The rest of the time he was Happy to send out Sacrificial Lambs to be slaughtered (look at the Mortality Rate of the First Order of the Phoenix?)
Dumbledore in confronting (or actually FAILING to confront Voldemort) followed EXACTLY the same route he followed in his FAILURE to personally confront Grindlewald - set "Weak" wizards against them. Newt was in No Way the equal to Grindlewald's weakest servant. Similarly, most of the First Order of the Phoenix were infinitely weaker than the Death Eaters - Moody and Sirius comment on the Mortality rate. Now I know that some defender of Dumbledore is going to mention the Prophesy - that Prophesy WASN'T Made until AFTER the Marauders had left Hogwarts and Lilly was already Pregnant with Harry - the REAL question we need to ask is WHY Dumbledore DIDN'T confront Voldemort while his minions were killing Order Members, before the Prophesy was made? Unfortunately, this video does not provide any answers, other than Dumbledore's CHOICE to remain at Hogwarts...
It’s not much of an answer to a question that seems rhetorical. I think a question and answer about how to re-strategize during Wizard War 1 would have been a cool idea.
Dumbledore feared Voldemort for the same reason Voldemort feared Dumbledore. As Dumbledore states it: I knew Voldemort's knowledge of magic was extended beyond any wizard alive and my defensive charms would not work if Voldemort ever returned to full power.
What if Ginny had been sorted into Slytherin? I think it would have suited her as she was ambitious, cunning, resourceful and had a disregard for the rules.
Idk if this can be a video idea but, I always wondered out of all fictional villains, why Voldemort isn’t as liked as other well known villains. Look at the joker, darth Vader. Both are very popular and well liked by people, yet both are evil and twisted. What is it they have that make them still liked that Voldemort doesn’t get the same?
Vader and Joker have an imposing presence that strikes fear into all who bear witness, whereas Voldemort always seems like he’s trying too hard - book and film versions - to be what he’s claiming to embody. He’s not Sauron, the font of all darkness who will subject the world to his will as a God-King, he’s a broken child leading a horde of social outcasts and LARPers with no clear plan of what he wants to do beyond his contempt for the muggle born. It’s more that what he’s capable of is scarier than the man himself.
Voldemort is a villain of fairytales. Stereotypical, with a very simple symbolism behind him, which always got overly emphasized by J. K. Rowling. That symbolism was already overused when the story, or even when its creator was born. That's the X factor which Voldemort lacks, despite having a unique design, with a unique set of abilities. He can't outshine more legendary villains, as even his brains are no match for some more loved ones. He shouldn't have made so many mistakes, then he maybe could have been an icon for smart villains.
@@leventebardossy5962 Yeah; it would've been far more interesting if he realized, "I can charm everyone into giving me what I want." Imagine him winning over Nicolas Flamel, drawing in a larger amount of followers through manipulation, and continuing his Gaunt lineage just in case. If he stayed as Tom Riddle and kept Lord Voldemort restricted to an alter ego, he'd have been far more dangerous and compelling.
I think it was obvious to dumbledore that it wasn't on him to put riddle down he had done his part with defeating grindelwald. If he got rid of tom or later voldemort he would not only have denied the next generation the opportunity to grow through the conflict making them able to deal with any threat after he has passed but it was also only through voldemorts second rise and defeat that the magical society was able to band together and rout out the influence and prejudice that was present in the higher positions of the government through the old pureblood families. Voldemort was just a symptom of the greater problems with the magical society, even if dumbledore had stopped him it would have been only a matter of time until the next dark lord would rise as he had seen with his own eyes with voldemort succeeding grindelwald and being even more cruel and powerful then him.
