    I live in Milan and have no interest in wasting time trying to get into any shows. However, one of my favorite stories is that my best friend’s grandparents from rural Minnesota happened to be in Paris during fashion week. They accidentally wandered into a show and were sat. Her grandparents are super sweet, but so far from fashion people 😂 they had fun though!

    Does anyone else find it hard to be an active fan of fashion sometimes? I live in the middle of the US with no fashion retail around me. Non of my friends are fashion people and the ones who are don’t really care for our genres of style. I work on cars all day so I have to wear the least comfortable uniforms all week. But It does feel amazing the 2 days of the week I get to wear something crazy! Thank you for making this content brother🙌

      What you just described was my situation for years. Long-term, I feel like I learned how to develop my own taste because I didn’t have a group to fit in with. Oddly enough, I’m kind of grateful that the first few years of my fashion exploring was done almost completely by myself. 💫💫

      Its for elitists by elitists. I learned it the hard way. Most people who are into fashion are rich kids who chose one day to be artsy. Then a few normal people think they are cool and want to be like them thats the rest of fashion people. Nowdays everyone can be ”into fashion” but people who actually follow it and participate are usually rich kids and wannabe rich kids.

      @@karigrandiithat’s incredibly simplistic and disingenuous. Fashion- the wearing of clothes- is a tool as well as an art form. We can make the argument that haute couture is elitist because of its handcrafted, expensive nature, but to say that being interested in the art form of how you present yourself (which is also utilitarian and functional) is inherently elitist is ridiculous. In any city the counterculture poor kids (street punks, streetwear) have some of the coolest fashion, because they’re in DIY circles. Dont criticize something you don’t seem to know much about.

    It’s interesting, I have found after a few years of viewing clothing online and then seeing the items in person I have developed a skill where my mind is able to apply texture and dimensionality to my perception that is quite accurate. Small details that are not obvious are missed but they have rarely changed my mind to any significant degree when the item is eventually handled.
    I wonder given the evolution of digital imagery encompassing high resolution 3D software and AI generated models and videos etc, how relevant these very expensive, essentially “trade fairs” will be in the near to medium term? If I was a designer building a brand in the current epoch, I would definitely not be costing a runway show encompassing venue, models etc into my future business plan when the technology is inducing redundancy of the complex logistical and personnel framework required for them.
    One could postulate that the status and glamour associated with attending what are exclusive events is an essential part of marketing a luxury fashion brand but what has been observed in most industries is that technology that results in significant cost savings whilst preserving revenue is adopted reasonably quickly. It will certainly be interesting to see how this particular industry changes over the coming decades!

    Well, at this point I was about to unsubscribe when you ditched the holy croissants 😅 This was a primary reason why I went to Paris for the first time.
    For someone who asked about the best croissant spots - I love Carton next to the Gare du Nord. Also, each year they do a competition and award a boulangerie with the “best croissant in Paris” and you may Google this and try out those spots.
    Btw, I finally managed to get a table at Cedric Grolet Opera and I was not impressed by the croissant

    Just a general comment, Most Parisians have no idea when Paris Fashion Week(s) are happening at all. If you go about your daily life in the 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th you would be completely unaware. Even in the 1st-6th, you need to actively search out the Fashion Week activity. When I tell my friends here that it is Fashion Week, they just shrug and have no idea or what interest.

  • @108u9

    17:15 We need to get real around this. When you think about all the people walking this Earth, all the ways we have to communicate with each other, there’s really no reason for why we are plagued by isolation and disconnection. Yet we are. IMO for really no other reasons than because our hearts are blocked.
    The mutual support Bliss and Danielle share is not some grand sweeping gesture that only a handful of us lucky enough can ever muster, like dunking a basketball or something. It’s entirely doable and well within reach.
    We must shift and break these cycles. If you are indeed lucky like Bliss, consider growing your love so you have surplus as a couple to share, shelter and nurture those who are for whatever reasons aren’t as lucky (yet). Even if it’s a follow up text, a phone call, an invite over for dinner, remembering something the person said, even the smallest of gestures can help people feel that they do matter, that they do belong.

    What is the relation between "showrooms" and runway shows? What is a "showroom"? Cuz you mentioned the Hermes showroom.

    • @BlissFoster
      @BlissFoster  8 місяців тому +3

      Showrooms are just where people can see the clothes up close on mannequins. This is the time when clients would put in personal orders with the brand for special items, the buyers from different stores would fill out forms for what they are buying this season, and VIPs are shown the collection. For journalist, it’s our time to feel the fabric and get up close and see the details.

      @gregdahlen4375 8 місяців тому

      So showrooms are a temporary space for a brand? I'd doubt that some of these smaller brands have a permanent store/showroom in Paris? Even with a big brand, I'd doubt that their store/showroom is always fortuitously right next door to where they ran their runway, which is how I seem to remember hearing the description of the Hermes showroom location? I'd take it that the clothes on mannequins are the same the models will wear in the show, since believe you indicated there's only one copy of many of these garments? @BlissFoster

      Thanks, Bliss. Well obviously your work is excellent--it has a point of view, explains sophisticated concepts understandably, nice interplay between present and past. How do you feel about your work? What do you like about it?
      I think I have a good awareness of detail and also sometimes I can spot what seem to be contradictions in a presentation, so sometimes those lead to good questions. I also think I make good comments, but they don't often get the hundreds of upvotes I see other comments get lol @@BlissFoster

    When was it that designers broke down and started taking internet influencers (many of whom are quite cheesy) seriously, and began inviting them to their shows? I am not on any social media at all. Watching UA-cam videos is as far as I go when it comes to social media, but I recently started noticing quite a few UA-cam "influencers" showing up at rather high end runways shows, some of whom do not even have that many followers.
    And BTW... Bliss, you rock! You're the best UA-camr out there when it comes to learning a wide variety of information on designers, shows, behind the scenes, etc. There are so few UA-camrs who focus on Designers of all genres. Most fashion UA-camrs focus only on "luxury shopping trends," which is so uninteresting for people like me, who could care less about what's trending, or what's considered "luxury". I am interested in the designs, the quality of work & materials, and the amazing & interesting artistic quality of the work.

    I find your Take on People dressing up for Fashion week very Interesting because to me it feels like a rather rude thing to do. I live in Berlin and went to some of the Berlin Fashion Week Events and saw a lot of Crazy well- dressed people.
    A lot of the Outfits I could see could be described as 'Main Character' outfits which I dislike because It feels like it takes away the Spotlight from the Designers. In Fairness, I dont mind if the Guests wear Outfits by the Designer themselves, or if they are just dressed in their personal style like they would dress any other day. But that wasnt the case. You could tell for a fact that almost none of the Guests dress like that on a regular basis.

      I was in Paris last time during men’s PFW and didn’t notice any difference in style in comparison to the previous time I had visited.
      As for Berlin where I live, the situation is the same.
      The thing with the fashion shows and giving away outfits for the guests from the front row can be ridiculous at times when people end up having clothes on that don’t match their personality at all, and all look just the same
