Leo's hand growing back probably has something to do with the mutagen boosting a reptiles healing ability. Something akin to a lizard growing back its tail after leaving it behind.
Now that episode was epic, Mikey had became more serious since the family had felt apart and the tone was more gritty and dark. I would love to see an animated film like this, perhaps geared towards an mature audience.
@@amh2197 he even lost an eye due to getting shot in the face. The comics were much darker then the toons and the movies. I would like to catch up on them
There's is one character called Pimiko? In this she's dressed like she came out of a bondage film. I remember in one part of the comic ALL of these women attack them all wearing about the same as the one lady and Mikey while fighting says this: "Sheesh! I feel like I'm trapped in A Beer Commercial that combined Baywatch and Barb Wire!" This is before Leo lost his hand but during his meditation when he actually contacts Donnie and finds out where Donnie is and the fact that Donnie has no sensation below his neck. That whole scene with a bunch of sexy scantily clad women fighting him was pretty funny.
I personally think it's fantastic that there is Turtles content of all types. First live action movie is still one of my all time favorite things ever and I saw it at the drive in theatre as a kid when it first came out haha
I know a lot of people dislike the Image run but I always loved it. Even the physical changes the turtles went through. I’d love a NECA figure 4 pack in the Fosco style. Cyborg Don, one hand Leo, Casey mask Raph and..... Mikey lol I also loved the Bodycount mini series too for how over the top it is.
Damn the comics are much darker, surprisingly, i never got into them but i love TMNT. I would love to see something like this in an animated film with a more serious tone.
Wanna talk about dark, the current story, The Last Ronin, is both Dark and sad at the same time. There is also an issue of Urban Legends where Donnie is extremely hurt
To see The Last Ronin into an animated movie, such as the Batman animated movies would be amazing to see and feels like it’d project the emotion of the story much more

@@adrianacarrera3255 you a puss. I would love to have read the darker comic versions of TMNT. Oh and if your a female then I am sorry for calling you that.
I enjoyed this different take, and was glad years later to finally have it wrapped up. I do remember when I was younger though. Bodycount was a bit much for me, and was not the TMNT I liked, but now I can enjoy it
Jason. I had stated in the comment section before how I would really appreciate a more darkened version of the turtles geared towards a more grown audience. Imagine seeing a animated movie like this with a great storyline and actual death. We have seen this in the Batman DC Universe. It would definitely work here as well.
Bro i have been saying this throughout this entire comment section. It would be soo lit. I love it. I am not sure what rating it would get. But look at the many Batman animated films that are geared towards adults. Now Batman is enjoyed by all ages. TMNT needs to go back to its dark roots and put something together on screen.
Has anybody notice that Michelangelo has got no damage or life-threatening kills? Like Donnie got cyborged, Raph lost half of his face, Leo lost his hand While Mikey is just sitting back.
Aren’t Komodo dragons like crazy toxic and dangerous? Bitten once but then lead dragon bites his hand off. By then Leonardo has the toxin and bacteria in him now. Komodos when they bite will wait for their prey to die from the effects of the lethal bite. It is either bacteria laced with some venom that when bitten chews into the flesh. Blood poisoning, the wound septic. Actually Nile monitor lizards have a similar trait and let’s not forget Gila monsters.
This is my favourite turtle comic. I totally suggest reading it if you haven't already, whether it be the coloured version or not. Definitely worth the read. It would have been better if he didn't regrow the hand.
I was big into Image's Savage Dragon, Pitt and Trencher back in those days. I remember a crossover of Savage Dragon and the Turtles and I was very surprised how dark they were. I liked it but not enough to buy into the series. I thought I would come back at a later time, but then it discontinued.
I loved the original run, and how by the end of it only Mikey was not physically maimed in some way. I liked that they came back to the series to give it some closure, but Leo's hand mysteriously growing back while Raph's face is still half missing after years of time doesn't make sense to me.
This is some awesome work! Dope video turtle dens!! Always wondered if the turtles have some type of regenerative properties in their blood when they get cut, shot or the loss of a limb in the comics.
I liked this series as a teen and bought the recent IDW omnibus. I've got the second omni on pre-order and will re-read them when it comes out. Cool to see it in color, as Fosco's linework can be a bit confusing.
I own some of the original image tmnt comics and I love them I can’t wait to get the urban legends re release when they compile all of the issues in one book
Ah, the Image Comics Turtles. I think I should start off by saying i've never read the Image Turtles (although, i do know a couple things). The Image Turtles came out around a time where (mostly) Comics didn't care much for the story and focus more on blood, nudity, drugs, etc rather then telling a good to decent story. So, i've been holding off on this run (you could say). Now, as for Leonardo losing his hand? Meh, i do think the execution needed a bit more work but, a Turtle losing a hand could make a villain more threatening imo. So, the Komodo's are kinda imitating to me although, i'll guess I'll read it for myself to find out someday.
Hmm. Seems a bit too much like the comic-book-death trope for my tastes. Huge life-shattering event and, uh, oh, never mind. It got better. There _is_ a precedent for badass one-armed swordsmen. Like, well... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/One-Armed_Swordsman
That was my biggest problem with it they get them hurt badly in the very beginning instead of across the series just so they can show how grown up this is and the Turtles act like raph got a bruise when he lost half his face and most injuries aren't mentioned later and heals it's such a cliché i hate it
Reptiles and amphibians actually can grow some limbs back. Most lizards are capable of dropping their tail in order to escape a predator and grow it back over time while most frogs (amphibians) can grow arms and legs back so they were playing on actual nature there with Leo's hand. Though having had a three legged box turtle as pet before I can tell you they cannot grow their arms and legs back like that.
Like I commented in Raph’s face being blown off the turtles have some sort of healing factor that is probably thanks to the mutagen since it’s the only reason I can think of and pls comment if you have any theories on this at all. Just to make this easier to grasp let’s say that all 4 have this healing factor with Donny proving how effective it can be and Raph being another prime example (only reason I chose those two for the example is due to their damn severe injuries they were lucky to survive though Donny was at death’s door so many times before getting kicked out back to the living). How come not many people speak about the crazy things the turtles have done and survived?
"Leo's been through a lot" Me:in 2012 donnie almost died in an explosion, he got shot by the kraang, donnie and mikey got beaten up by slash,he got hurt by a monkey,he died twice in the comics,he was designagrated, so.....yeah LEO has been through a lot
I seem te remember reading an art book that said that the mutagen was making it so donatello was slowly growing his body back. So mabey that has something to do with leonardo's hand but sense that it was so sudden it might be something else at play