the dumbledore impersonation😂 sounds like the shower thoughts voice when we get some spontaneous revelations hahaha for the dumbledore inderestimating tom part, I wonder if it could be linked to himself owning the elder wand and thus his power lust making him believe he will defeat tom anyways?🤔
Dumbledore was also a seer and knew all along the truth. This is why he trusted hadgrid. Dumbledore knew.it.was another who would vanquish the dark Lord
It’s easy to look in hindsight and ask why he did nothing, but I also can’t help but consider the other examples from fiction where intervening unnecessarily does the exact opposite of what the person intended, and Dumbledore probably thought putting unnecessary pressure on Riddle would torment him more than if he let him develop naturally. Dumbledore also likely never considered the idea that Riddle, who by all accounts was a bright and promising boy, would become anywhere near as evil as he did. The more likely scenario would be that he would get over these dark urges as he became more immersed with the Wizarding World and the horror of his childhood orphanage drifted away. The worst case scenario was likely being a petty criminal working out of somewhere like Knockturn Alley. Additionally, Tom is but one student and Dumbledore was not Headmaster while Tom was at school. Sure, he likely knew about him but is it really such a grave crime that he did not pay outsized attention to this one student, who most other teachers seemed to like well enough? Considering Dumbledore probably had other things going on in his life at the time, the fact that he wasn’t obsessed with the lives of teenagers at that time is understandable to me, as Harry’s time at Hogwarts only became important to him after Voldemort’s creation of the horcrux in Harry. But his fifth year and the death of Myrtle obviously changed that, but by then it was too late and anything he could do was just staving off the inevitable as Tom was already set on being a Dark Wizard and going further with the Horcruxes than any wizard before him. All Dumbledore could do was stop him from doing anything else while at school, but by the time he had graduated, it was out of his hands.
Ooooh I've always wondered if they somewhat of a relationship. Thanks Dean!

Dumbledore could have tried to steer Tom in a different direction. Sure, he might still have been arrogant and might still experiment in the dark arts. But he might not have turned to evil fully and might have become a more honourable person in the end. But Dumbledore did nothing and thus all the events from the Harry Potter movies and the 1st Wizard War happened. It could be that Dumbledore saw too much of his own old self & Grindelwald in Tom and blamed himself still for what happened to his former lover? And also feared that if he would try to do things, he would only make things worse?
Tom Riddle was ALREADY a Sadistic Bully by the time Dumbledore arrived at Wool's Orphanage - he had ALREADY hanged one child's rabbit and tortured two kids in the cave he later used to hide the Locket. I'm not a fan of Dumbledore's repeating patterns of Inaction and sending out Sacrificial Lambs, but let's not kid ourselves here, Tom Riddle was well beyond saving before he arrived at Hogwarts, especially once he was sorted into Slytherin!
@@michaelodonnell824 Tom riddle was the one who was tortured by ALL the other children AND EVERY adult he ever met before dumbldore, the cave and the other stuff ONLY came after a childhood of suffering
J.K. Rowling herself has said that if someone had actually loved and cared for young Tom, Voldemort would never have happened. The orphanages back in his time were historically very bad places for children. They were often worked hard, barely fed and often uneducated. Girls were frequently sexually abused and it also happened to the boys too. Orphans were often seen as a waste of space. It's a cruel life even after they grow up as they're poorly educated, have a stigma for being an orphan, and therefore unemployable.
Can somebody tell me where this movie clips are coming from? Not the movies we all know and love, but the movie clips of Tom riddle still having his human form before tearing up his soul.
when he was a child, he could have tried to make tom adopted into a loving childless magic family, as a teen I think is was simply Dumbledore's curiosity. not forgetting he likes to see how far things go (writing this while watching so may post another comment)
The problem was that Dumbledore acted too soft. Even in the 1st Wizarding War he could have established a policy of killing DE. He should have behaved exactly like them, him and his order. If they did that things might have looked different. When fighting evil be evil yourself, you can't win any war without cruelty. And yes even when he was in his office Dumbledore could have killed him. Tom after all wasn't a match for Dumbledore and he knew that. Makes me wonder if he secretly knew about his Horcruxes back in the 1st war. If he did and said/done nothing this is even more angering. I agree 100 % he should have stopped Tom long ago.
I agree with you mostly, dumbledore was too soft on many occasions. But in this story at least, the second wizarding war was won without cruelty. Even in his moment of victory, Harry chose to give Riddle a chance to feel remorse. Plus there were other occasions where mercy was shown instead of cruelty.. And I think dumbledore is most responsible for that by setting the standard.
