Only 10 years late to the party!
If you took the engine out of the casing, made an adapter plate for a car transmission, you’d be able to stick it in a car. It’s got the potential to be an awesome hot rod engine, put it in something like a 1940 Ford or a Willys coupe.
I want to see it anything. 5.0L Honda V8? Yes please.
Based on the engine specs it seems to be closely related to the J-series automotive engine. The BF250 was already closely related to the J35 and this seems to be that but with 2 extra cylinders, hence the same SOHC 4v per cylinder VTEC valvetrain.
they make it in a short shaft? that's impressive. Not sure how many 15" transoms can handle that kind of weight.
Shouldn’t have said short. It’s available in 25” and 30”
The cost is more than I paid for my first house.
How much does it cost?
@@natepolitics1490 $45,299
slight error - it's single *overhead* cam - one cam per bank of 4cyl, so each of the 2 cams runs 16v.
@@msengineeringdavid3148 4-Stroke, SOHC, 60° V8, 32 Valve - This is what Honda Marine's website says about the BF350.
@@msengineeringdavid3148 It is not it's SOHC 4v per cylinder
My only concern when it comes to Honda's, and Suzuki's for that matter, is service centers. There just aren't enough of them, or qualified tech's. At least compared to Yamaha and Mercury. I'm sure it's a great outboard. Just won't be seeing them on any inland waters. And coastal waters will be limited to where they can be easily serviced.
Not enough young people want to work with their hands.
@@joephysics5469 It's not even that. The U.S. market for outboards is heavily Yamaha and Mercury. Honda and Suzuki are very popular overseas. For every US dealer that sells Honda outboards there are 10 that sell Yamaha and/or Mercury. So it doesn't make sense to buy a Honda or Suzuki depending on where you are, or how local the nearest service center is.
@@riccochet704 You are correct. My comment was generalized to indicate there is a shortage of trained mechanics across the nation. That includes marine techs. That also drives up the cost. Simple supply and demand.
@@joephysics5469More money to be made for less stress. Get with the program. You yourself had a job that was made easier than the forefathers. 🤷
@@youngmo77 What kind of douche reply is that?
Now you just need 400, 450,500 HP
I live in a country where gas is $9.00 a gallon, about $13.00 in our currency. I couldn’t afford to start it, let alone buy it.
So, they added 2 cylinders to their v6 platform, interesting.
So they are going from 250 to 350? Without a 300 option? My boat is rated for 300. I'll be going Suzuki or Yamaha for re-power if that's the case.
Honda 250s have a great bit of power
I'm sure Honda puts out a good product but I'd prefer to stay with the brands that are more popular and proven.
Not for nothin, but Honda has made 4 stroke outboards for way longer than any other outboard manufacturer. They were the first. And they are very reliable, well made engines. Also, they do way way more development on their engines before release. So by the time they get to the customer there are no bugs to work out. Which puts them behind the other companies in the innovation category. But you can bet this new motor will be a good one in this category.
My 2000 Honda bf90 has over 3000 hours and still runs great.
What is the timing run with a timing belt or timing chain
love Honda products.
Yeah, but will it fit in a Civic?
Another North American killer, My Etec I still love it, so yea I am bitter, nice motor for sure.
This is silly but I had to watch
But who and where will service Honda
Are these motors made 100% by honda o r they a rebranded suzuki o tohatsu?
Didn’t show the steering setup is that by wire also or the conventional hydraulic pump.
You can use conventional hydraulic steering. Most of the boats were fitted with dometic steering.
JÁ nasceu velho ultrapassado obsoleto. Como todo outboards japoneses!!
How much these motor go for?
WONDERFULL! Si me pasáis datos en español y datos europeos puedo hablarlo en mi canal, un saludo desde España
Single cam running 16 valves on each head. 😉
No, it's SOHC, so two cams, one in each head.
How can i get this in my civic?
Honda 350? WAAAY underpowered now with Merc 400, 450, 500 and 600 in service.
If you think that's impressive, check out Mercury's v12 Verado with 600 hp.
Price ?
🎉
760LBS Yikes!
I believe Honda rates their motors wet while others rate them dry.
Single cam eh... No wonder hondas thinking about joining nascar. They already pay for the engine rights
Looks weird.
Still born motor, way, way over priced and with honda,s terrible corrosion problems its dead in the water and 15 yrs too late......
Lloks like it weighs about 1500 lbs
760lb
@@Cookiecutter160 100lbs too much
The world is burning, and there's an HP war for water toys. Yaay?
So the least volume selling, worst reputation Outboard on the marketplace. Aside from Evinrude, of course is coming out with a new motor?😂😂😂😂😂
Most reliable tho
A bit heavy
Still overpriced rice burner
COMPARED TO MERCURY IT'S A WAIST R & D MONEY AND DEVELOPMENT.
Mercurys blow
