You had me worry a bit when you put your thumb agains the edge of the pen blade and then pushed! I was expecting a nasty cut, luckily that didn't happen. What a great knife, you don't see that fishbone jigging often. You really have to wonder what happened, when they put out such a high quality knives and then switch to another maker. Now don't get me wrong, not that the new ones aren't as gorgeous, but the old ones seem pretty perfect. Thank you Stephen for showing us and telling us the history of it.
I thought for sure we where going to see some red juice opening the pen blade with the thumb pad 😬 but I forget your made of the tough stuff. Atb old lad
That is another beautiful knife! Gladstone, Michigan is a small town in the upper peninsula of the state. An absolutely beautiful part of the country if you don't mind nearly 9 months of winter snow! It is much closer to northern Wisconsin than it is to where I live in the Detroit area. (More than a 6 hour drive for me.) I believe that I am correct in saying that Derick passed away very suddenly shortly after moving the company to Tennessee. Fortunately the company continues with the same high quality standards.
I love your videos and thoroughly enjoy listening. However I’m not actually a gigantic fan of traditionals; at least not yet. But I have to say those are hands down absolutely gorgeous!! Thanks for showing us!!
Hello. A truly beautiful piece of cutlery. As you said "total class the jigging is amazing". So there is a bp Arrowhead coin too. Lol. A great addition to the collection. All the best.
Fantastic piece Paddy I have only one GEC gunstock and at the time I was going to buy another one and I didn’t do it I wanted to get 2 of them I remember but I think at the time I fell short on cash!!!!!! Another great one bud…… start thinking on who is going to get your collection……. Really think who your giving that awesome collection too!!!!! It’s important bud
I have only a Colt commemorative gunstock, but it is my favourite pattern, that one is stunning. By the way is the arrow/plug shield actually a pine tree outline, al la North wood? Shirley you can't be serious??
It looks like a Queen City gunstock model that is 3-inches closed length. The blades look similar in appearance but, the main blade on the Queen has a long pull. But, the pen blade looks like yours. If it yours is bigger, that foils that. Queen used D2 for lots of blades. Likely special runs were not marked as ones on Queen City models, Blades stamped PH-D2 signifies it as D2. Having the original box helps find the age of the knife. Sometimes asking the seller questions of the history of the knife can be a good place to start too. When you meet a pretty girl it is best to know if she hasn’t a jealous boyfriend or husband too. I see you seeing a pretty pocket knife and losing all your senses other than buying it for some reason. There is something to note; Queen and their connection with Marbles and Gladstone, Michigan. One thing is; that is a dandy pocket knife no matter who made it. Once you buy a knife; it is up to you to figure out where it came from. I wouldn’t expect any help any time soon. 🍀🥔🔪✨
I have several Schrade knives with equal F&F that cost a third of what GEC and associated brands cost. The only issue I have with Schrade is the bolsters with that key pin that’s a bitch to fix if it comes loose.
The blade steel from that era is most likely 420HC. The queen knives that are in D2 are always labeled Ph-D2. That is a beauty!!!!
That’s a beautiful, perfect knife. And you are right- the jigging is outstanding! Thanks for the background on Northwoods. Atb to you.
Really nice indeed really appreciate you sharing your videos with us thanks PPP

Once again you have an impeccable taste of knives, thanks again
Ah Paddy, you're a fortunate man to have such nice blades to be sure to be sure.

It's an arrow, then ... right you are. :-) Pretty knife, sounds as good as it looks.

Shirley you can’t be serious ! I am serious and don’t call me Shirley . lol 😂 ( Awesome knife )
It’s a very well made knife, but gun stocks are a pattern I just don’t like! Great action though! The butt-plug shield is a thing, isn’t it?
Gladstone is home of Marbles , also
It is far closer to a butt plug than an arrow, just saying 😁 lovely knife by the way.
Maybe 01 tool steel but not sure!!!!!! Let me know