But if you act like the enemy does then what keeps you from becoming what you hate in the enemies actions? I learned this in the Marine Corps back in the 70's and it is just as true today as it was then.
@@matthewinterlantejr.9297 Yes but the 2nd war was a different story. But you do right, it's just that they were fighting heartless killers. One of the biggest mistakes was to let Dolohov live. Dolohov is on the top of the DE list, dangerous killer by himself. Dumbledore wanted to focus on being better than them instead of winning. So too soft however you look at it.
@@RobertJones-ux6nc right! I think people tend to forget that, and that’s definitely something people should keep in mind. It’s like the saying goes “Be careful that when fighting monsters, that you don’t become a monster yourself.” I do partially agree with what this person said, because in war sacrifices always has to be made, and sometimes you can’t win by doing the right thing (unfortunately) because that’s just the way the world is. On the other hand, it shouldn’t get to the point where needless sacrifices are made to win a war. You don’t want to become as monstrous as the people you’re fighting, and selfishly cost people their lives for that cause. So, at the end of the day, I think it’s about finding balance, doing too much of either is toxic. But most people tend to lean one way or the other on most things.
Why has nobody cast an Avada Kedavra spell on Voldemort when he was reborn? Sure, it would have not killed him, but if I am not mistaken, he will become a ghost again and therefore wizards would have more time to find ways to kill him once and for all.
Maybe D could have tried a little harder to steer Tom right… But that’s much different than asking “why didn’t he stop him?” Stop what? He can’t predict a sad thieving orphan was going to become wizard hitler. Fast forward to Hogwarts and no one is going to believe Tom opened the chamber much less agree to send him to Azkaban so no options there and D was never going to kill him without provocation once Tom became Voldemort.
im not that big of a harry potter expert but my opinion on why he didnt kill or destroy Voldemort is that he couldn’t not because he isnt strong enough i believe in a 1v1 he would win but first he wouldn’t kill a kid at present time of events for he once was like grindelwal or how is name spelled and thought like him. Then he could but not now and so when riddle become voldemort he would’ve for greater good but he did the unthinkable split his souls so much he could cheat death again and again and dumbledore couldnt get all the horcruxes as harry was one of them his unknown horcrux and maybe he foresaw all of this and put harry in a place to do so knowing he could come back through that link but thats my opinion he could use harry to kill him because he couldnt kill harry or tom maybe if tom was Voldemort and for the greater good but the horcruxes and the fact harry is one of them would prevent him becausei doubt he would kill harry potter or any child in his current mind set
Well maybe Dumbledore being gay is attracted to bad ass characters that have bad ass ambitions I mean look at Grindelwald he turned out to be evil and Dumbledore fell in love with him so for some strange reason it appears that dumbledore's attracted to bad or dark men that have a tendency to border on the line of evil
Okay I don't know if you did this video already but what would happen if Voldemort became the dark arts teacher and did not just go on that killing spree but actually became the teacher would he have just gone like yo I'm the teacher now I need more power and I'm going to obliterate everybody or would even like yo I got what I wanted I'm chill now honestly I think he would have chilled out because of the fact that I don't know much about it he probably still would have done a little bit of sinister stuff but not to the extent of what he usually does and what we know him for so again what would it be like if he became the dark arts teacher
I think the real reason why he didn't help riddle which I'm just going to call Voldemort for now on because it's so much easier and everybody knows that so the reason why he probably didn't help Voldemort as a child is because he probably didn't know what to do or say so he just you know watched he probably did try to help but also didn't trust him enough so he probably tried to poke at Riddle and try to fix him but you can only do so much when you don't know what you're doing like I guarantee it they could have found probably a better teacher for him to I don't know poking prod at his problems to find out what's going on and how to fix him because obviously there probably is no social workers or anything in Hogwarts so you're probably just going to fall apart and no one's going to be able to help you because of the fact there's none of that in that position to be able to help which just kind of means that the wizarding world kind of sucks more than the rest of the world which apparently has social workers and all that so again Hogwarts is got like a few flaws or they're just not specifying that yeah there is that stuff there but as far as we can tell there's none of that so there's like a lot of things in here that you look at him be like okay I can understand why muggles aren't really allowed we poke holes in all the problems and be like yo you're wizarding society seems to be flawed yeah there are some good ideas here but you're obviously missing a huge portion of what can actually help everybody I guarantee it there been a lot less deaths if they actually had social workers

