Wow, now that is a respectable level of integrity. I think I can see what you meant before when you complained about how it sucked that gbfv got more popular the persona 4 arena. As a blazblue player I was pretty salty that the series was getting turned into gacha game for a while, before I realized that the gacha wasn't made for me and that I shouldn't be mad that other people enjoy a thing. I wouldn't say ultimax ever failed it just ran it's course people still play it to this day hell the remaster just got announced at the game awards and fans are excited I wouldn't be too hard on yourself you got alot of integrity making it though

Was in a similar boat with Arc System Works more recent titles. Haven't found a game I really enjoyed since BBCF, and now that it has rollback I honestly don't care what they decide to do with the IP. If they want to make a simplified sequel to BBCF like how they did with BBTAG that's fine, since my game STILL exists. Similarly to how Guilty Gear +R players are doing there own thing when Strive came out. Yes, you could argue that the player base for BBCF and +R is much smaller than more mainstream fighting games like DBFZ, BUT SO WHAT? Why should a game being old and have less players have to do with your love of the game itself? Heck, I'd rather play the same five people in BBCF, than play a few hundred people in DBFZ . WHY? Because I LOVE the game for the system mechanics in the former and HATE the system mechanics in the latter. The only justifiable reason I can understand a fan of BBCF not playing it fully, is due to lack of rollback, which it now has, so people who claim they love the game HAVE ZERO reason not to play it. Hopefully, P4AU comes out with rollback so that fans of that game can have something to enjoy as well.
Im 2 for 3, in one of Jiyuna's vids i commented that all i wanted was Rollback for BBCF, UNI and a P4AU port on PS4 i dnt even need the rollback jst gimme the game, damnit if id known id have asked for the rollback too, they didn't mention it in the trailer.
I honestly agree with you on BBTag. It was a very mid game at best to me. Sure it has some depth, but I don't really like it as a BlazBlue game. If it was just "Cross Tag Battle" or had a different name, sure, but it's definitely "stripped down and shallow" compared to Central Fiction or even CPEX. I enjoy it more for the novelty than its mechanics. That said, Granblue has some stuff I don't really like but find fun. I like the characters and settings but I end up disliking how they handle some of the systems as a fighting game. I can't say I exactly mind the cooldown system, but I find their balancing off more often than not. Anyway, glad to see P4U2 coming back in 2022. Glad to have it not stuck on the PS3 era systems anymore even if P5 fans are complaining about it.
I feel you say that alot of the new games made by ASW are def not for the people that came before, i wish we could get a new title that plays closer to 09-15 asw but times have change and there direction seems to make simple games with more bare bone options despite my distaste for this direction what i came to realize that made me a bit less salty at the whole situation regaurding simplification. strive may not have been the rev 3 i wanted but, despite that game may mean a lot to someone else the same way i love rev 2 and the same way you love p4u. so i stoped projecting my negativity towards bashing that game and instend tried to not to think about that stuff and just have fun with other hobbies or other fgs.
Well the best news is that Ultimax is coming back and Granblue is finally on sale with all season passes + new characters... I personally hate everything about GBVS as a fighting game, so i'm super happy for Ultimax (one of my top 3 fighting games) being re-released with the update America never got it so wholesome for this whole topic.
I have big kudos for you admitting that you goofed up but I do want to bring up one thing: P4A & P4U where never explicitly aimed at FGC heads, the big advertising draw with those games where that they are direct sequels to P4 & P4G, hell it was one of the first games that introduced the auto combo feature purely because it was for RPG fans first and formost to get used to fighting games & FGC heads lambasted Persona and BlazBlue for having Auto's I love P4U but it is disingenuous to say that it was aimed at the FGC compared to other licensed fighters
Mhm. Same thing with Granblue. It’s main draw is that it’s deliberately not that complex and extremely beginner friendly. Therefore, old FGC heads would not be the target audience for a game specifically designed for newcomers to the community.

The 5 people who still play this joke of a game need to deal with the fact mechanically the game is gutter trash and Cygames is every single bit as greedy with the pricing and lack of rollback as everyone else thinks. They run a gacha for crying out loud, but unlike another company that runs a gacha who produced a competent fighting game (DW) at a fair price, this one doesn't have any of the redeeming factors of Type Lumina. And yeah, for all intents and purposes, Granblue is probably one of the worst fighting games in recent years from both a gameplay and marketing perspective.

I think there is something that make sprite games dont have that type of dev support.
