How I got here…
12 yrs old: Started uploading minecraft videos at / @luke23mc
16 yrs old: Switched to uploading Fortnite videos on this channel. You can go to my uploads sort oldest to newest to see all of my old Fortnite videos
18 yrs old: Switched from Fortnite to Rocket League videos during Covid. I also began coaching players 1-on-1 on / spookluke
19 yrs old: Rocket League went free to play and my channel blew up. To keep up with the demand, started the Grand Champ Roadmap --a rocket league course business
20 yrs old: Built the course while in College and created a coaching-community-course hybrid model. Eventually, drop out of school to pursue UA-cam and the company full-time.
21 yrs old: Switched from selling courses to coaching + community only. Transformed GCR into GCB. Doubled coaching duration, cut price in half. Seeing results improve and customers happier was worth making less money.
22 yrs old: @Virge joined as director of coaching to further improve the product and help us make more free Rocket league content that is accessible to everyone.
Today: Coaching + paid communities is how we make our money - not youtube videos or courses.

As a 1s main, being told nobody likes 1s hurt me on a deep level

@magirehedge7585 basically it's because of the pace of play and playstyle difference, you can't play 1s the same as 2s and especially 3s I am a 3s main so having to slow down so much and focus only on the most effective way to score isn't nearly as much fun to me. I literally get tired playing it vs in 2s and 3s it's like a flow state of mechanical, rotations, and constant speed, 1s is much more controlled and slowed down and much more about mind gaming then actual rotation or speed (of course until high level but even then it's mind game central)

Loved how blunt and honest you were in this vid, I’m D1 and sometimes I think I could be ranking up and improving faster if I stopped playing on autopilot so much and just played smarter. Bouta go work on my kickoffs and then I’ll come back to the vid amazing work luke 👌🏻
I watched less than half.. played some rl.. and FINALLY got diamond ... ik its not much but its my first time there and I'm really happy also the duo I found and me are good enough so that I feel we could get higher diamond sooo.. grind don't stop😂

i'm hard stuck D2. The one thing I pick to work on from this video is flip resets. Champ smurfs always hit them on me so I need them too. Thanks Luke, great tips.

Luke, Have you thought about explaining the pre-flick in air dribbling in a tutorial? All the tutorials say that you have to do a flip cancel with air role, but they don't exemplify it graphically as you usually do.

As a casual player that’s gold rank in 2’s and 3’s, I’m impressed that I’m a gold with the amount of mistakes I make. My random teammates backs must be hurting.

BUT SPOOK, as someone who is typically stuck in gold and had gotten Plat before. (I play this game on and off). Mainly because of poor teammates. It seems that all the teammates I get, always ball chase, double commit, they owen goal or pass to the other team. And I constantly get teammates that sabotage the game literally!!! I'll be in situations where we are down then we tie it up and my teammate quick chats SORRY! and then leaves the game. Or my teammates literally just won't move or won't leave the net. Now I try to play around my teammates and work with, and at times I even carry but it's hard doing that when I constantly get horrible teammates. What am I suppose to do about that???? Every time I rank up a lil(typically when i have a somewhat decent player)it gets torn down after getting bad teammates.

In my opinion, if you wanna improve go in a rumble drop shot with inf boost with a friend. Over a few days, I’ve seen massive improvement due to me needing to significantly increasing shooting and ground control from the holes on your side and the opponents causing you to be more defensive at your side and more accurate at shooting where you want. Also as its rumble it adds a hint of unpredictability causing you to be aware of the circumstances way quicker to recover.
This sounds so crazy and dumb and not helpful at all that it might actually work and I might give it a try 😂

Ive gotten all the way to Champ ranks by wavedash kickoffs, theyre not as bad as people make it to be lmao
I'm actually better starting off without warmup, because the more I play the worse I play
warmups are wasted time in every game, it will not change youre performance, what should be different?
is a speed flip zap dash ok on kickoff and is it worth trying
Imma save you some embarrassment here just call it a zap dash and for kick offs just call it a wave dash kick off (not hating just tryna help🙏)

Im pretty sure a zap dash kickoff has 0 competetive advantage because otherwise pros would use it just do a normal speedflip

dont worry bud it is possible to hit ssl even on kbm but for comparison it took me 7k hours instead of 4.5k on average for players on cont to hit that

So many good tips. However we do consistently pass in solo q d3 and up, not everyone but a lot of people. Keep up the great vids!
edit: some players will and in that game you can especially expect it. some occasionally do it and others are just focused on themselves having the ball all the time
what should I do if I just rotated back to back post but I already have full boost. (you said that you should never sit idle on back post so you could do a circle to get some boost but I am already full boost)
idk how about higher ranks but for me its very hard play with cold hands (specialy in winter)

I can use some mechanics (like powerslide while landing) in freeplay but I can´t use them properly in my ranked games. Am I just to nervous and stupid or is this a problem that some of u guys got it too?
I only use diretional airoll is that bad or good because i dont like the normal air roll and i mostly use airol left and im pretty good with directional airol and im d2