Sigh, the problem with satisfactory justice over truth always makes things worth for the next crime usually worse. GOV should not keep creating fake justice just to satisfy a ignorant public and leaving good folk as collateral damage in the wake of ill behaviors. But heck look at how the ministry deals with muggle governments in the case of Black, they did not care about the truth but to cover up reality to calm fears (muggles will be doing this a lot more in the near future) Living in a world based on lies is never good, nor works, nor real provides justice I mean they all got to the point of refusing to say Voldermort for goodness sake, lie of omission just as bad, I mean they might not have used the actual name, but besides dark lord they could of said evil wizard, etc like Satan the devil is not a name but a description (Deceiver accuser the rebel opposer) It was all surreal they way and how fast it got all out of hand. Rowlings did such a nice job weaving it all

Not only that but Voldemort gave his followers powers and incredible skills. Why didn't Dumbledore?
Only Harry had that forsight.
@@yitziyyb Harry had zero foresight. Dumbeldore had to explain everything to him
What if Ginny had been sorted into Slytherin? I think it would have suited her as she was ambitious, cunning, resourceful and had a disregard for the rules.
She was a Weasley. Guess where they go?
I think it would have been very interesting.
Dumbledore must’ve also thought there was good in Tom, he was ultimately proven wrong in the end.
Awesome video!!👍
Idk if this can be a video idea but, I always wondered out of all fictional villains, why Voldemort isn’t as liked as other well known villains.
Look at the joker, darth Vader. Both are very popular and well liked by people, yet both are evil and twisted.
What is it they have that make them still liked that Voldemort doesn’t get the same?
Voldemort never had goodness and love in his heart.
Voldemort also does not possess a "cool" factor. And I am glad about that, actually
I don’t remember some of these young scenes. Are they from fantastic beasts?
Voldemort: origin of the heir (?) .
Ah that makes a lot more sense. Great video
Dumbledore was also a seer and knew all along the truth. This is why he trusted hadgrid. Dumbledore knew.it.was another who would vanquish the dark Lord
Dumbledore was not a seer.
What is the name of the fan film you use ?
Voldemort: origins of the heir
What movie are those scenes from? The ones of an adult/school time Tom Riddle? Did I miss some movies/series?
Most likely a fan movie or short on UA-cam somewhere
Voldemort: origin of the heir (?) .
All the teachers loved Tom Riddle. Dumbeldore was only a teacher. What could he have done
I had thought about this before, but never came up with a satisfactory answer.
Can somebody tell me where this movie clips are coming from? Not the movies we all know and love, but the movie clips of Tom riddle still having his human form before tearing up his soul.
Love you and lore content!!!
when he was a child, he could have tried to make tom adopted into a loving childless magic family, as a teen I think is was simply Dumbledore's curiosity. not forgetting he likes to see how far things go (writing this while watching so may post another comment)
I fell like he thought maybe he would change him taking him there but who knows watch Dumbledore but who knows way he was actually thinking
We all know ow his struggle with power perhaps he wanted to join him?
What is the other movie in the video
Where are those clips of young Voldemort from?
I was wondering the same thing :/ .
Voldemort : origin of the heir (?) .
So the books would be longer than 11 pages.
Who are the group who play young Voldemort and the other 3 houses? Does anyone know?
Voldemort: origin of the heir (?) .
Hello, I have a question and a concern if you can answer me, when Voldemort visited Grindelwald I understood that he killed him is true
yes he killed him in the book..not in the movie
@@HarryPotterFolklore ok thank you very much, I follow your videos, I respect you, keep going
Good thing you werent the creator
Awful story wise
The scene at 01:47, what movie is that from?
