    I had a black locust tree on a previous property and just loved the bright lime green of the spring leaves!

    THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL WITH THE FLOWERS ON, REALLY GOOD INFO ABOUT THEM TODAY, AS FAR AS I KNOW REDBUDS CAN HAVE A DEEP TAPROOT SYSTEM THAT DEVELOPS REALLY QUICK THE FIRST FEW YEARS AFTER PLANTING, THEY DON’T LIKE ANY SOIL WITH TOO MUCH CLAY IN IT. AWWW 😊 THE LIL HEART MADE ME CHUCKLE !!

    Thank you for your sharing this information about Red Bud tree, I planted one 15 years ago and just thought it was a pretty tree, but GOD must of had other plans for it for me in the future!
    GOD Bless you and keep you safe during these times we're living in ✝️ ♥️

      I’ll look for some seeds and do that! I’m afraid I might have missed my opportunity and will have to wait until this fall.

    Who’s putting on a new metal roof? Sounds like an impact wrench to me! Wow I cannot believe how much your locust trees are growing! Redbud is the bud of the future!!! That and bud ice!🍺

    Great info. You should make an ebook called. "My Food Forest Super Market"
    How many edible plants, vegetables, fruits, berries, herbs etc do you have on your land?

      No telling...especially if you consider different cultivars. I have several different types of apples, peaches, pears and grapes. I’d love to write an e-book. I will one day. You’re such an encouragement, David!

      It’s a great tree and if you want more, they spread very easily...just look for them and transplant where you want them.

    How fast rebuds grow - how much per year / how tall are they after 3 or 5 years for example?

    • @CopperheadRoadHomestead
      @CopperheadRoadHomestead  3 роки тому +1

      These have been in the ground for a little over a year and not much growth. I think that they spend a lot of time developing roots the first year or two AND these have a lot of competition. I can’t see them growing more than 5-10 feet in 3-5 years. They’re not fast growers.

    Lots of really great info ! That black locust tree grew fast . I don't know anything about red buds . Does your neighbor ever say anything about you letting your property grow up ?

    • @CopperheadRoadHomestead
      @CopperheadRoadHomestead  4 роки тому +1

      Never a word. I guess we aren’t very neighborly. I hardly talk to them at all. I should probably make more of an effort.

    Are Red Buds Edible?

  • @DM-sg3cj
    @DM-sg3cj 4 роки тому

    No, they spread by seeds and sucking back. Much like a Mimosa they aren't a long lived tree (30-40 years) and tend to rot in the center with age and will break or get blown other before they die., if they co just cut them down to a low stump and it will sucker back feeding off that roots if the old plant.

    • @CopperheadRoadHomestead
      @CopperheadRoadHomestead  4 роки тому

      I didn't think they spread by rhizomes. Thank you! They are beautiful in early spring, right!?

      @@CopperheadRoadHomestead Yeah I'm down here in Farmington and they are pretty much weeds, get to learn the bark most trees can be identified in the winter by the bark. Like wild cherry's I have those thing coming up like maple if you need any. Also several Japanese Maple and Golden Rain Trees but I'm going to transplant them and make groves out of them.
      I need to hook up with the tree companies and get those wood chips I did not know they'd give you those. I only need a couple of loads.
