believe that a Williams peep sight with the fiber optic front sight is the best option! I consistently get 3 inch groups at 100 yards and 1 inch groups at 50 yards with both Winchester and Federal 170's Great job putting this one together brother
Mine was bought new in 77'. Used once on button buck. Been thinking about using Hornady's Leverlution ammo in it! Good to know to put a flat nose up the tube first!😊
Do not put 7 rounds in the tube of a 94, I learned the hard way that 1 in the chamber and 7 in the tube caused the bullets to be pushed back int the cases. 6 in the tube does not push the bullets back.
I would guess it won't get hard enough to detonate the primer of the round in front of it. I prefer the soft-point ammo as well for my 94. In a scoped Marlin, I may disagree. I just haven't tried it yet. I'm with you: I've got a .270 and a .243 if I need the range. Thanks for watching!
My "JM" Marlins load and feed the Hornady "plastic" point stuff fine but the accuracy is nothing to brag about and expansion is a crap shoot. And then there is case length come handloading time....Good luck with that as the cases I've worked with, thus far, have been on the short side. My U.S. made Winchester '94 HATES the Hornady stuff to the point I have come to consider it overpriced range/plinking ammo and would only risk using it on a deer or hog hunting trip if I was unable to find/ran out of traditional Winchester, Remington, or Federal ammo.
I have a model 94 it loves the Hornady 160s I have iron sights but 50 yards it's less than once inch in sure I could probably do the same at 100 if it has a scope. It's put about 7 whitetails on the ground before nasty exit. Seen videos on expansion seems to be greater than other rounds.
Great video, love anything that has to do with the 30-30, and dont listen to those right handed freaks! We know we are way more talented than they are, lol in all seriousness i found your channel and loved your content.@@YonderOak
My Remlin 1894 in 44 Mag HATES Lever-Revolution... HATES it... jams up on it.. locks the action up on it... HATES IT! My jacketed hollow points cycle like greased lightning... My reloaded JHP's are moving along just as fast as Lever-Revo's... but they actually cycle perfectly...

Glad I could help. Good luck!
I got two 1894's 30-30 made 1907.and a 25-35 made 1905.shoots those rounds great.your gun made after 1964. 😊
I have been using Hornaday leverevolution ammo for years with no issues. My Winchester is a model 94ae.
Being an AE, yours would have been made after they changed the follower design.
Whoa. Good to know! Thanks for the heads up!
I have three lever guns.I am going to check the profiles on the magazine followers.Thank you for pointing this out
You’re welcome!

My eaely 1990's Model 94AE had the exact same issue. I never tried using LeverRevolution again in thst particular rifle.
My 94 is not consistent at all with leverloution
What happens when that plastic point gets hard ?? All this spitzer 30-30 stuff is rubbish. If I need range I'll just use a .270.

I’m “Team Round Nose” as well.