Why has nobody cast an Avada Kedavra spell on Voldemort when he was reborn? Sure, it would have not killed him, but if I am not mistaken, he will become a ghost again and therefore wizards would have more time to find ways to kill him once and for all.
Because he was extremely skilled
What in the world was that movie you were showing??
Maybe D could have tried a little harder to steer Tom right…
But that’s much different than asking “why didn’t he stop him?” Stop what? He can’t predict a sad thieving orphan was going to become wizard hitler. Fast forward to Hogwarts and no one is going to believe Tom opened the chamber much less agree to send him to Azkaban so no options there and D was never going to kill him without provocation once Tom became Voldemort.
I may be in the minority, but.....I think Depp was a much better Grindewald than Mads.
I also thought the same thing at one point 🤔🤔🤔🤔👍👍👍👍
It's kind of "would you kill baby Hitler" and maybe Albus was was always Hoping he would change
Do y'all think Dumbledore capable kill Tom as a child?
Yes. He allowed Harry, a 14 year old, to play the triwizard tournament, despite knowing its very dangerous and that voldemort is involved
To be fair the spider is dangerous and he did kinda earn that
love your vids but what kind of sentence structure is "twice never stopped"? keep it up my man
It’s legitimately structured wording man..
What if Voldemort never framed hagrid?
What is this movie at 1:17?
What’s the source from 1:57?
Dumbledore wasn’t headmaster at this time, Armando Dippet was…
im not that big of a harry potter expert but my opinion on why he didnt kill or destroy Voldemort is that he couldn’t not because he isnt strong enough i believe in a 1v1 he would win but first he wouldn’t kill a kid at present time of events for he once was like grindelwal or how is name spelled and thought like him.
What’s the name of the film from 1:12-1:25 ?
origins of the heir
Well maybe Dumbledore being gay is attracted to bad ass characters that have bad ass ambitions I mean look at Grindelwald he turned out to be evil and Dumbledore fell in love with him so for some strange reason it appears that dumbledore's attracted to bad or dark men that have a tendency to border on the line of evil
Where did Tom Riddle go for the summer when he attended Hogwarts?
This should be your nexted video I.hope u see this but can u do a video on how the ministry of magic new how wizard tht came from none magic family how they new they were magic like Hermione came from none magic parents how they new she was a wizard but also put In how they coped in the wizarding world and my dude it is your business ur the one tht brought to Hogwarts wat would happen if he wouldn't of brought tom in to the wizarding world and just left tom in the orphanage wat would of happened like I said in the beginning I hope u see this u probably want see this comment but I hope see this and make it your nexted video
Team Tommy
Make sure you give Dean's videos a high rating when UA-cam pops the option into your feeds!
😍🥰😍🤩
Sigh, the problem with satisfactory justice over truth always makes things worth for the next crime usually worse.
GOV should not keep creating fake justice just to satisfy a ignorant public and leaving good folk as collateral damage in the wake of ill behaviors.
But heck look at how the ministry deals with muggle governments in the case of Black, they did not care about the truth but to cover up reality to calm fears (muggles will be doing this a lot more in the near future)
Living in a world based on lies is never good, nor works, nor real provides justice
I mean they all got to the point of refusing to say Voldermort for goodness sake, lie of omission just as bad, I mean they might not have used the actual name, but besides dark lord they could of said evil wizard, etc like Satan the devil is not a name but a description (Deceiver accuser the rebel opposer)
It was all surreal they way and how fast it got all out of hand.
Rowlings did such a nice job weaving it all
Any real fan knows the real reason is because Dumbledore was attracted to Tom and they had a secret affair where he showed him his special wand between classes.

Plz shoutout
quite upsetting all of your videos average like 8 minutes
seriously. Are upset about that?
What if Tom riddle was abused or r@ped by Dumbledore and that's why he became evil and weird ? Or what if Tom riddle was dumbledore's lover ? 😳

Wasn’t it simple? Dumbledore had a thing for bad dark wizards and wanted to make Grindy his daddy but after he failed he had a thing for charming young men ;)

I loved your narration of these books! I have since the first one!
