I remember you asked about this topic on Twitter a few months ago
I have 2 theories of how a real Omnitrix would work, the first is with a system like Avatar's (the one from James Cameron, not the one from Nickelodeon) Imagine a virtual reality headset that is wirelessly connected to 10 brainless animals, so you could control their bodies for 10 minutes.
The other possibility would be to use magic, imagine a varied team of necromancers, astrologers and occultists who form a talisman in the form of a bracelet, this gives its wearer the strength and virality of various ancient entities, primeval beings and astral creatures.

What if instead the dna was injected through viruses the Omnitrix injects into the user. The viruses instead of giving commands to make more viruses would gove command to the cells to produce structures for the new DNA essentially transforming them
