6:22 Love that you have the okkake daisan tsugi joint right in the middle like that beam. It really showcases the strength of the joint. Really like all the help you had for this and thanks for another great video...can't wait to see more.
Yes, it is a very strong joint! Thank you 😊🙌
@@dylaniwakuni I'm still a little lacking in understanding on when it's best to use kanawa-tsugi on a horizontal beam versus okkake tsugi like you used here.
I agree with another commenter - it's rare to see construction works begin from top down but in this case it is the most logical move but definitely the harder road to travel. Fantastic work!
Thanks! It was my first time doing such a thing 😁
Wow! Fascinating to see renovation work performed from the top down.
As always, it’s wonderful to see original structures restored using traditional methods.
May you all enjoy a prosperous year 🤙
Thanks! Wishing you a great year too!
This looks a lot more difficult than building a new house. You guys are awesome.
Haha it definitely is! But it’s very rewarding!
I absolutely love seeing this. Japanese joinery really is a pleasure to watch, and it's been honed and experimented with for thousands of years, and it shows. Great video!
Outstanding skill sets. And deep commitment. Rare these days!
Cheers! 😊🙌
Such beautiful precision.
Thank you 😊
Beautiful work and not a nail or screw in sight!
Absolutely masterful! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers! 😊🙌
very cool build! I like your joinery choices ;)
Thanks man 😊🙌
Why am I so fascinated with this? I'm not a wood worker, nor do I work in construction.
As always, absolutely BEAUTIFUL work!
Thank you Iwakuni-san and crew.
Happy to hear that! Thank you for the kind comment 😊
Oh Dylan this is going to be a spectacular home!!!
Great work! I think I need to read up on those joints, they looked very interesting.
That’s great to hear! 😊🙌

@@dylaniwakuni Are you going to offer any joint-making online classes or workshops? I would sign up immediately
If there is an next life, i'd want to be a Japanese carpenter 😊😊😊

Poderia por favor, informar quais são as medidas da casa? Qual a altura o comprimento e a largura, por favor. Obrigado
did the left and right flat connector get switched?
1:25 the piece is too small and 2:16 the piece is too big
